Description

The present invention relates to a grinding machine.

The operation of a manually adjusted and operated grinding machine requires some experience from the operator. The operator first advances the grinding wheel at high speed by means of a handwheel feed mechanism until the grinding wheel has come into engagement with the workpiece. It then continues to advance the wheel at a slower speed, but fast enough to remove a maximum amount of material in a minimum period of time. This rate of advance is maintained until all but a pre-determined small amount of the material has been removed.

Then the operator advances the grinding wheel, first in large steps, then in small steps until a completed dimension is indicated, either by a positive stop of the feed mechanism or by some type. indicator in contact with the workpiece. After stopping the feed of the grinding wheel, the operator leaves the wheel and the workpiece in contact for a short period of time, until there are no more sparks and / or until the dimension indicator shows 0, which means that no additional material is removed any more.

He then turns the handwheel in the opposite direction sufficiently to put the wheel back in position for the next grinding operation.

When a rapid feed from a power source is applied, a means is obtained to reduce the rapid feed movement to a speed suitable for grinding, either by retarding the rapid feed mechanism itself. said, or by providing another slower moving advance mechanism, preferably actuated through part of the rapid advance mechanism.

Even with this type of feed, the necessary slow final feed cannot be satisfactorily obtained by continuous movement, and the final feed of the wheel is effected by manually operating the handwheel, which often consists of a series of pulses applied by hand rather than continuous pressure until the correct size is reached.

The handwheel is rotated again in the opposite direction to put the manually operated part of the advance mechanism back into position after each operation.

Despite the experience of operators of manually adjusted machines, there is one machine characteristic which is problematic due to the friction between the wheelbase guide surfaces, for example, and the associated guide surfaces of the machine table. . Due to the play and the flexibility of the manually actuated advance mechanism between the handwheel and the adjustable connection between the sliding element and the table, the operator is not guaranteed,

when the handwheel is moved by one graduation of the dial, the wheelbase is moved by the distance represented by this graduation.

The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the grinding machine, object of the invention.

Fig. 1 is an end view, partially in section, of said embodiment of the grinding machine. Fig. 2 is an end section of a hand feed wheel and a ratchet and ratchet wheel mechanism for actuating the feed.

Fig. 3 is a cross section of the feed ratchet showing a coarse feed and fine feed mechanism.

Fig. 4 is a front sectional view showing the reset ratchet portion of the advance mechanism, and FIG. 5 is a hydraulic and electrical diagram.

Reference 10 designates the table of said embodiment of the grinding machine. 11 is a grinding wheel support mounted to slide transversely on the table 10. 12 is a workpiece support carriage, also mounted so as to slide perpendicular to the direction of movement of the support 11 of the wheel. A grinding wheel 13 is mounted so as to rotate on the support 11.

A workpiece W is supported so as to be able to rotate on the carriage 12 by means of a tailstock 21 and a tailstock 20. A caliper 30 is suitably mounted to engage the work. W and deviate from it. Said caliper to be calibrated 30 may be part of one of the adjustment mechanisms of well known form suitably connected to reverse the grinding wheel and zero the <RTI.

ID = "0002.0036"> feed mechanism at the end of a grinding operation.

The device intended to move the wheel support 11 in the direction of the support of the workpiece 12 and away from it,

consists of a lead screw 40 mounted so as to rotate through a nut 41 fixed to the support 11 of the wheel or forming part of the latter. Said lead screw 40 is actuated at the end of a single piece by means of a piston 51 located in a cylinder 50.

A cam 52 located on the anterior end of the lead screw 40 engages with a position switch 1-LS when the end of the visrmere 40 engages with a positive stop 53.

The device actuated by a power source, intended to rotate the lead screw 40, consists of a worm shaft, endless 60 provided with a helical toothed wheel 61 engaging a pinion 62 mounted on the screw. @ mother 40. The shaft 60 is moved to the left for rapid preliminary advance movement by means of a piston 63 located in a cylinder 64.

The left end of the worm shaft. 60 is connected to a return piston 71 located in a cylinder 70. A sliding pin 72, located in the end of the cylinder 70, engages a position switch 38LS when said rapid advance mechanism reaches the end. of its movement. The role of the piston 71 is to perform a reverse or backward movement of the shaft 60 and of the rapid advance piston 63.

