Description

Rail for an electric train, reduced model The present invention relates to a rail for a reduced model of an electric train and intended for the assembly of tracks, formed of two running rails fixed parallel to one another on sleepers or a support . These tracks are currently in common use for the assembly of small model electric train circuits. Generally, these tracks still take a third central rail fixed to the sleepers, but electrically isolated from them.

This central rail is connected to one of the poles of a source of electricity, and a sliding contact carried by the motive loco slides along this central rail, while the return is effected by the wheels of the locomotive and the two running rails connected to the second pole of the electricity source.

These channels therefore allow the power supply of only a single direct current circuit or single-phase alternating current. Now, it would be interesting to provide tracks allowing a three-phase current supply, or the independent power supply of two or three different circuits so that the user can make several trains run on the tracks independently of each other.

The rail which is the subject of the invention remedies the disadvantage mentioned above of the rails known by the fact that it comprises a head having two longitudinal conductors linked to each other by a molded insulating material, but of which at least one part of the outer face of each is bare over their entire length so as to form a current contact over the entire length of the rail.

The single attached figure illustrates schematically and by way of example an embodiment seen in section of the rail according to the invention.

The rail according to said embodiment comprises a core 1 connecting a foot 2 to a mushroom 3. This mushroom has two longitudinal conductors 4, 5 connected to each other by molded material 6. The outer surface of each of these conductors is exposed and forms a current contact over the entire length of the rail.

As shown partially in the drawing in mixed lines, two rails, as described are fixed parallel to one another on a support 7 using clamps 8, in order to form a track comprising four conductors along which can sliding sliding contacts (not shown) worn by vehicles traveling on the track.

Thus, each of the two rails of the track having two conductors, we immediately see that we have, in the embodiment shown; three, current feeds, since the conductors 5 are electrically connected to each other by the support 7.

Nevertheless, these three conductors make it possible to supply two vehicles with single-phase or direct alternating current at two different voltages. As a result, these two vehicles can be operated independently of each other.

These three conductors also supply the motor of a locomotive with three-phase current.

In a variant, the foot of each rail can be wrapped at the location of each clamp 8 with a sheet of insulating material clamped between the clamp 8, the foot 2 and the support 7, as is customary current for fixing a central conductor rail on the tracks for electric trains.

In this case, the track has four current contacts over its entire length and along each of which can slide a sliding contact worn by vehicles traveling on the track. Such a track, provided with four longitudinal conductors, makes it possible, for example, to supply direct current or single-phase alternating current to three locomotives controlled independently of each other or to a three-phase locomotive with neutral.

It is clear that many other power supply variants can be provided with the aid of a track produced using rails as described and comprising two longitudinal conductors.

As shown in the appended drawing, it is advantageous to provide one of the longitudinal conductors 5 formed in a single piece of manufacture with the foot 2 of the rail and constituting a part of the upper surface of the head 3 and forming the running surface. . The other conductor 4 preferably forms part of the internal surface of the mushroom 3 and comprises at least one anchoring member 9 coated with the molded material.

The angle a formed by the two conductive surfaces b and c of the conductors 4 and 5 is smaller than 900 so that the flange of the wheel of the vehicle traveling on the track is guided by the surface d of the molded material. and can therefore in no case come into contact with the conductive surface c.

In an alternative embodiment, the two conductors 4, 5 could be embedded in the molded material 6 and only a part of the outer surface of each of them could be exposed to form a longitudinal contact running over the entire length of the rail.

In another variant, the conductive surfaces b and c could form an angle of 900 and the surface c be arranged set back from the surface d so as to prevent contact of the flange of the wheel with this surface c.
