Description

Metal frame pair The present invention relates to a metal frame pair for windows and doors with a stop frame and casement frame. This sash frame can be a pivot sash, a reversible sash or a rotary sash. In most of the metal frames of this type that have been used up to now, one of the two frames has a T-profile and the other a Z-profile. Each of the two frames then engages with a stop flange on the outside or inside over the other frame, so that a hollow space is formed in this way, which can also be divided if desired.

Depending on the quality of the frame design, the individual stop points are provided with sealing means so that the cavities close more or less tightly. In order to reduce the thermal conductivity transversely to the frame plane, it is also known to assemble each of these frames from two or more subframes, the individual subframes being mechanically connected to one another by intermediate insulating layers.

Experience has now shown that all these metal frame pairs can be used properly, but do not do what was actually expected of them. In particular, it was found that it is practically impossible to close the outer chamber completely watertight. As a result, in stormy rainy weather, it was unavoidable that this chamber was filled with water and that the water that could not find an adequate drainage also got into the inner chamber and from there into the interior of the building.

This disadvantage is now to be eliminated in the frame pair according to the present invention. In the case of the present pair of frames, too, the stop frame and the sash frame together delimit, in the closed state, two cavities running all around, one behind the other in the transverse direction to the frame plane and separated from one another by a seal.

The frame pair according to the invention is characterized in that only one of the two frames engages over the other on the inside by means of a flange, that the cross-section of the outer cavity has an outwardly directed opening to form an air storage space and that the two frames have stiffening projections,

which form the holding or stop surface of the separating seal between the two Hohlräu men and at the same time close the outer cavity against the inner cavity except for such a wide gap that no capillary action can be exerted on the water.

The accompanying drawing shows four exemplary embodiments of the invention in section, namely FIG. 1 is a section through the first, FIG. 2 through the second, FIG. 3 through the third and FIG. 4 through the fourth embodiment. The first embodiment has a stop frame 1 consisting of a single profile piece and a sash frame composed of two profile pieces 2 and 3.

In the drawing voltage, the inside is denoted by 1, the outside by A. As you can see, only the wing frame engages with its flange 3a on the inside sealingly over the stop frame 1 and thus closes the cavity 4.

The two sealing strips 5 and 6, of which the first can be fastened to the flange 3a and close the stop point between this flange and the inner leg of the stop frame 1, which is basically U-shaped, serve to provide a tight seal. The base of the U-shaped stop frame 1 has a stiffening projection 1b which serves as a stop surface for the second seal 6.

The profile piece 2 of the casement also has a stiffening projection, which is designated 2b and is designed so that the two projections are symmetrical in section with respect to an axis 7-7 perpendicular to the plane of the frame. The stiffening projection 2b and the leg 3b of the profile piece designated as a whole by 3 serve as holding surfaces for the sealing strip 6, to which it can be attached in any known manner.

The two Ver stiffening projections lb and 2b closing outer cavity 8, which lies in the transverse direction 7-7 to the frame plane behind the cavity 4 and is about 7 mm deep and about 7 mm wide in the minumum, partially inward, but only up to one such a wide gap 9 that it cannot exert any capillary action on the water which penetrates through the opening 10 into the cavity 8. It has proven to be useful

to leave a gap 9 of 2 to 8 mm wide between the two stiffening projections and to make it at least 8 mm long. On the part of the profile piece 2 opposite the stiffening projection 2b, one or more glass rebate strips 11 and guides 12 for venetian blinds and their actuating organs can be attached.

The frame construction described above has proven itself extremely well in tests, which is due to the fact that an air cushion is formed in the externally open cavity 8, especially during rainstorms, which makes the entry of water difficult and in any case prevents it from reaching the seal 6 reaches, whereas any rainwater that has entered can easily flow out again, since the opening 10 running around it is large enough not to obstruct the drainage.

It goes without saying that the section of the circumferential cavity 8 running in the lower frame leg has holes 13 in the outer wall through which the water that collects there can flow away to the outside.

