Description

Manufacturing process of a dental prosthesis
Currently known methods of manufacturing dental prostheses consist in casting, in a mold, molten metal such as gold, stainless steel or even any other alloy deemed to be suitable for such an application.

Before casting, the mold comprises the shape of the desired piece of wax previously formed on a plaster model obtained from the impression taken in the mouth. This wax is coated by the mold and melts on contact with the arrival of the molten metal which thus takes the place of the volatilized wax. This classic process is also known under the name of lost wax casting.

Other methods consist in forming the desired piece of prosthesis with a synthetic material placed on an impression and which, after polymerization, produces the base of the prosthesis on which artificial teeth will be fixed.

However, these methods have drawbacks because these various stages of successive impression taking modify the absolute fidelity of the original oral impression and therefore it may happen that the prosthesis thus obtained no longer offers sufficient retention power when is placed in the mouth.

On the other hand, all these methods require great care on the part of the operator and their application is long and expensive.

The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks by a method of manufacturing a dental prosthesis, characterized in that it is formed directly on the material obtained from the original oral impression, by a deposit of non-polymerizable material. , means being arranged to perform such a deposit.

It is possible to use for the deposition of the non-polymerizable material, for example conventional metallization guns which allow the projection of practically molten metal of any kind. However, it has been observed that the structure of the deposited metal remains particulate, granular or crystalline and that the deposited particles have a relatively low homogeneity power compared with that obtained with a molten metal.

In order to overcome this drawback, the plaster serving as a receiving surface can be very advantageously replaced by an appropriate refractory material heated beforehand to a temperature such that the molten metal projected by the gun does not crystallize instantaneously but remains at the temperature. still contrary to the state of fusion when it comes into contact with the surface of the refractory mold thus preheated.

The quality of the metal thus obtained is clearly superior from the point of view of homogeneity than that resulting from e projection on a cold mold.

A variant for the application of the material in fusion consists in using as an annex a torch, the flame of which is directed in a predetermined manner on the jet of molten material leaving the gun, Ide so as to avoid too sudden cooling of said jet , so that the latter still arrives in the molten state and not in the form of partial solidification in contact with the surface of the mold.

Another variant for the application of the material to the mold consists in using a plasma gun.

Another variant for applying the material to the mold consists in placing the latter under a vacuum chamber, the material being deposited in this case by evaporation and condensation on the mold.

It is also possible, in certain particular cases, to use other types of guns specially designed for projecting molten ceramic, starting from this material in powder form.

These various methods for bringing the material directly onto the plaster or any other material resulting from the oral impression, furthermore make it possible to lay prevalently on the mold, at predetermined locations, retention rods, hooks, pivots, etc. ., which will form a compact block with the base obtained by means of these processes.

In addition, by depositing an insulating material on the mold in certain places, it becomes possible to obtain so-called skeletal prosthesis parts.

The cost price as well as the execution time of the prostheses obtained by one or the other of these methods is also considerably reduced.

Fig. 1 shows, by way of example, the method of producing a dental prosthesis by means of a conventional metallization gun, while FIG. 2 shows, also by way of example, the method of producing a dental prosthesis by means of a conventional metallization gun, with prolonged heating of the jet of molten metal, by means of an additional torch.

With reference to FIG. 1, the gun 1 is supplied with compressed air, fuel (lighting gas, acetylene or propane) and oxygen, respectively through hoses 2-3 and 4. After turning on the gun and setting it to the flow position, the chosen metal, which is in the form of a wire torch 5, automatically advances into the gun 1 which melts it and projects it under molten pressure 6 onto the mold 7 comprising the mouth impression.

The gun 1, being held manually, makes it possible to form the prosthesis part very quickly by proceeding in a manner identical to that adopted with a conventional paint gun.

With reference to FIG. 2, the arrangement is identical to that shown in FIG. 1, but the jet of molten metal 6 is subjected to the action of the flame 11 of a torch 8, preferably oxy-acetylene, supplied with oxygen and acetylene or any other combustible gas, respectively through pipes 9 and 10.

The flame 11 of the torch 8 thus contributes to maintaining the jet 6 of molten metal at its ideal temperature until its impact on the receiving surface of the mold 7 and thus prevents the metal deposit obtained on said mold 7 providing a missing granulated structure. of homogeneity. By adopting such a method, the prosthesis offers a structure substantially equivalent to that of a casting. In such a case, the role of the gun 1 is limited to the material supply in the form of pre-fusion, while the torch 8 transforms this pre-fusion into complete fusion during the path gun 1 - mold 7.

It goes without saying that in the two cases shown by way of example in FIGS. 1 and 2, the execution of the mold 7 in refractory material preheated to a temperature close to that of the melting of the metal used, is undoubtedly higher than that of a plaster mold kept in the cold state.

On the other hand, in the example cited by the vacuum evaporation process, the mold remains cold for the formation of metal condensation.
