Description

   Beispiel 2

   Beispiel 3

Process for the production of synthetic polyamides
The present invention relates to a process for the production of synthetic polyamides in finely divided form.

The addition of water to solutions of synthetic polyamides in water-miscible solvents causes the synthetic polyamide to precipitate in a form that is not finely divided but is usually fibrous. It is difficult to convert such a fibrous precipitate into a finely divided form by milling. Processes used to date for the production of synthetic polyamides in finely divided form require heating the polyamide with organic solvents at high temperature and subsequent cooling of the solution.

Such processes decompose and discolor the synthetic polyamides. In addition, it is difficult to produce particles of uniform size using such processes.

The inventive method for the production of synthetic polyamides in finely divided 3? orm is characterized in that a dilute aqueous formic acid solution, which does not contain more than 45% by weight of formic acid, is mixed with a solution of the synthetic polyamide in formic acid or in a concentrated aqueous formic acid solution, which contains at least 80% by weight. o Formic acid contains, mixed and the finely divided synthetic polyamide precipitated in this way is isolated.

Examples of synthetic polyamides that can be used for the process according to the invention are polyhexamethylene adipamide and polycaproamide.

If a concentrated aqueous formic acid solution is used to dissolve the synthetic polyamide, it is preferable to use one which contains not less than 85% by weight of formic acid. The dilute aqueous formic acid solution that is used to precipitate the polyamide preferably contains 17.5 to 45% by weight of formic acid.

The amount of dilute aqueous formic acid solution that causes the synthetic polyamide to precipitate out of the solution. is required in formic acid, is calculated so that an aqueous miso solution of formic acid is obtained in which the synthetic polyamide in question is only slightly soluble. The most satisfactory results are obtained when the aqueous mixed solution of formic acid contains between 45 and 70% by weight of formic acid.

The formic acid used does not need. to be completely pure and can e.g. B. small proportions of other water-miscible solvents such. B. acetic acid or alcohol.

The process according to the invention is preferably carried out at atmospheric temperatures (although temperatures up to 50 ° C. can be used if desired) by dissolving a synthetic polyamide in formic acid or in a concentrated aqueous formic acid solution with a content of not less than 80% by weight. Formic acid releases such an amount of a dilute aqueous formic acid solution with a content of 17.5 to 45% by weight of formic acid that the mixed solutions of formic acid thus obtained are between 45 and 70% by weight.

/ e contain formic acid, the precipitated, finely divided synthetic polyamide is filtered off, washed with water, and the product is dried if desired.

The finely divided synthetic polyamide obtained in this way consists of small particles of uniform size and can be used as a press powder when dry. It can also be incorporated into pigments, especially before drying. The pigment mixtures obtained in this way are valuable for coloring synthetic polyamide and polyester compositions and can also be used for the production of coating compositions for coating paper or textiles or for coloring polymeric materials suitable for pressing or extrusion.

After the finely divided synthetic polyamide has been isolated, the formic acid liquids (which contain 45 to 70% by weight of formic acid) contain such small amounts of synthetic polyamide in solution that they can be chemically processed without any further treatment Industry can be used for those processes in which an aqueous formic acid is required.

With the method according to the invention, an economical and simple method for the production of synthetic polyamides in the form of small particles of uniform size was created.

The discoloration or decomposition of the synthetic polyamide is not worth mentioning.

In the following examples, the parts and percentages are to be understood in terms of weight.

   example 1
394 parts of a dilute aqueous formic acid solution with a formic acid content of 45% are mixed with stirring with a solution of 63 parts of polyhexamethylene adipamide in 425 parts of 85% formic acid at atmospheric temperature. The mixture is stirred for 30 minutes, then left to stand for 20 hours, and the polyhexamethylene adipamide precipitated in the form of fine particles is filtered off and washed with 10,000 parts of water.

The aqueous paste, which contains particles between 5 Á and 50 Á, is then dried at 90-100 ° C. Polyhexamaphylene adipamide is obtained in the form of a white powder.

   Example 2
A solution of 120 parts of polycaproamide in 600 parts of 90% formic acid is mixed with 521 parts of a dilute aqueous formic acid solution with a formic acid content of 21% at atmospheric temperature with stirring.

Then 248 parts of a dilute aqueous formic acid solution with a formic acid content of 17.5% are added, and the resulting mixture is stirred for 30 meows, then left to stand for 20 hours, and that. Polycaproamide precipitated in the form of fine particles is filtered off and washed with 12,000 parts of water. The aqueous paste thus obtained, which contains particles of different sizes between 5 and 50, is then dried at 90 to 100.degree.

Polycaproamide is obtained in the form of a white powder.

   Example 3
A solution of 63 parts of polyhexamethylene adipamide in 83 parts of 95% strength formic acid is mixed with 240 parts of an aqueous formic acid solution with a formic acid content of 17.5% at 309 ° C. while stirring. The mixture is stirred for 30 minutes, then left to stand for 20 hours, and the polyhexamethylene adipamide precipitated in the form of fine particles is filtered off and washed with 10,000 parts of water.

The aqueous paste obtained in this way is suitable for grinding with pigments, pigment compounds being obtained which can be used for coloring polyhexamethylene adipamide compositions.

   Example 4
A solution of 63 parts of polyhexamethylene adipamide in 425 parts of 85% formic acid is mixed with 618 parts of a dilute aqueous formic acid solution with a formic acid content of 17.5% at atmospheric temperature while stirring. The mixture is stirred for 30 minutes, then left to stand for 20 hours, and the polyhexamethylene adipamide, which is precipitated in the form of fine particles, is filtered off and washed with 10,000 parts of water.

The aqueous paste obtained in this way is suitable for grinding with pigments, pigment compounds being obtained which can be used for coloring polyhexamethylene adipamide compositions.
