Wijn in Philips Technical Review , Band 14, Seite 245 (1952, 1953) beschriebenen Ver fahren erhalten.
Process for producing a ferromagnetic material It is known that ferromagnetic iron oxide compounds (so-called ferrites) with a spinel structure can have high initial permeability values (see, for example, J. J. Went and E. W. Gorter, Philips Technical Review, Volume 13, page 181 (1952)). However, this does not apply to very high frequencies (e.g. 50 MHz and more).
It has now been found that a compound, the composition of which corresponds approximately to 17.6 mol% Ba0, 11.8 mol% CoO and 70.6 mol% Fe 2 O 3 differs from the previously known ferrites with a spinel structure in that it even at frequencies of 50 MHz and often significantly higher frequencies can have relatively high values of the initial permeability.
X-ray tests showed that this compound is characterized by a crystal structure whose unit cell can be described in the hexagonal crystal system with a c-axis of about 52.3 A and an a-axis of about 5.9 A. The chemical composition of this compound can be given by the formula Ba3Co2Fe24041.
From further investigations it was found that the Ba ions in the aforementioned formula can be partially replaced by Sr, Ca, Pb ions or a combination of these ions, to a maximum of one third.
The invention relates to a method for producing a ferromagnetic material which consists at least partially of ferromagnetic crystals, in particular for frequencies of at least 50 MHz, which method is characterized in that ferromagnetic crystals of the formula in which formula 0 <_a:
_1 0_ <b <_1 O <c <_1 O < j-b + c <1 , and which crystals belong to the hexagonal crystal system and from unit cells with a c -Axis of about 52.3 A and an a-axis of about 5.9 A are made by heating a finely divided mixture of substances that converts the oxides of the metals contained in the crystals into these oxides when heated / or contains compounds of these oxides with one another in the required weight ratio.
Theoretically speaking, it is of course best if the ferromagnetic material is made exclusively from the ferromagnetic crystals mentioned. However, it may be desirable to add sintering agents or binders. Under certain circumstances, undesirable reaction products can also be formed during heating, which are present as impurities in the finished material. Nevertheless, it is clear that the content of substances other than ferromagnetic crystals will be very low in any case.
Compounds that go into the metal oxides when heated, are z. B. the carbonates, oxalates and acetates. In addition, you can heat a mixture, at least partially of at least two metals containing oxide compounds, such as. B. BaFe "04 or BaFe1201s.
In this case, one preferably starts from a mixture which contains a compound of the formula QnFe019, in which formula Qu is at least one of the metals Ba, Sr, Pb or Ca, but consists of at most 40% Ca. This latter compound has a crystal structure which corresponds to that of the mineral magnetoplumbite; it is preferably produced at a temperature below 1100 ° C. because it is then more reactive.
If necessary, the finely divided mixture can first be pre-sintered at a temperature of about 800 to 1100 ° C., the reaction product can be finely ground again and the powder obtained in this way again sintered; this series of treatments can be repeated once or several times, if necessary, with the temperature preferably being raised to a temperature of more than 1200 ° C. at the end. Such a sintering process is known per se, e.g. B.
in the production of the aforementioned ferromagnetic ferrites with spinel structure. In the production of these known compounds, too, it is customary to carry out the pre-sintering at a relatively low temperature (about 800 to 11000 C).
To further facilitate the sintering, you can of course still sintering agents, such. B. silicates or fluorides add.
The magnetic cores containing the above-mentioned ferromagnetic materials can be produced by sintering the mixture of metal oxides directly in the desired form or making the reaction product of the presintering fine and, after adding a binder, if necessary, bringing it into the desired shape and, if necessary, resintering or post-curing becomes.
When sintering at a temperature well above 1200.1 C or when sintering in a less oxygen-rich gas atmosphere, a divalent iron-containing compound can be formed as an impurity, while the magnetic cores produced according to the invention preferably contain no divalent iron. The electrical conductivity that occurs as a result, however, is very low compared to that of ferromagnetic metals.
As already noted, the magnetic cores produced according to the method according to the invention can have initial permeability values of more and often even significantly more than 2, even at frequencies of 50 MHz and frequently significantly higher frequencies. With these cores, the electromagnetic losses (expressed by the loss factor tg 8), especially at frequencies above 50 MHz, are generally lower than the losses in bodies made of the known ferromagnetic ferrites with a spinel structure.
To explain the term tg 8 used above, the following should be noted: In general, an alternating magnetic field of small amplitude will cause an induction running almost sinusoidally in a ferromagnetic body. However, as a result of the electromagnetic losses, there will be a phase difference between the field strength H and the induction B and it is therefore common to
to represent the initial permeability [t = B / H of the ferromagnetic body as a complex quantity.
This can be expressed by the relation @@ = # J- ju ". From this relation it can be seen that induction can be thought of as consisting of two components, one of which is in phase with the applied field while the other is in phase with it lags by 901 #. The variable p 'denotes the real part of the initial permeability; it is specified in the exemplary embodiments. The loss angle θ is given by the relationship tg 8 = u "/ u'.
The designation tg 8 in this case is the loss factor tg 8 of the ferromagnetic materials and is given in the figures belonging to the exemplary embodiments as a function of the frequency. Example 1 A mixture of 62.7 g BaC0 ", 197.5 g Fe., 0 .; and 25.1 g CoCO" is ground with ethyl alcohol in a porcelain ball mill for half an hour. After drying, the oxide mixture is heated in air to a temperature of about 1000 ° C. for 15 hours. The reaction product is ground again for half an hour.
Rings with an outside diameter of about 35 mm, an inside diameter of about 25 mm and a height of about 4 mm are pressed onto it. These rings are sintered in oxygen for one hour at a temperature of 1280 C to form ring-shaped magnetic cores. The magnetic cores produced in this way consist mainly of ferromagnetic crystals that belong to the hexagonal crystal system and consist of unit cells with a c-axis of about 52.3 A and an a-axis of about 5.9 A. The properties of the ge sintered magnetic cores are mentioned in the table under no.

The properties of the magnetic cores are given in the table under no. 2, and the diagram of FIG. 1 of the accompanying drawing also relates to these properties. Example 11 A mixture of 23.0 g BaCO., 72.5 g Fe., 03 and 7.95 g CoC03 is ground with ethyl alcohol in a porcelain ball mill for half an hour. The reaction product is ground again for one hour.
After adding a small amount of an organic binder, rings are pressed from the powder, which are heated in oxygen at 1275 ° C. for 3 hours, then cooled to 12,000 ° C., kept at this temperature for one hour and then to room temperature over the course of 4 hours are further cooled, whereby ringför shaped magnetic cores are obtained. These magnetic cores are predominantly made up of ferromagnetic crystals that belong to the hexagonal crystal system and consist of unit cells with a c-axis of about 52.3 A and an a-axis of about 5.9 A. The properties of these magnetic cores are given in the table under No. 3 and further in FIG.

The dried mixture is pre-sintered at 10500 C for two hours, and the reaction product is ground again for 16 hours. From the getrockne th powder rings with an outer diameter of about 35 mm, an inner diameter of about 25 mm and a height of about 4 mm are pressed, which are sintered for two hours at 12,600 C in oxygen to produce ring-shaped magnetic cores.
An X-ray test shows that the magnetic cores consist entirely of ferromagnetic crystals that belong to the hexagonal crystal system and consist of elementary cells with a c-axis of about 52.3 A and an a-axis of about 5.9 A. .