At the end of the rapid feed movement, the remainder of the feed is provided by a ratchet feed mechanism mounted on the shaft 80 of a handwheel 81. The shaft 80 has a double pinion 82 which behind, by means of a chain 83, a pinion 84 mounted on a shaft 85. The latter. is mounted in suitable bearings arranged in the table 10, and has a bevel gear 86 engaging another bevel gear 87 mounted on the shaft 60. The bevel gear 87 is also connected, via a gear conical 68 and a suitable reduction gear, to a motor 89.

Ratchet wheels 100 and 101 are mounted on a hub 102 of the handwheel 81. Said hub is keyed on the shaft 80. The ratchet wheel 100 can be actuated by a pawl 103 located on a coarse advance piston 104. . The stroke of the piston 104 can be adjusted by a screw 106 mounted on the right end of a cylinder 105.

On the other side of the ratchet wheel 100, a fine feed pawl 110 is mounted on a piston 111 located in a cylinder 112. The stroke of the piston 111 can be adjusted by means of a screw 113 mounted in the cylinder. the left end of cylinder 112.

The 101 back-up ratchet wheel is actuated by a pawl 120 located on a piston 121 contained in a cylinder 122. The stroke of the piston 121 can be adjusted by means of a screw 123 located in the cylinder. the left end of cylinder 122.

Operation When the control motor is started, the 1PLS pressure limit switch is closed to energize the lOCR control relay. The control relay contact 10CR4 closes a circuit to normally close a switch relay contact 9TR3 to energize the control relay 21 CR. The contacts 2.1 CR 1 and 21CR2 of the control relay energize an electromagnet G of

valve which serves as a pre-inlet valve for directing pressurized fluid to a reversing valve 90. fast forward and activate it. The latter is moved to the left against a spring 91, and the pressurized fluid from the pump P is directed to the upper end of the rapid-advance cylinder 50. The rapid advance piston 51 advances to position the grinding wheel support to begin the grinding operation.

When the rapid advance piston 51 comes to the end of its travel, the cam 52 located on the lead screw 40 actuates the limit switch 1LS to energize a control relay 87CR. The normally closed control relay contact 87CR1 and the normally closed control relay contact 87CR2 open to de-energize a valve solenoid Z which moves towards the valve.

left and directs the pressurized fluid to the head end of the rapid advance cylinder 64, moving the piston 63 to the left and rotating the lead screw 40 for rapid grinding advance advance. At the end of the rapid grinding advance, the return piston 71 and cylinder 70 move a stud 72 located in the head end of cylinder 70. The cylinder head 70 serves as a positive stop.

Stud 72 engages and closes a limit switch 38LS to close a circuit to energize control relay 71CR. This rapid feed is set to grind the work up to 0.025 mm or any other previously determined position, close to the terminal dimension at that time.

Control relay contact 71CR1 closes a circuit to energize a 4TR switch relay. The grinding continues without advance for a predetermined period of time at the expiration of which the contact 4TR2 of a switch relay closes a circuit of the counter 1 CT. Contact 1CT1 of the meter closes a dead circuit via contact 6TR2 of a switch relay, normally closed,

to energize the 5TR switch relay. It also closes a dead circuit through contact 5TR2 of a normally closed switch relay to energize control relay 51CR and counter 2CT.

Control relay contacts 51CR1 and 51CR2 close a circuit to energize the valve solenoid M. The valve moves to the right and directs the pressurized fluid to the right end of the piston 111 operating the pawl, moving the piston to the left to rotate the ratchet wheel 100 for delayed advance. - coarse rhetoric.

After a predetermined time interval, intended to allow this movement of the piston 111, the relay 5TR triggers the closing of the relay contact 5TR1 and the opening of the relay contact 5TR2. Opening relay contact 5TR2 de-energizes control relay 51CR. The control relay contacts 51CR1 and 51CR2 open to de-energize the valve solenoid M.

The valve is returned to the left to direct the pressurized fluid to the opposite end of the udder 111 to return the piston and pawl to its original position for the next differential advance.

The 5TR1 relay contact closes a circuit to energize a 6TR relay. Relay contact 6TR2 cuts the circuit to de-energize relay 5TR by re-establishing relay contacts 5TR1 and 5TR2. The relay contact 5TR2, normally closed,

closes a circuit to re-energize control relay 51CR which provides another differential advance through piston 111, which advance is counted by counter 2CT.

