Description

Method for avoiding the formation of eddies at the boundary layer of bodies in a flow. The invention relates to a method for avoiding the formation of eddies which impair the efficiency of turbomachines in the boundary layer area of bodies in a flow, in particular on blades of blowers.

It is known to arrange nozzles, gaps or the like on bodies around which flow is flowing, which are intended to blow away the boundary layer on the body and thus the eddies forming in the boundary layer area or to avoid suctioning off the boundary layer. In most cases, these measures have the disadvantage that the flow resistance of the body around the body is increased. They are also useful for small bodies such as B. blades on fan runners, not or only. conditionally applicable.

The present invention avoids this disadvantage in that the speed between the body and the medium flowing around is changed in direction and / or size before the formation of eddies in the boundary layer area or before their separation.

Due to this change in flow direction or size, the vortex formation that begins in the boundary layer area cannot develop until the vortex is detached, but rather before the energy-consuming vortex is fully developed or before the form drag increases uneconomically, the flow is reversed or their size or direction changed so much that the resulting boundary layer is disturbed or destroyed.

After a set of the new flow begins the new development of a boundary layer vortex, but in turn before their finished development and thus harmful training by renewed change, z. B. the direction of flow is prevented.

Before the development of a boundary layer, the influence of the form resistance of bodies in a flow is insignificant, so that their calculation can largely be carried out according to the potential theory.

For the same reason, blades can e.g. B. are roughly manufactured for blowers, which results in a significant economic advantage.

To change the incident flow direction on a body in flow z. B. a blade provided with blades run past different direction ended nozzles, so that the blades are successively exposed to alternately differently directed currents, whereby each time the boundary layer formed within one flow direction is removed with their vortex formation.

Interruption of the boundary layer and vortex formation can also be achieved by moving the blades rotating with a rotor alternately through flow-through and flow-free zones. The flow created at the blade is always of the same size and direction, but interrupted at certain intervals, which in turn breaks the boundary layer formation and has to start again when the blade enters a new flow zone.

To achieve one after the other in the opposite direction, z. B. on a rotor blade on impacting flow, an axial fan can be designed with blades arranged radially on the rotor so that the flow is passed through the blade ring, is deflected behind it and then comes back through the blade ring. It is possible here to design the blades in the fan rotor to be pivotable about their longitudinal axis and to adjust their angle of attack in accordance with the direction of flow passing through.

A kinematic transmission known per se can be used to control the blade pivoting. In this pivotable design of the blades, it is also possible that the flow is set in the respective corresponding position.

A particular advantage of the method according to the invention is that flowed around profiles, such. B. fan blades, in the period before the closed boundary layer and vortex formation are largely insensitive to angular changes in the impinging flow direction, so that machines working according to the method according to the invention work in wide speed or flow speed limits with good efficiency.

The passage of blades through currents in different directions is possible, please include due to this fact with good efficiency, since practically only the wall friction influence is present, but not the significantly larger shape resistance influence. In the drawing, embodiments are shown to explain the invention.

1 shows a longitudinal section through an axial fan operating according to the method according to the invention, FIG. 2 shows the same fan in a front view, FIG. 3 shows an axial fan as a further exemplary embodiment, FIG. 4 shows the same fan in a longitudinal section, and FIG FIG. 5 shows a partial section in plane IV of FIG. 4.

In detail, Fig. 1 shows an axial fan in which the impeller 1 runs in a manner known per se in a housing 2 and, in the example shown, has four blades. In the flow direction in front of the paddle wheel 1, a body 3 is arranged, which covers at least one wing of the blade wheel 1.

It is thereby achieved that the blades of the impeller 1 run through an area through which there is no flow during each rotation, so that the boundary layer, which is meanwhile being developed, is broken down. In the case of the fan designed according to the invention on the blades of the paddle wheel 1, no boundary layer can form with the boundary layer vortices associated therewith.

The axial fan shown in Fig. 3 has a rotating fan 5 in a housing 4, on which radial conveyor blades 6 are angeord net. The conveying cross section of the blower shown is covered to a small extent by cover parts 7 and 8, of which the cover part 7 is arranged in the flow direction in front of the blade ring and the cover part 8 is arranged behind it.

The cover part 7 located in front of the blade ring has lateral recesses 9 in the vicinity of the fan rotor 5, while the rear cover part 8 has an opening 14 near the axis and ends radially in front of the housing 4.

This arrangement ensures that a radially running flow is established between the conveyor blades in the area of the cover parts, which on the one hand runs from the front through the openings 9 in the cover part 7 radially outwards and on the other hand through the opening 14 of the cover part 8 also radially outwards . As a result of this radial flow in the area of the cover parts 7 and 8, the boundary layer being built up on the rotating blades 6 is blown off and removed.

The efficiency of the blades is increased to such an extent that the narrowing of the flow cross-section by the arrangement of the cover bodies 3 or 7 and 8 is more than eliminated. In addition, the blades are largely insensitive to changes in the direction of flow, ie. H. that the fans work over a wide speed range with very good efficiency. The shaping of the blades also does not need to be carried out with the otherwise usual high precision.

The method can be used particularly advantageously with fans with a large number of relatively small blades, since the area to be covered is relatively small and, on the other hand, the large number of blades only needs to be very rough, since the otherwise disruptive influence of vortex separation from the boundary layer not applicable.
