Description

   Si l'on pose :
 v   =    V cos wt
 i   = I    cos   (cot-q))
V et I désignant respectivement les amplitudes de v et i, w la pulsation du courant et (p le déphasage de i par rapport à v, la puissance moyenne absorbée
 VI dans le circuit est W = # cos #.

   2

   vi    = H sin   (sot-a)    et v2 = H sin   (#t    + a) obtenues à partir de v,   a    étant un angle inférieur à   10o    tel que

   vt    = H sin   (cot-a)

 tga=kV

 i'c = # sin (# - α) i''c = # sin (# + α0 2 2
 i''c - i'c Ki
 J = # = # cos # sin α
 Ki kV kK
 = # cos # cos α

   V,    = Vo sin   #t    - kV cos out =   ##    sin   (#t    -   α)
 cos a
 V0
 V2 = V0 sin   #t    + kV cos   #t    =   #    sin   (#t    +   α)
 cos   α

   On a kV = V0 tg   α    (page 2,

  Device for measuring the power absorbed by an electric circuit
 The present invention relates to a device intended for the precise measurement of the power absorbed by an electric circuit, and more particularly of the power absorbed by devices connected to an energy network, at 50 Hz for example, the voltage of which varies. within restricted limits around a nominal value.

   It is known that the real power absorbed in an element of an electrical circuit in which a current of intensity i flows under an instantaneous voltage v is the average value of the product vi.

   If we ask:
 v = V cos wt
 i = I cos (cot-q))
V and I denoting respectively the amplitudes of v and i, w the current pulsation and (p the phase shift of i with respect to v, the average power absorbed
 VI in the circuit is W = # cos #.

   2
 To achieve this product, one could consider using a simple passive linear inversion modulator, to the input circuit of which the current i would be applied, or a current proportional to i, and whose control circuit would receive the voltage v; the current collected in its output circuit would then be of the form: f (V) Ki cos (a) t- (p) [cos wt + 3 cos 30) t + 5 cos 51ot.] and the continuous component of this current would be proportional to f (V) i cos (p.

   In the Fourier series, the output current of the modulator is proportional to: a-the input current Ki cos (wt-cp); (3-the conductance of cells released by the
 voltage v, which is the function f (V) of V; y — the so-called square wave function; it is indeed
 the essential role of the ring modulator to have
 a conductance whose variation is represented
 ted by a square wave. The amount between cro
 chets in the above formula is the expand
 ment of a square wave in Fourier series.

   As for the DC component, an elementary tri-gonometric calculation (evaluation of each product of cosines in the form of a sum of two terms containing the sum and the difference of the pulsations) shows that the function
 cos (out) (cos wt + cos 3wt + has a continuous term, which is cos cp.

   But f (V) is only proportional to V for very small values of said voltage, and it tends on the other hand towards a constant when v becomes sufficiently large with respect to I. A device comprising a simple inversion modulator therefore does not allow to obtain a current whose mean value gives a measurement of the product VI cos cp independent of the dispersion of the characteristics of the nonlinear elements of said modulator, only for very low values of the voltage, and it is therefore not suitable to the needs of the practice.

   The device according to the invention is not subject to this limitation. It is characterized by the fact that it comprises two inversion modulators, the input circuits of which are supplied by a current proportional to i, the control circuits of which are supplied respectively by two voltages
   vi = H sin (sot-a) and v2 = H sin (#t + a) obtained from v, a being an angle less than 10o such that
 V vo- k being a constant and Vo a reference voltage, and the output circuits of which are connected respectively, through low-pass filters allowing only the DC modulation components to pass,

   to the input terminals of a mixing device to the output of which a current measuring device is connected.

   The operation of such a device will now be explained, with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2 appended hereto, which show, by way of example, a block diagram and a practical embodiment, respectively.

   The device comprises means for developing auxiliary voltages v, and v2 of the form
   vt = H sin (cot-a)
   V2 = Hsin (m + a) and to apply these voltages respectively to the control terminals of two inversion modulators Mt and M2, the input circuits of which are supplied with a current proportional to i.

   In the expression of v, and v2, a is defined by
 tga = kV
 considering k being a constant and Vo a reference voltage, k and Vo being chosen so that a remains small enough, and H designates the amplitude of V1 and V2, which can vary with a, but which remains quite large anyway so as not to influence the value of the currents i 'and i "obtained at the output of M, and M2.

