Pflanzenwachstums-Regulationsmittel
7-Pentadecylamin, 10-Nonyldecylamin,
12-Tricosylamin, 18-Pentatriacontylamin,
2-Tridecenylamin, 12-Tricosenylamin, 2-Amino-2-Methylnonan, 2-Amino
2-Propyloctadecan, 4-Amino-4-Nonyldocosan, 1-Phenyl-1-Octylamin, 2-Amino-2 (p-Aminophenyl)-decan, 4-Amino-l- (m-chlorophenyl)-pentadecen, l-Chloro-3- aminoheneicosan, 1-(2, 4, 6-Trichlorophenyl) 2-aminoundecan, 1-Amino-1-(ss-naphthyl)- decan, 1-Aceto-3-aminohexadecan und 2- (p-Nitrophenyl)
-3-amino-3-methylnonan.

Plant growth regulators
The invention relates to a plant growth regulator which contains a solution of a 3,6-endoxohydrophthalic acid amine salt in oil.
Salts which contain a 3,6-endoxohydrophthalic acid radical have already been used to regulate plant growth. The maximum utilization of these salts was hindered by two phenomena. First takes the water and! The oil solubility of the hydrocarbon-containing salts decreases when the number of carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon chain increases. Second, aqueous salt solutions are relatively ineffective as plant growth regulators when applied to plants in very arid or very rainy areas. It appears that a solvent must be present in order for the hexahydrophthalic acid salt to get into the plant.
In very dry areas, the water evaporates before effective amounts of the salt can get into the plant, making the salts ineffective. In excessively rainy areas, the salts are washed off the plant and washed out of the top layer of the earth, and this at a rate that makes the application of the salts impossible for economic reasons.
Oil-soluble amine salts and oil-soluble mixtures of amine salts have now been found which contain 3, S-endoxohydrophthalic acid radicals and which have a considerably expanded range of action.
The invention relates to a plant growth regulator, which is characterized in that it contains a solution with an effective concentration of at least one primary amine salt of 3,6-endoxohydrophthalic acid in oil, the amine having an aliphatic part with at least 8 carbon atoms.
Another object of the invention is a process for producing this plant growth regulating agent, which process is characterized in that 3, 6-endoxohydrophthalic anhydride is allowed to react with at least one aliphatic primary amine which has at least 8 carbon atoms in its aliphatic part and that formed salt dissolves in oil.
Exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are explained below.
Certain branched amine salts, which are readily oil-soluble both unmixed and mixed with other amine salts, can be obtained by reacting 3, 6-endoxohydrophthalic acids or anhydrides with primary amines in which the amine group is bonded to a secondary or tertiary carbon atom. These amines, in which a primary amine group is attached to a secondary or tertiary carbon atom, preferably contain about 8 to 18 carbon atoms in at least one of the radicals attached to the aminated carbon atom, and optimally about 8 to 14 carbon atoms. In this exemplary embodiment, aliphatic amines are preferably used in which the primary amine group is bonded to a secondary carbon atom.
It is also possible to use mixtures of oil-soluble amine salts which contain 3,6-endoxohydrophthalic acid radicals. These oil-soluble salt mixtures which contain more than one amine salt can be obtained by reacting 3, 6-endoxohydrophthalic acids or anhydrides with mixtures of at least two normal primary amines with different numbers of carbon atoms. These amines preferably contain about 8 to 22 carbon atoms and optimally about 8 to 14 carbon atoms.
Amines which can be used to prepare the 3, 6-endoxohydrophthalic acid salts according to the first example are, for example: 2-tridecylamine, 2-nonyldecylamine,
7-pentadecylamine, 10-nonyldecylamine,
12-tricosylamine, 18-pentatriacontylamine,
2-tridecenylamine, 12-tricosenylamine, 2-amino-2-methylnonane, 2-amino
2-propyloctadecane, 4-amino-4-nonyldocosane, 1-phenyl-1-octylamine, 2-amino-2 (p-aminophenyl) decane, 4-amino-1- (m-chlorophenyl) pentadecene, 1-chloro -3- aminoheneicosane, 1- (2, 4, 6-trichlorophenyl) 2-aminoundecane, 1-amino-1- (ss-naphthyl) decane, 1-aceto-3-aminohexadecane and 2- (p-nitrophenyl)
-3-amino-3-methylnonane.
