Description

Magnetic sound recording sheet The present invention relates to to a magnetic sound recording sheet intended to to be used on a machine, for the reproduction of magnetic sound recordings, sheet having a magnetic coating film on one side and a photographic sensitive layer, or photo graphing, on the other side, characterized by a protective layer interposed between the magnetic coating film and the sensitive layer photographic, or photography.

The appended drawing represents, by by way of example, some embodiments of the sheet, object of the invention.

Fig. 1 A shows the front of a magnetic sound recording sheet and fig. 1 B the back of it.

Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of a sheet mounted on a panel of a machine for the reproduction of magnetic sound recordings, for recording or reproducing sounds by means of the heads of the turntable of said machine, only the interesting parts of the machine being represented.

Fig. 3 is a sectional view of a magnetic sound recording sheet having a sensitive film on one of its faces, according to a conventional arrangement.

Fig. 4 is a front view of a magnetic sound recording sheet printed with a photograph with part of the sheet removed.

Figs. 5, 6 and 7 are sectional views, to on a larger scale, showing the ends of magnetic sound recording sheets in three ways. my different execution. Fig. 8 is a sectional view of a magnetic recording sheet package, in which the sheets are shown spaced apart to make the design clearer.

As shown in fig. 1 A and 1 B, a magnetic sound recording sheet has an image, photograph or description or the like 2 on its front side and a magnetic coating film 5, delimited by two parallel marginal lines X and Y on its back.

This magnetic coating film 5 is generally formed on a base support 1 of paper or plastic by applying a magnetic varnish or by applying a printing ink containing a powder of magnetic material such as γ-Fe2O.3 or Fe304, or by transferring a magnetic coating film from a sheet bearing such a film capable of being peeled thereon and adhering it to support 1 using an adhesive which must be wet or heated to bond.

When using the sheet on a machine for reproducing magnetic sound recordings, this sheet is placed as shown at la fia. 2 on panel 6 of the machine, by engaging adjustment holes 3 of the sheet on guide pins 7 of the 6 panel to place the sheet in a position that is always well defined, so that its back is facing down. The panel 6 has a window 9 through which the magnetic coating film 5 is exposed.

The machine for the reproduction of magnetic sound recordings has, below the window, a turntable 10 provided with several recording and sound reproduction heads which come into contact with the 5 magnetic coating film each in in turn. This turntable 10 rotates around its axis in the direction of the arrow It and at the same time moves slowly in the direction of the arrow 12 'so to record or to reproduce sound tracks t, as shown to in fig. 1 B.

The machine for the reproduction of magnetic sound recordings has a 8 pressing plate to press the sheet over, so as to obtain good contact between the head a and the magnetic coating film 5 during sound recording or reproduction. The pressing plate 8 is transparent, so that the image, photograph or descriptions, etc., appearing on the front of the sheet can be observed while the sounds of the sheet are reproduced. magnetic sound recording so that we can see and listen at the same time, to better understand the subject treated by the sheet. This constitutes the basic principle of the machine for the reproduction of magnetic sound recordings.

It is sometimes desired that magnetic sound recording sheets as described above bear a photograph on their front. It has been proposed to provide a sensitive film on the front for this effect. Fig. 3 represents such a sheet and, in the drawing, 1 represents the base support, 5 the coating film magnetic and 13 the sensitive film. However, it has been found that with a sheet such as that shown to in FIG. 3, the sensitive film 13, or the photograph formed on this film, is often damaged under the influence of the agent used to ensure the adhesion of the coating film magnetic 5 on the support 1.

There should be provided a sound recording sheet having a sensitive film or a photograph on its front side which is not influenced by the adhesive used to fix the magnetic coating film on the base support of the sheet and for this purpose ' a protective layer is interposed between the magnetic coating film 5 and the sensitive layer 13. </ B >

The sensitive layer 13 is a sheet of silver chloride paper, bromide paper, gravure paper or the like which has been coated with a material comprising gelatin in which silver bromide or other sensitive material is dispersed, or which has been coated with other sensitive material. It is possible to take a - photograph on this film from from an object or from a negative film by the usual photographic processes, such as sensitization of the sensitive film, development , fixing, rinsing, etc.

In order to form a sound magnetic recording film 5 on the base support 1, one can carry out a coating by using a magnetic varnish, the printing of a to coating film using a to printing composition containing a strongly magnetic iron powder or the transfer of a magnetic coating film on the base support from from another sheet having such a film.