   These currents are of the form: i '= Ki cos (#t - #) [sin (#t - α) + 1/3 sin 3 (#t - α) + @ @@] i' '= Ki cos (#t - #) [sin (#t + α) + 1/3 sin 3 (#t + α) + @@ @] and their continuous components i'c, i''c are respectively
 Ki Ki
 i'c = # sin (# - α) i''c = # sin (# + α 0 2 2
 By performing the combination of these currents in a balanced bridge, we obtain, in two of the opposite branches of this one, a current:
 i''c - i'c Ki
 J = # = # cos # sin α
 Ki kV kK
 = # cos # cos α### W 2 V0 V0 the intensity of which is proportional to the power W to be measured, a being assumed to be small.

   The expression of the currents i 'and i ", as well as that of their continuous components i' ° and i" °, result from the same considerations as in the case described above.

   On the other hand, in a balanced bridge with equal arms (fig. 2), the application of a voltage between two opposite vertices creates a zero voltage between two vertices, which makes it possible to add two direct currents without causing a reaction. from one source to another. An elementary construction immediately shows that we have in two opposite arms the sum of the half-currents, and in the two other arms the difference of the half-currents. This is a well-known result for a very long time.

   The device making it possible to obtain the voltages vl and Vg consists of two circuits supplied at their input terminals by the voltage V cos wt. The first circuit comprises a passive clipping 1 and a phase-shifting quadrature filter 2: a constant amplitude voltage Vo sin out is collected at its output. The second circuit comprises an attenuator network 3: a voltage kV cos wt is collected at its output, kV being much less than Vo (less than A Vo for example). At their output, these two circuits are respectively connected to two pairs of opposite terminals of a differential octopole 4.

   At the other two pairs of opposite terminals of the latter one therefore collects voltages
   V, = Vo sin #t - kV cos out = ## sin (#t - α)
 cos a
 V0
 V2 = V0 sin #t + kV cos #t = # sin (#t + α)
 cos α
 It is well known that in an octopole (often called transformer: balanced differential, one collects, between two pairs of opposite terminals, the sum and the difference of the voltages applied to the two other pairs of terminals. This is what the relation expresses above.

   We have kV = V0 tg α (page 2,
 sin α line 28), and if we replace tg α by #
 cos α we find the formulas above.

   These voltages v1 and v2 are applied respectively, as has been said, to the control terminals of two inversion modulators Mi and Me, the input circuits of which are supplied by a current proportional to i = I cos (t-sp).

   The output circuits MI and Ma are connected to low-pass filters 5 and 6, at the output of which only the DC components of the modulation products remain; these DC components are applied to the input terminals of a mixer member 7, at the output of which a current proportional to their difference is collected, and therefore very substantially proportional to the then
 VI sance W = # cos #. This current is applied to a
 2 measuring device 8 of conventional type.

   As an example we can assume that ly. is chosen equal to 10, for the nominal value of the voltage V. If then V varies by 20%, a varies from 8) 2 ′ to 11 57 ′ and cos a from 0, 978 to 0, 990, its value being 0, 985 for the nominal network voltage. The amplitude of-! L of the auxiliary voltages
 cos a vl and v. therefore remains substantially constant, and the current proportional to cos a varies only by 1, 2%.

  The precision is therefore satisfactory, and it could be further increased by reducing the value of a for the nominal voltage.

   Fig. 2 shows a practical embodiment of the measuring device described.

   The current Ki = KI cos (wt-cp) is applied to the terminals aa 'of the primary winding of the input transformer T of a balanced differential network D, and the voltage V cos ozt is applied to the terminals bb' of 1 primary winding of the input transformer T of a balanced differential network Da.

   Clip 1 is made up of two diodes, connected in parallel in the opposite direction, and of which the Zener effect is used. The phase-shift filter 2 is formed by a low-pass cell at a. Mi and M modulators are ring modulators.

   The mixing member 7 is a bridge with equal branches, in one of which is arranged a measuring device 8, on the dial of which the number is then read.
 VI sance W = # cos #.

  2
 It is clear that by inserting the quadrature phase-shifting filter at the output of the attenuator network instead of inserting it at the output of the limiter, we would measure the wattage power W = - sin (p instead of the power real W = cos sp.
