L'auvent peut être maintenu dans une po sition tendue lorsqu'il est étendu comme re présenté en pointillé à la fig. 3, ceci d'autant plus qu'il est relié au corps de tente par son extrémité supérieure le long des lignes A-A', A-B, A'-B', B-C, B'C', ce qui se comprend facilement lorsqu'on tient compte du fait que la partie 13 de l'auvent, en se référant à la fig. 5, est reliée le long de la ligne A-A', au sommet du corps de tente, comme représenté à la fig. 2 ;
Tent The present invention relates to a tent comprising a body provided with an entry opening.
An object of the present invention is to provide a tent constructed in such a way that it allows the entry of air and sun in good weather, but which nevertheless gives complete protection against rain, wind and snow.
In addition, the invention also aims to provide an aerodynamically shaped tent having a minimum of parts which can easily be assembled and disassembled.
Another object is to provide a tent the parts of which for use in different weather conditions are manufactured with the tent body itself.
The tent forming the subject of the present invention is characterized by a front awning connected to said tent body by its upper end along a line above said opening and by a part of its side edges along lines adjacent to said opening. opening, and by a pair of gussets connected to the other part of the side edges of said upwind, each of said gussets having a side edge connected to the tent body along a line adjacent to the opening and the other side edge remaining free for to facilitate the extension and folding of the gussets, while this canopy is respectively raised and lowered in open and closed positions with respect to said opening,
this awning having in or being an extension having op posed side edges extending forwards when the awning is kept in a closed position with respect to said opening.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the tent with the awning folded back against the front wall.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing the awning in the use position and fixed downwards to completely prevent the entry of snow, rain, etc.
Fig. 3 is a vertical section showing the awning in two different positions. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the tent with the awning raised along its lower edge to allow air entry but still provide protection from wind and rain.
Fig. 5 is a plan view of the awning blank.
Fig. 6 is a plan view of a special rain cover for the top of the tent. Fig. 7 is a perspective view of a covering for the whole tent.
The tent shown is of the general type comprising a body provided with an inlet opening and supported inside a frame substantially out of contact therewith. This body has a front wall which is generally closed at will with a net and with the usual awning elements or closing flaps.
The tent body shown has a shape such that when viewed from the front or from the rear or from each side, it has a trapezoidal outline, however it could have any other shape. The frame shown is formed from flexible members 10 which are assembled tubular sections. The tent body consists of a unitary assembly with its upper, side, rear and lower walls united, the front wall having the form of a net 11 arranged so as to be closed along certain lines, for example, by means of slider closures and in the non-use position, to be folded back as shown in fig. 1 where it is held suspended.
The frame members at the front of the tent are inclined forward and downward diverging from each other and are disposed contiguous with respect to the angles of the tent at the front thereof.
A front awning is connected to the tent body and is shown as a blank in fig. 5, this blank comprising a trapezoidal part 13 defined by lines 14, 15, 16 and 17.
A triangular extension 18 of sides D-19 and D'-19, when the blank is flat is connected along line 15 by its base as shown in fig. 5. The extension 18 tapers towards the front from said junction line and ends with a point 19. Gussets 20 and 21 are joined at part 13 along lines 16 and 17, the edges 22 and 23 of these gussets being arranged so as to be connected to the tent body itself in the immediate vicinity of its front opening.
The corresponding outer edges C-D and C'-D 'are free so as to allow the gussets 20, 21 to naturally assume a folded position when the awning is moved down from an open position indicated in dotted line in FIG. 3 to a closed position shown in fi-. 2. The side edges D-19 and D'-19 of the extension 18 make a good fit with the ground surface as shown in figs. 2 and 3.
When it is desired to open the tent by lifting the extension 18 to its position indicated in dotted lines in fig. 3, the gou sets 20 and 21 may extend so as to form side walls with respect to the part 13 of the awning, so that the interior of the tent is protected from side winds, rain, etc. .
The awning can be kept in a taut position when extended as shown in dotted lines in fig. 3, all the more so since it is connected to the tent body by its upper end along lines A-A ', AB, A'-B', BC, B'C ', which is easily understood when 'account is taken of the fact that the part 13 of the awning, with reference to FIG. 5, is connected along line A-A ', at the top of the tent body, as shown in fig. 2;
the side edges AB and A'-B 'of the part 13 of the awning (with reference to fig. 5) are respectively connected to the opposite side walls of the tent body along lines adjacent to the front opening of the tent body. -Here as shown in fi-. 1; and edges B-C and B'-C 'of the respective gussets 20 and 21 are similarly connected to the tent body along lines adjacent to the front opening thereof. The connections which have just been described between the awning and the tent body can be effected by assembling the parts in any well known manner suitable for the usual manufacture of tents.
With the awning shown, connected, as described, to the tent body, the tip 19 of the extension 18, as shown in solid lines in FIGS. 2 and 3, can be attached at 24 so as to be anchored to the ground to provide complete protection against wind, rain, etc., under extreme weather conditions. This pendant, as shown in dotted lines in FIG. 3, the awning can be raised to form a sort of awning allowing great ventilation of the tent while protecting the occupants from the heat of the sun.
This latter arrangement can also be useful where the front opening is in front of a fire intended to provide warmth to the occupants of the tent, as the heat of the fire burning beyond the limits of the awning heats the fire. tent in cold weather and sparks and smoke from the fire may escape upwards without entering the tent. In fig. 1, the lower part of the awning is shown rolled upwards against the front part of the body to form a free passage in the tent.
In fig. 4, the lower edge of the awning is rolled up slightly and is then secured to the ground, to provide good protection against snow and rain and yet allow full ventilation.
In fig. 7, the tent is shown with the awning attached very close to the ground and the tent is also provided with an additional extreme cold weather cover 26. This covering element is provided with a marginal flange 27 which can be fixed at the bottom, the element 26 being provided with side openings 27a in the form of a net or a grid for the upper ventilation.
The top of the tent is fitted with a fan cover 28 (fig. 3). In earlier windy and humid weather, it is possible to place over this fan a protective cover 29 which, as shown in FIG. 6, is in the form of a sheet 30 having rings 31 arranged along the sides and at the corners of the sheet. As shown in fig. 3, these rings are intended to slide over upwardly extending pegs 32, frame members, and when so arranged allow the fan to operate while protecting it from rain.
The described tent which is simple and efficient is provided with a canopy which can be quickly and easily adjusted to various positions to meet varying weather conditions. The awning is attached to the tent body and consists, as described, of a single piece which has a pair of gussets connected to the tent body, adjacent to the front opening thereof and which further comprises a portion s' extending forward which is preferably triangular when in blank form. Thanks to this extremely simple element and to the way in which it is fixed, the various positions thereof can be easily achieved to meet the conditions mentioned above. The dimensions of the tent described in no way affect the construction principle.
The only modification can be made to the shape of part 13 of the awning since this part must generally conform to the particular contour of the entrance end of the tent body with which the awning is. used.