The section shown in the drawing is, as can be easily seen, at a point on the stop frame at which the casement opens inwards. Where the casement opens outwards, the profile piece 3 and the two sealing strips 5 and 6 are arranged in a mirror image with respect to the axis 7 to the position shown in the drawing, so that the profile piece 3 is attached to the profile piece 1 and sealingly engages over the frame 2, against which the sealing strip 5 then also rests. The sealing strip 6, however, is held firmly by the profile pieces 1 and 3.

Fig. 2 shows a section through the second embodiment of the invention. Here the stop frame consists of two sub-frames, an outer one, denoted by 21, and an inner one, denoted by 22.

These two sub-frames are mechanically connected to one another by a heat-insulating layer 23. The casement also has two parts that are thermally conductive from one another, an outer part 24 and an inner part consisting of two profile pieces 25 and 26, which is connected to the outer frame part 24 by an isolating gate 27. The leg 26a of the essentially L-shaped profile piece 26 engages on one side in a sealing manner over the stop frame 21/22. It could also be seen here before the sealing strip 5 of the first exemplary embodiment corresponding sealing strip.

The profile pieces 21 and 24 delimit an outer cavity 28 which has an outer opening 29 and a gap 32 limited by the two stiffening projections 21a and 24a against the seal 30, which closes it off from the inner cavity 31. The requirement also applies to this gap that it should be so deep that the air cushion in the chamber 28 prevents water splashes from entering the seal 30, and that the distance between the ribs 21a and 24a should be large enough to prevent capillary action. The leg 26b of the profile piece 26 can be as short as it is drawn or as long as the corresponding leg 3b in FIG. 1.

If the casement has to open outwards, the profile piece 26 is not attached to the profile piece 25, but to the profile piece 22 so that the seal 30 is then held between the part frame 21 and the leg 26b. In this exemplary embodiment, a glass rebate strip 33, which can be provided with guides for slat blinds, or any other glass rebate strip can also be attached to the casement 24/25/26.

Tests have shown that this frame construction, due to the outwardly open chamber 28, which forms an air cushion in rainstorms, has the same good sealing properties as the pair of frames described first and that the thermal conductivity of this second frame construction is significantly lower than that through which the Fig Figure 1 shows a cross section.

Fig. 3 shows another embodiment of a so-called insulating window: The Stopprah men is formed by the two subframes 31 and 32, which are connected by rivets 33 and 34 with an insulating intermediate piece 35, while the casement is composed of two subframes 36 and 37, which are connected to an intermediate insulating piece 40 by rivets 38 and 39. The two outer sub-frames 31 and 36 have stiffening projections 31a and 36a, respectively, through which the cavity 41, which is open to the outside, is partially, but not completely, closed inwards.

The seal 42, which is clamped between the stiffening projection 36a and the leg 37a of the inner sub-frame 37 and rests tightly on the stiffening projection 31a when the frame is closed, is used to seal the inside. The leg 37b closes the cavity 45 on the inside. The statements made above regarding the configuration of the open cavity 41 and the closed cavity 45 and their mode of operation also apply to this embodiment.

As shown in the figure, a glass rebate strip 43 can be fastened to the inner sub-frame 37 so that the pane 44 can be cemented between this glass rebate strip 43 and the outer sub-frame 36.

4 shows a section through an exemplary embodiment similar to the frame pair described above, in which, however, each frame has two intermediate pieces 51 and 52, respectively 53 and 54, instead of the intermediate pieces 35 and 40 made of any insulating material. Otherwise, these frames are designed the same as those shown in FIG.

The frame structures described are not only better than the previously known construction methods in terms of the quality of the room closure, but they also have other, not insignificant advantages: There are only a few, very simple profile pieces required for their production, which makes quick and cheap assembly allowed. Because of this simplicity, the look both inside and out is very pleasing. Of course, additional sealing inserts can be provided before or after the gap 9 for certain cases.
