The invention relates to a calender roll with a flexurally rigid roll core and a roll shell rigidly connected to it and formed from several layers of an elastically flexible material, as well as a method for producing the calender roll. Such calender rolls are used for.
B. as counter rollers to embossing or smoothing rollers that are Herge made of steel or a similar hard material.
For the production of known counter rollers of the aforementioned type, a fabric, the width of which corresponds to the length of the roller shell, coated with an adhesive and wrapped with its coated side inside with the help of a pressure roller or the like in so many layers around the rigid roller core, until the winding has the required thickness. Since the aforementioned elastic-yielding materials only have a comparatively low tensile strength, the web of material can only be wrapped around the roller core with a correspondingly low pressure, thereby obtaining a relatively loose roller jacket.
Such a roll shell is not able to withstand the flexing forces that occur when the counter roll is used, and as a result suffers from great wear and tear. Attempts have been made to impregnate the outer layer of the winding with a suitable material in order to increase the resistance of the roll shell to the mechanical stresses that occur when the counter roll is used. However, no major practical success could be achieved with it.
The calender roll according to the invention is distinguished from the known rolls for the purpose of avoiding the disadvantages mentioned in that the individual layers of the roll shell connected to one another by means of a binding agent are formed by at least one web of material and all layers are pressed together to form a uniform, compacted shell body.
The method according to the invention for the production of the calender roll according to the invention is characterized in that the roll core is wrapped with means of at least one web of elastic, flexible material and the layers are pressed together to form a uniform, compacted jacket body.
In the drawing, two Ausführungsbei are playing the calender roll according to the invention and the manufacturing method according to the invention represents. It shows: Fig. 1 the roll core according to the first embodiment with a partially wound roll shell, Fig. 2 shows a similar roll core with a completely wound roll shell in a different design to Fig. 1, Fig. 3 an auxiliary device for pressing together the wound shell body blank,
4 schematically shows a cross-section of the winding according to FIG. 2, FIG. 5 shows the roller core according to the second embodiment with a partially wound-up roller shell, modified design and: FIG. 6 shows a web of material used to produce the roller shell according to FIG.
In all the exemplary embodiments, the flexurally rigid roller core denoted by 1 consists of steel or a similar material with ends designed as trunnions 1ca. The roller core 1 carries rigidly connected to it coils 2 and 3, between tween which the generally designated 4, made of an elastic-resilient material such as paper, nonwoven fabric, fabric or the like produced Wal zenmantel is arranged.
If the roll shell 4 consists of a web of material wound in several layers around the roll core 1 (FIGS. 2 and 4) or a plurality of such webs of material (FIG. 1), the coils 2 and 3 can be permanently connected to the roll core 1.
If, on the other hand, the roll shell consists of a multitude of layers of a web of material lying next to one another in the axial direction, one of the two collars, as in FIG or another suitable device can be determined.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1, the roll shell consists of several wrapping layers 4a, 4b etc., each layer being formed by a narrow strip of elastic, flexible material, which is helically around the between the coils 2 and 3 lying part of the roller core 1 is wound. The hinge screw turns of adjacent winding layers have opposite slopes.
The embodiment according to FIG. 2 shows a roll shell which is formed by means of an elastically flexible nonwoven web 4, the width of which corresponds to the distance between the coils 2 and 3 and which is in several layers according to FIG. 4 around the part lying between the coils of the roll core 1 is wound.
In both types of winding according to FIGS. 1 and 2, the material forming the individual layers are windings undjbzw. the individual layers of the winding of the roll shell blank are connected to one another with the aid of suitable binders.
For this purpose, the aforementioned webs of material used to wrap the roller core 1 are soaked with a cold or warm curing, polymerizing or vulcanizing compound and, depending on the nature of this compound, are subjected to the action of heat during the wrapping around the roller core 1.
Since the elastic-resilient materials used for winding only have a low tensile strength, as with the known comparable calender rolls mentioned at the outset, a relatively loose casing body is obtained, even if the roll core 1 is wound with the aid of a pressure roll or the like takes place.
The wrapping consisting of one or more webs of fabric is then pressed together on the entire web surface by a radial layer, essentially perpendicular to the surface of its layers formed by the wrapping layers, from the outside inwards from the outside in to form a uniform, compacted casing. For this purpose, the still loose jacket blank is helically wrapped with a lee Ren hose 7.
The entire structure consisting of the roll core 1, the winding 4 and the hose layer 7 is then pushed into a steel sleeve 8 and the hose 7 is filled with a liquid under high pressure. Since the hose 7 exerts the above-mentioned in the radial direction from the outside inward acting pressure on the wrapping 4 and presses the fabric webs or fabric web layers together to form a uniform, compressed shell body in which the turns of each layer and / or the layers through the Binders are interconnected.
Then the pressure fluid is drained from the hose 7, the sleeve 8 is pulled off, the hose is unwound and the outer surface of the casing body is finished to a cylindrical shape by turning or grinding. The pressure fluid can optionally be heated and then accordingly heats the winding 4 during the compression, provided that such heating offers advantages for the intimate connection of the individual winding layers depending on the type of mass with which the winding 4 is impregnated. Instead of the hydraulic fluid, a gaseous medium can also be used.
The production of the roll shell 4 in the exemplary embodiment of FIG. 5 is done as follows: A generally designated 9 fabric web of suitable width is broken down into two unilaterally ge zigzag strips 11 with the help of a ge through their midfield zigzag cut. Each band 11 contains a plurality of prongs 12 and is brought by cutting the prong tips 12n to one of the thickness A of the roll shell 4 to be produced corre sponding width. Then the two belts 11, their prongs 12 inwardly and their continuous side edge 11a on the outside, in helical lines 13 around the roller core 1 is wound.
The screw turns 13 of the two tapes can lie one inside the other (two-ply winding up), with the winding of only one tape being shown in FIG. 5 for the sake of clarity.
The screw turns 13 or the serrated bands 11 used for their production are coated or coated with a suitable binder, so that the turns which form the individual layers of the casing body 4, after they are carried out in the axial direction, press over the entire surface of the Windings are intimately connected to one another and form a uniform compacted casing body. The pressing together takes place with the help of the ring collar 3, which is arranged movably in the axial direction on the roller core, by exerting a corresponding axial pressure on this ring collar from the outside.
The aforementioned binding agent also enters the gap between the outer surface of the roller core 1 and the cut prongs 12 of the wound tapes 11 resting against this surface. The binding agent, with a suitable composition, accordingly not only causes the individual screw turns to stick together closely Uniform roll shell, but also good adhesion of this roll shell to the roll core 1. If necessary, one can also apply binding agent to the inner edges 12b of the prongs 12 and / or on the shell surface of the roller core 1, which is created after the prongs 12a have been cut off to achieve good adhesion of the jacket body 4 to the roller core 1.
After compressing the screw windings 13 of the two bands and attaching the washer 6, the nut 5 is tightened and thereby the collar 3 is pressed firmly against the ver sealed casing body 4. The outer surface of the jacket body 4 can now be turned or ground smooth.
All of the calender rolls described above have in common that the individual layers of the roll shell that are connected to one another by impregnation or coating with a suitable binder, which either lie next to one another as helical windings in the axial direction or as wrapping layers in the radial direction and are formed by at least one web of material, simultaneously pressure exerted on all layers and essentially perpendicular to the surface of the fabric web are pressed together to form a uniform jacket body.
As already mentioned, it is important that when the pressure is applied over the entire surface in the radial direction from the outside to the inside, it simultaneously covers all layers. This achieves a much higher compression of the casing body and resistance to flexing forces and other mechanical stresses acting on its outer surface.
