Description
Process for the production of roller bearing cages It is known to produce roller bearing cages in a powder-metal lurgischem way and thereby achieve a ratio nelle production without machining. However, the known roller bearing cages of this type are all made in one piece.
Since, however, a pressure of the order of magnitude of 4 to 8 t per cm2 of the projected pressing surface is required to compact the metal powder, presses with a very high pressure capacity are required for pressed parts with a large pressing surface. In addition, such compacts, which are undivided and have a large pressing surface, have a very large diameter, so that the channel widths of the piercing ovens used in sintering technology are no longer sufficient.
These disadvantages are eliminated by the invention in a method for producing roller bearing cages in that, according to the invention, the cage body made of sintered metal is pressed and sintered in individual segments, the individual segments then put together and by means of punched and embossed side plates made of sheet metal get connected. In an advantageous embodiment of the roller bearing cage, the separation points of the segments lie in the roller pockets.
Since the cage bodies are composed of pressed and sintered segments in the method according to the invention for producing roller bearing cages, they can be produced in smaller, simpler and consequently cheaper pressing tools. Since the projected pressing area of these Seg ments is smaller than in the known cages, which are made of one piece, presses with less high pressure can be used.
Finally, the channel widths of the pusher-type furnaces used in sintering technology are also sufficient for sintering these segments. An embodiment of a roller bearing cage produced by the method according to the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 shows a complete cage body, Fig. 2 shows a segment of the same, Fig. 3 shows the shape of the cross section in section A-A and Fig. 4 in section B-B.
5 shows a section of the cage body segment and the two side panels.
FIG. 6 shows a section analogous to FIG. 3 through the roller bearing cage.
The cage body according to FIG. 1 has three segments made of sintered metal. The separation points 1 of the segments are in the cage pockets. The individual segment, as shown in FIG. 2, is pressed and sintered in a known powder-metallurgical way. The end faces 2, 3 of a segment are formed at an obtuse angle to achieve better guidance and advantageously have an angle of 120, for example.
The shape of the cross section of a segment can be seen from FIG. 3 in section A -A and from FIG. 4 in section B -B. During the pressing process, the recesses 5 are pressed into the cage body base outside and inside in the circumferential direction, into which the two legs of a punched sheet metal ring 8, which is embossed in a U-shape, engage during the calibration of the cage.
This ring forms one side window. On the side opposite the bottom of the cage body, a projection 6 is provided in the circumferential direction, on which the cage cover 10 stamped from sheet metal rests in the finished rolling bearing cage. This cage cover is shaped like a step and forms the other side window. After sintering and pressing, rivet holes 7 are drilled into the cage bars of the segments.
For assembly, the individual segments are placed in a die that has exactly the negative shape of the cage. The legs of the sheet metal ring 8 are then pressed into the recesses 5. The mass of the U-shaped cross section of the sheet metal ring 8 and the recesses 5 are held in such a way that a sufficiently large cohesion of the individual parts is guaranteed until the assembly is complete. This work process is accompanied by a mass calibration of the cage body.
After the rolling elements 9 have been inserted, the cage cover 10 is placed on top. Then the sheet metal ring 8, the cage cover 10 and the cage body 12 are connected by rivets 11.
The roller bearing cages produced in this way have, in addition to the advantage of economical production, great stability and, due to the design of the cage body made of sintered metal, have excellent emergency running properties. To improve this, the cage body can also be soaked with a suitable lubricant.
If the method according to the invention has also been shown for the production of a roller bearing cage for cylinder rolls, it is, however, by no means limited to this design.
