Description

Coating, in particular for the marking of roads, and method of manufacturing such a coating Hitherto, coatings for the marking of roads, such as continuous or broken lines separating lanes or curbs, as well as pedestrian crossings , consist of a paint of conventional type, for example based on oil or synthetic material, or even a molten metal. The paint is sprayed onto the ground by means of spray guns and, after drying, adheres to the road surface itself.

Such paints have the drawback of wearing out quickly, either because of mechanical friction resulting from road traffic, or as a result of severe climatic conditions. subjecting the coating to repeated stresses, or even by degradation of the paint itself under the effect of thermal or chemical reactions. Thus, it is frequently necessary to carry out new markings and, as the entire road network cannot be maintained simultaneously, risks of accident arise following the premature disappearance of the markings.

Research has consequently been carried out to remedy this state of affairs which has always been accepted and which constitutes a prejudice of the possibilities of increasing the resistance of coatings for road markings, for which only an improvement in the qualities of the paint itself had. so far been attempted.

The present patent specifically relates to a coating, in particular for marking roads, charac terized by a layer of paint in which solid foreign bodies are incorporated.

The patent also relates to a process for manufacturing such a coating, characterized by the fact that the paint is mixed with the paint, before it hardens, of solid foreign bodies.

The coating can consist of any paint, either oil-based, or synthetic resin-based, or based on molten metal, or the like. In this coating are incorporated solid foreign bodies. These bodies can be constituted by a vegetable, mineral or synthetic powder, forming a homogeneous mixture with the paint. They can be in the form of flakes of crystals, fibers, sheets, fabrics or others, distributed throughout the thickness of the painting, or in horizontal layers, or in other geometric or asymmetrical arrangements.

Plant bodies are for example formed by wood, algae, cotton, linen or others, reduced to powder, particles or forming tissues.

Mineral bodies can for example be constituted by sand or other crystals, certain earths, metals, in the form of powder, granules, plates, bars, etc. These synthetic bodies belong to all classes of polymerized or unknown synthetic material and can be used in the form of powder, balls, crystals, sheets, threads, fabrics, profiles, etc.

Depending on the form taken by these solid bodies, they can be mixed with the paint before it is projected on the ground. If the solids are small, they can form a homogeneous mixture with the paint before it passes through the spray nozzle of the udder.

When the solid bodies are larger in size or risk obstructing the gun supply ducts or wearing them out prematurely, they are then incorporated into the paint being sprayed, for example between the spray nozzle and the floor , or to the coating applied to the floor, before it solidifies.

It is also possible to provide for distributing the solid bodies on the ground before the spraying of paint and possibly to incorporate other solid bodies in the non-solidified coating covering the bodies previously placed.

Such coatings have the great advantage of behaving in a particular manner depending on the composition of the mixture of paint and solid bodies, in particular of making it possible to save a part of the paint normally necessary for a coating by the incorporation of bodies. inexpensive solids, increase the resistance of coatings to the stresses of road traffic, climatic changes, and other common causes of degradation.
