Description

The present invention relates to an air conditioning device comprising a unit consisting of a blower, a heat exchanger and a drip pan.

Such a device can be arranged either vertically or horizontally, depending on the installation of which it forms part.

The device according to the present invention is characterized in that the drip pan is arranged so that it surrounds the exchanger on two sides so as to be able to collect condensate from the heat exchanger as well as a vertical position than for a horizontal position of the device.

The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention. In this drawing, fig. 1 is an end view thereof mounted in an enclosure (not shown); fig. 2 is a view observed in the direction of arrow 2 in FIG. 1, and fig. 3 is a view of the dismantled parts of the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. According to the drawing, a group 4 includes a blower assembly 1, a heat exchanger and drip pan assembly 2 and a filter box and damper assembly 3.

The entire blower is designed and built to draw air in group 4 through fresh air inlet 5 or recirculated air inlet 6, depending on the position of the damper in assembly 3. The sucked air flows upwards through the filter element 7, between the bundles 8 of the heat exchanger, in the passage 9, through the cylindrical fan 10, in the passage 11 and exit by exit 12.

The filter box and register assembly 3 includes a front panel 13, a rear panel 14 and two end panels 15 and 16. A U-channel 17 is attached to the panel 14 to support the rear end of the tube. the filter element 7, and the lower edge of the panel 13 is folded backwards at 18 so as to constitute a support surface for the front end of the element 7. A register 19 comprises two wings 20 and 21 through which pass pins 22 which also pass through the end panels 15 and 16 in order to allow the register to pivot from the position shown in solid lines (fig. 1) to the position shown in dotted lines 19a, and vice versa.

A tension spring 23, offset, keeps the register 19 in each of its positions. In the solid line position, the register 19 admits recirculation air to the conditioner through inlet 6. In the dotted position, it admits fresh air to the device through inlet 5. A stud or other suitable stopper limits the movement of the register to its dotted position. The plate 15 has a series of holes 24 for adjusting the position of the spring 23, for example in the case where it has relaxed after a long service.

Input 5 communicates with an external source of fresh air outside the building or room to be conditioned, and input 6 communicates with the interior of this building or room.

The heat exchanger and drip pan assembly 2 comprises a pair of tube plates 25 and 26 and a series of finned, heat exchanger tubes 27. An inlet connection to the tubes is provided at 28 and a return connection at 29. Between the two sides of the heat exchanger which comprises the tubes 27 and the tube plates 25, 26, extends a trough of draining 30 having a pa king before 31 and a perpendicular wall 32. Each of these walls has flanges on three of its edges so as to form the finished bowl. Drain pipes 33 and 34 make it possible to vi danger the condenser of the bowl.

Two plates 35 and 36 are arranged, inclined downwardly with respect to the outer faces of the tube plates 25 and 26, so that when the group 4 oc cup its position of the fi. 1, the condensate coming from the elbow fittings 37 is directed into the bowl. Group 4 can be placed either in the vertical position of FIG. 1 in which the wall 32 receives the condensate from the air circulating around the tubes 27, or in the horizontal position (not shown) in which it is the wall 31 which receives this condensate.

In order to direct the air over the tubes 8, a baffle 38 is provided in the space between the tube plates 25, 26. Two plates 39 and 40, fixed to the upper edges of the plates 25, 26, present tent two circular openings 41 and 42 delimited by flanges 43 folded outwards. A flange or disc 44 mounted in each of the or vertures 41 and 42, comprises a flange 45 folded outwards in order to allow it to be removably mounted inside the flange 43 by screws (not shown). Each of the discs 44 is offset with respect to the respective plate 39 or 40 so as to cooperate with the flanges 43 to form a disc having a cylindrical recess 46. These recesses receive and cover the ends of the rotor 10 of the fan.

The central part of the disc 44 on the left is stamped or pushed back outwards so as to form a bowl 47 intended to receive the bearing 48 of the shaft 49 of the rotor. Attached to the right-hand end of the rotor is a flexible coupling member 50 to enable the rotor to be removably coupled to the shaft 51 of a fan control motor 52. A tightening screw 53 ensures the fixing. The rotor 10 of the fan and / or its bearings can be removed from the position shown in FIG. 2, removing the right disc 44, unscrewing the screw 53 and withdrawing the rotor 10 axially through the opening 41.

The fan rotor 10 works in a spiral-shaped casing or casing formed in part by a front plate 54, a curved plate 55 extending from the upper edge of the plate 54, and another curved plate 56 extending from the plate 38. , above mentioned. Two perforated soundproofing panels 59 and 60 start from the downstream edges of the plates 55 and 56 to complete the envelope. As the motor 52 rotates, the rotor 10 rotates clockwise (looking at Fig. 1) so as to draw air through the filter element 7, through the tubes 8, to through the spiral-shaped chamber 9, 11, the air escaping through the outlet 12.

As already stated, the ends of the rotor 10 are received in the recesses 46. These recesses are believed to increase the efficiency of the air flow of the fan because they decrease the turbulence in the vicinity. of the ends of the rotor. It is believed that this anti-turbulent action results from the fact that all of the air exiting from between the fan blades moves at the same speed. If the side edges of the rotor 10 were spaced inwardly from the plates 39 and 40, as would be the case without the recesses 46, the air in these spaces would move more slowly than that flowing in. line with the rotor blades.

This difference in speed would cause part of the faster moving air to flow into the lower speed zone, causing harmful turbulence, which would reduce the fan's performance in terms of cooling. air circulation. By virtue of the present construction, the spaces between the ends of the rotor and the discs 44, 44 are outside the air stream, so that the mentioned turbulence does not occur. Any possible turbulence is confined in the spaces included within the recesses 46 and does not impede the flow of air in the spaces between the plates 39 and 40.

A plate 61 is used to mount the motor 52. Consoles (not shown) secure the motor in position on this plate 61. For some installations, the motor should be mounted at the left end of the fan rotor. The plate 61 is then extended beyond the left face of the plate 39 and openings are made in the vicinity of the two ends of the plate 61 in order to receive fixing means for the consoles of the engine.

It is evident that in practice an enclosure (not shown) surrounds the group 4. A pair of cones 62, 63 and rubber buffers 64 allow the assembly to be mounted in the enclosure.