To prepare the 3, 6-endoxohydrophthalic acid salt mixtures according to the second example, the following can be used:
1-tridecylamine, 1-nonyldecylamine, 1-pentadecylamine, 1-nonyldecylamine, l-docosylamine, 1-tridecenylamine and I-tricosenylamine, pentadecene, 1-amino-e-chloroheneicosane, 1-amino-2- (ss-naphthyl) decane , 1-amino-4-acetohexadecane and l-amino-3-methylnonane.
All 3, 6-endoxohydrophthalic acids and their anhydrides can be used to prepare the amine salts. So z. B. di-, tetra- and hexahydrophthalic acids and their monovalent analogs linked to radicals can be used for the preparation of oil-soluble amine salts. Radials that can take the place of hydrogen in the hydrophthalic molecule are z. B. halogens, alkyl radicals, alkoxy radicals, aryloxy, acyloxyalkyl and nitro radicals. The use of unsubstituted hydrophthalic acids and especially hexahydrophthalic acid and its anhydride in the preparation of the amine salts is preferred.
Good yields of oil-soluble amine salts are achieved by contacting a desired amine with an equivalent amount of a desired 3,6-endoxohydrophthalic acid or anhydride at a temperature of about 50 to 80.degree.
However, it is also possible to work at lower or higher temperatures, and the reaction conditions are in no way critical.
Both toxic and non-toxic oils can be used to kill herbs. These oils can be made from petroleum or from animal or vegetable oils. Such oils are e.g. B. tall oils, pure petrol, light and heavy lubricating oils and benzene. If the solution is to be used for defoliation, it is preferable to use a non-toxic oil which is relatively harmless to the plant. It is also preferable to use relatively low volatile oils, especially petroleum fractions, in order to make maximum use of the growth regulating amine salts.
The oil solutions can be applied to the plants by spraying or brushing, and the plants can even be dipped in the solution. Spraying is preferable when large areas are to be treated.
The amount of the 3, 6-endoxohydrophthalic acid amine salt or salt mixture in a solution for treating a particular plant depends on the type of plant and the desired result.
For example, good defoliation of young bean plants is achieved if the plants are sprayed with a 0.1% saline solution; in young holly, defoliation is achieved by spraying with a 1% solution. On the other hand, an oil solution with 25% or more of the desired amine salt or salt mixture is necessary to kill trees if the solution is introduced through drill holes in the roots or in the trunk.
Example 1
To prepare the 10-aminononyl decane salt of 3,6-endoxohydrophthalic acid, 28.3 grams of 10-aminononyl decane was added to 9.6 grams of finely ground 96% 3,6-endoxohydrophthalic acid.
The mixture was heated to about 70-75 ° C in a steam bath; the mixture was stirred until a homogeneous reaction mixture was formed. The resulting, colorless, liquid salt had a neutralization equivalent of 398 (theoretical: 376) and was 94.4% pure. It was dissolved in 61 to prepare a plant growth regulator.

Example 5
A solution suitable for killing most trees can be made by dissolving 25 parts by weight of the 12-tricosylamine salt of 3,6-indoxotetrahydrophthalic acid in 75 parts of corn oil.
Example 6
To prepare 3,6-endoxohexahydrophthalic acid salt of coconut amines, about 0.1 mole combined weight (21 grams) of a mixture of amines from coconut fatty acids is melted at about 46 ° C. and stirred into 400 ml of isopropanol.
This mixture is then added to 10.25 grams (0.05 moles) of a 90.8% 3,6-endoxohexahydrophthalic acid. The mixture is heated in a steam bath until complete dissolution occurs, then cooled to room temperature. The mixed amine salts of 3,6-endoxohexahydrophthalic acid are then filtered out and dissolved in b1 to produce a plant growth regulator.