After a predetermined number of differential advances of this kind, 4 for example, the counter 1CT triggers the opening of contact 1 CT 1 of the counter and the closing of contact 1 CT2 of the counter.

The counter contact 1 CT2 closes a circuit passing through the normally closed relay contact 8TR2, to energize the 7TR relay. After a predefined time interval,

relay contact 7TRl closes by energizing relay 8TR and control relay 29CR. Control relay contacts 29CR1 and 29CR2 close a circuit to energize the valve solenoid N by moving the valve to direct pressurized fluid to the left end of piston 104 in small pulses advance. . Said piston 104 moves to the right to provide a small differential advance.

The relay contact 8TR2 opens after a sufficient time interval to allow the movement described above of the advance piston .104 in small pulses. The 7TR relay is de-energized.

Relay contact 7TRl opens to de-energize and restore relay 8TR and control relay 29CR. The control relay contacts 29CR1 and 29CR2 open to de-energize the valve electromagnet N which moves to direct the pressurized fluid towards the right-hand end of the piston 104 in order to return said piston for the purpose of the valve. next advance pulse.

The time interval provided for each differential feed allows the grinding wheel to advance, grind and remove sparks before the next feed occurs, so that on the final approach to dimension terminal forces, such as changes in the workpiece and in the machine, which adversely affect the relationship between the grinding wheel and the workpiece, are kept to a minimum.

When the diameter of the workpiece reaches a predetermined dimension, the feed of the grinding wheel is stopped and grinding interrupted at the same time, since at this time neither the workpiece nor the machine undergoes any damage. deformation.

This cycle is repeated until a calibration device, represented by the calibration compass 30, is actuated indicating the previously determined dimension of the part.

This template closes a pass-through circuit via contact 31 of the calibration compass to energize relay 9TR. The relay contact 9TR3, normally closed, opens to de-energize the control relay 21CR. The control relay contacts 21CR1 and 21CR2 open to de-energize the valve solenoid G. The valve moves to the left, thereby exhausting valve 90.

The valve 90 is moved to the right by the spring 91 to direct the pressurized fluid to the left end of the fast-advance recovery cylinder 70, and also to the lead screw end of the cylinder 50. fast forward to restore the feed mechanism and bring back the support 11 of the grinding wheel and the grinding wheel 13.

When control relay 21CR is de-energized, control relay contact 21CR4, normally closed, closes a circuit to relay lOTR, passing through control relay contact 71CR2 and through counter contact 2CT3, normally closed. , and by relay contact 11TR2 normally closed,

to energize the 30CR control relay and the 2CT counter. The relay contact IOTR1 closes after a predetermined time interval, which allows the movement of withdrawal of the support 11 from the wheel to occur.

The control relay contacts 30CR1 and 30CR2 then energize the valve electromagnet K which moves the valve to the right and directs the pressurized fluid to the right end of the coarse pulse advance restoration piston 120. , in order to provide a coarse impulse to return to its original position of the feed shaft 80.

At the same time, a circuit is closed from the counter contact 2CT3 passing through the relay contact 11TR1 to energize the relay 12TR. The normally closed relay contact 12TR2 is opened by de-energizing the 11TR relay. Normally closed relay contact 11TR2 energizes counter relay 30CR and counter 2CT.

Control relay contacts 30CR1 and 30CR2 close a circuit to energize the valve solenoid K which moves the valve to the right directing the pressurized fluid, through the butterfly valve, to the valve. the left end of cylinder 122. Piston 121 and pawl 120 move to the left at a speed determined by butterfly valve 130.

Pawl 120 engages ratchet wheel 101 to rotate shaft 80 in the reverse direction. Shaft 80 acts through the feed mechanism described above to give a determined number of pulses. in the opposite direction to the lead screw 40 during the movement of withdrawal of the support 11 from the wheel.

The 2CT counter is put out of operation after having counted a predetermined number of pulses of. reestablishment, in the present case 4, so that the support 11 of the grinding wheel and the wheel itself are always brought back, over a determined distance, from the point for which the terminal dimension is reached. When the feed rate is restored in this way, there is no risk that the grinding wheel will engage the workpiece before the end of the rapid feed movement.
