Description

Process for connecting at least two ends of multifilament threads
It is known to connect thread ends to one another by knotting them together. Although node interconnection is generally satisfactory, it also has disadvantages. First, the tensile strength of a thread with a knot in it is lower than that of a knot-free thread. Second, when processing threads with knots in textile machines, the continuity of the process can be disturbed because the knots e.g. B. be held in knot catchers or because the threads get stuck with the knot when pulling off the thread package. When crimping thick threads with the help of a crimping chamber, into which the thread is introduced by two rollers, the knot can hinder the passage of the thread through the rollers.

A method for connecting the threads has now been found which does not have these disadvantages.

The method according to the invention for connecting at least two ends of multifilament threads is characterized in that at least two thread ends are placed parallel to each other and that against the thread bundle thus obtained, which is clamped in at least two places, between the clamping points in a known manner at least one Gas jet is directed while it is in a cocked state.

In a manner known per se, the blowing of the gas jet against the thread bundle causes the filaments to tangle (entangle), which consequently adhere to one another. This process is referred to below as Entanglement>. As is also known, the thread to be entangled may or may not be in a closed space.

The thread bundle can be passed through the gas jet, in which case it will be entangled over its entire length. In most cases, however, this is not necessary in order to achieve sufficient cohesion. In fact, an equally firm connection can also be achieved by allowing the gas jet to act on the thread bundle at several points one after the other, which method is referred to below as point entanglement.

This point entanglement can also be carried out in a single work step if several gas jets are directed against the thread bundle at the same time. The strength of the connection is equal to or greater than that of the threads themselves if the number of entanglement points is sufficiently large.

When the entanglement or point entanglement is complete, it is advisable to cut off the free ends of the thread that are pinched during the process.

At least two thread ends can be connected by the method according to the invention.

The thread ends can be the ends of one or more threads. The threads to be connected can be twisted or untwisted. In the present case, twisted means that the threads do not have a twist that is higher than 40 turns per meter. If the threads have a higher twist, the filaments are not sufficiently dissolved by the gas jet and therefore cannot be felted or entangled with one another at all.

By means of the method according to the invention it is possible to join both threads with low denier and those with high denier. The clamping of the thread bundle and maintaining the tension during the connection can be done by hand.

Although the gas jet can be directed against the thread bundle at any angle during the entangling process, it is recommended to aim the gas jet perpendicularly against the thread for the best entangling effect.

The tension of the thread during the entangling process can vary within wide limits. The best results are obtained using a thread tension of 0.05 to 0.3 grams per denier.

All types of gases can be used for the blow jet, such as B. carbon dioxide, nitrogen, saturated or unsaturated water vapor, etc. For economic reasons, the use of air is preferred.

The multifilament threads to be connected can, for. B. from regenerated cellulose, cellulose acetate, polyamides, polyesters, polyalkylenes, polyacrylonitriles, etc. consist. If threads made of regenerated cellulose are to be connected, it is advisable to use them before entangling e.g. B. moisten with water.

The connection of the thread ends according to the method according to the invention, which is explained below for example, can be carried out with the aid of a device which is suitable for entangling the thread filaments.

1 shows a part of such an entangling device schematically in section, while FIG. 2 is an azonomic representation of an exemplary embodiment of the overall arrangement.

During operation, a gas, e.g. B. air, blown under pressure through the bore 31 of the nozzle 26 into a resonance chamber 27, the inlet opening 32 of the nozzle bore 31 is exactly opposite. Two thread guides 28 are arranged in such a way that a thread bundle which is under tension and which is inserted into the thread guide crosses the center line of the nozzle mouth. The ends 29 and 30 of two multifilament threads, which are parallel to one another, are fastened in the clamps 33.

As a result of the gas being blown against the two threads, the filaments become entangled with one another, creating a joint. If the double filament is moved along the gas jet emerging from the nozzle, a longer connection is obtained.

The method according to the invention is particularly suitable for joining composite yarns which are produced by twisting together two or more continuous filament threads of different colors. According to the invention, they can be connected to one another in such a way that the connection points are invisible.

As can be seen in FIG. 2, sleeves 4 and 5 are placed on spindles 2 and 3 of the device 1 and carry the yarn packages 6 and 7. The yarns 8 and 8 'of these yarn packages are identical and have been produced by twisting together three threads of different colors (e.g. red, green and white) and crimping the mouline yarn obtained in this way.

The spindle 3 is mounted on a platform 9 which can be rotated by hand about an axis which is perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the spindle 3 and to which a yarn clamp 10 is attached. The device 1 also comprises a pivotable twine clamp 11 which is held in a vertical position by a sleeve 12. When this tube is moved upwards, the twine clamp 11 is pivoted under the influence of the weight 13.

The device further comprises an upright wall 14 on which three supports 15, 16 and 17 are attached to which a detachable entangling device is attachable.

The connection of the thread ends of the yarns 8 and 8 'is carried out as follows: A short piece of yarn 8 is unwound from the yarn package 6 and clamped in the clamp 11 at a certain distance from its end. The twine is removed from this piece of yarn by hand so that three separate threads 18, 19 and 20 are obtained (e.g. red, green and white). In the same way, the yarn 8 'is unwound, clamped in the clamp 10 and twisted on by hand so that three separate threads 21, 22, 23 (which are also red, green and white) are obtained.

A tangling device is then attached to the support 15 and both the thread 19 and the thread 22 are inserted. At the ends of these threads weights 25 are clamped, which keep the threads under tension.

With the help of the entangling device, the thread ends 19 and 23 are entangled with one another.

After removing the weights 25, the interconnected threads are placed in a spring-loaded hook and the loose thread ends are cut off.

The process described above is repeated with the red thread 18, 21 and the white thread 20, 23, so that three connections are obtained by entanglement.

Then the sleeve 12 is pushed upwards, whereby the interconnected threads are tensioned. This tension is preferably equal to the tension of the threads when twisting into the mouline yarn 8, 8 '. The threads are removed from the hook 24 and, by rotating the platform 9, intertwined with one another in such a way that the connection point has the same number of turns per cm as the original mouline yarn.

By successively attaching the entangling device to the supports 15, 16 and 17, the advantage can be achieved that the connection points become invisible under all circumstances.

Conversely, these may be visible if the entangler is not moved.

By shifting the connection points in the individual threads it is achieved that the tensile strength of the yarn is generally higher than if the connection points are at the same point.

If the mouline yarn has a small amount of twist, it is generally not necessary to twist the connected ends together again, especially if the distance between the thread clamps 10 and 11 is chosen to be small.

Even if the mouliné yarn has a high degree of twist, it is not always necessary to twist the connected threads together. In this case, the twisting of the mouline yarn should be carried out by hand in such a way that the individual threads are pulled apart, as a result of which the thread in the yarn shifts in the direction of the yarn package. After the connections are made in the manner described above, the connected threads are automatically twisted together.