This varnish, this composition or even the magnetic to transfer coating film generally contains varnish solvents, which comprise one or more vegetable oils such as linseed oil, oil abrasin, perilla oil, etc., and in addition, in some cases, mineral oils. These oils tend to penetrate and to spread into the base support 1 which is usually paper.

When the oil reaches the sensitive layer 13, or a photograph imprinted on this layer, during the manufacture or storage of the magnetic sound recording sheet, it acts on the sensitive layer or on the photography and reduces sensitivity or spoils the photograph. If, for example, the magnetic sound recording sheet having a sensitive layer on its front side is stored for a long time and the part P corresponding to the magnetic coating film on the other side is influenced by the solvent from the coating film magnetic, while the Q part corresponding to the margins where there is no magnetic coating film is not influenced, a different contrast is obtained in P and Q </ B > when a photograph is taken on this sensitive layer.

In addition, it often occurs that even in the P part the degree of deterioration varies locally, since the penetration of the solvent to from the magnetic coating film is not necessarily uniform. When the photograph is taken on the sensitive layer, similar damage due to the solvent penetrating to can be seen from the magnetic coating film. Magnetic sound recording sheets having a sensitive layer or a completed photograph are generally stored for long periods of time and, therefore, it is very desirable to avoid the effect of the solvent contained in the magnetic coating film on the layer. sensitive or photography.

The unwanted effect of the solvent is effectively suppressed by interposing a protective layer 14 between the magnetic coating film 5 and the layer of sensitive material or a photograph 13. FIG. . 5 represents one of the embodiments of the magnetic sound recording sheet in which the base support is covered with a layer of sensitive material 12 and below the base support 1 is placed a protective layer 14.

The latter is formed by a thin sheet of metal or plastic which is effective in preventing the penetration of a solvent or a material reducing the contrasts contained in a magnetic coating film 5. Below the protective layer is a layer 1 of paper or plastic, the magnetic coating film 5 being formed on this layer 1.

For the manufacture of a magnetic sound recording sheet as shown, the protective layer 14 must be adhered to the base support 1 and to the layer 1 '. To effect this bonding, and in particular to obtain adhesion between the layer 14 and the base support, a material such as of oil is not used. or a contrast attenuating material which can penetrate and diffuse in the layer of sensitive material 12 and influence it and, on the contrary, an adhesive product is chosen which makes it possible to obtain good adhesion, but does not exhibit the effects pests described above.

As an example of such an adhesive vinyl acetate can be mentioned to . It should be understood that the assembly of the base support 1, the protective layer 14 and the lower layer the is first prepared and then the magnetic coating film and a layer of sensitive material are applied over this composite sheet. With such a construction, it is evident that the sensitive material layer, or photograph 12, is effectively protected by the protective layer 14.

Fig. 6 represents another embodiment in which the magnetic coating film 5 is bonded directly to the protective layer 14, without any other layer such as Y < / B> of fig. 5. With this one exception, this sheet is all to made the same as the sheet according to fig. 5.

Fig. 7 represents yet another embodiment of the sheet. This sheet is generally identical to that of FIG. 5, but the layer l ' between the magnetic coating film 5 and the protective layer 14 is of synthetic fiber (for example a layer of 'cellulose acetate) which adheres strongly to the magnetic coating film 5 and the protective layer 14 and which has a width equal to to that 5 Magnetic Coating Film. This l ' layer improves the bonding of 5 and 14 layers and prevents the magnetic coating film from sizing. scaling.

When packing magnetic sound recording sheets with a sensitive layer or photograph for storage or transport, care must be taken that the sensitive layer or photograph does not come into contact with the sound film. magnetic coating which contains strong ground or a material which attenuates contrasts and which is harmful to the sensitive layer or to photography.

Fig. 8 represents packaging which prevents the aforementioned contact. In this figure, S ' represents a magnetic sound recording sheet as described and 15 represents a thin sheet of metal or material plastic which is not influenced by the solvent or the contrast attenuating material of the magnetic film of the sheet S ', nor let them penetrate . The 15 sheets are alternately interposed between the S ' magnetic sound recording sheets and these sheets are stacked to form a 16 Au package. drawing, the S ' sheets and the 15 sheets are shown far apart, for the sole purpose of to make the drawing clearer,

but it is quite obvious that they - are in contact with each other in the packaging. S ' sheets can be stored for a long time without causing damage to the sensitive layer or the photograph of the sheets.
