Fig. 3 einen Schnitt nach der Linie III-III der Fig. 1;
Fig. 4 einen Schnitt nach der Linie IV-IV der Fig. 2;
Fig. 5 einen Schnitt nach der Linie V-V der Fig. 4 ;
Fig. 6 eine Variante der in Fig. 4 im Grundriss dargestellten Teile;
Device for washing out the mother liquor from solids
In many chemical processes, chemical products are obtained in solid form from solvents, for example through crystallization or precipitation. The solid must then in some way e.g. separated from the mother liquor by filtration, centrifugation or the like. However, it is not possible to achieve complete separation in this way; on the contrary, a certain amount of mother liquor with the impurities contained in it still adheres to the solid, so that further washing is necessary in order to obtain the solid in pure form. This has the disadvantage that a certain amount of the solid goes back into solution during washing and is thus lost.
When washing out the solid in filters or centrifuges, the required amount of washing water is relatively large, and consequently also the amount of solid that goes into solution and is lost as a result. In addition, a continuous implementation of this process requires considerable expenditure on equipment.
During centrifugation or filtration, the solid is separated from the liquid (solvent). Such a separation is always superfluous if the solid is to be processed further with the same liquid, such as table salt in mercury electrolysis. In this case, it is only necessary to remove the impurities contained in the mother liquor. For this reason, it has already been proposed to wash out the solid in a column.
In this column, the scrubbing liquid is passed from the bottom to the top, while the solid is added at the top and, as a result of gravity, sinks through the scrubbing liquid and is discharged from the column there. In addition to large column dimensions, a significant amount of washing liquid is required in this process.
It has also already been proposed to displace the mother liquor with washing liquid in that the washing liquid is pressed through the solid, which is in a more or less compact form. As a result of the compact form of the solid, the dimensions of the apparatus are significantly smaller than in the previously described process. In the most favorable case, the required amount of washing liquid is not, or only slightly, greater than the amount of mother liquor to be displaced.
A prerequisite for proper displacement of the mother liquor by this process is that the solid is not swirled up by the washing liquid.
Furthermore, the washing liquid must penetrate the solid in an absolutely uniform manner, i.e. there must be no channel formation. In practice, especially in the case of large units, these conditions present considerable difficulties which it has not previously been possible to overcome. The aim of the present invention is as simple as possible a solution to the present problems.
The invention relates to a device for the continuous washing of mother liquor from solids by means of a washing liquid with a relatively high washing vessel, into which the mother liquor containing solids can be introduced at the top and the washing liquid in the lower part, and which vessel in the lower part has at least one discharge line for solids and Has washing liquid and at the top at least one discharge line for mother liquor and washing liquid, with a settling surface for solids being arranged in the lower part of the washing vessel, which area extends at least over the largest part of the vessel cross-section.
In a previously known device of this type, the supply line for the washing liquid is formed by a distributor which is arranged at a distance above the settling surface and has jet openings directed upwards and horizontally. It has been shown that, in particular, the upwardly directed jets cause channeling in the solid, which adversely affects the washing effect.
According to the invention, this disadvantage is eliminated in that the opening of the feed line for washing liquid is arranged near the settling surface and is directed towards it, so that the settling surface can be washed over by washing liquid.
It has been shown that with the arrangement according to the invention, the solid particles deposited on the settling surface form a homogeneous column moving slowly downwards. Part of the washing liquid that rinses over the sedimentation area rises through the solid particles and displaces the mother liquor. The larger part washes the solid layer on the sedimentation surface to the outflow opening. Even in large vessels, there is no channel formation whatsoever.
This is likely to be due to this. that the rising part of the washing liquid flows evenly from the entire settling area and the solid particle column effects an additional comparative smoothing of the flow and that the washing away of the lower column layer in each case causes a uniform lowering of the solid particles over the column cross section.
In the following, embodiments of the device according to the invention are explained in more detail with reference to the drawings; show it:
1 and 2 two different embodiments of the device according to the invention, each in an axial section:
3 shows a section along the line III-III of FIG. 1;
FIG. 4 shows a section along the line IV-IV of FIG. 2;
Fig. 5 is a section along the line V-V of Fig. 4;
6 shows a variant of the parts shown in plan in FIG. 4;
7 shows a third embodiment of the device mentioned, likewise in axial section.
In Figures 1, 2 and 7, the preferably circular cylindrical washing vessel is shown as a whole with 1, its upper filling opening with 2, the supply line for the washing liquid with 3, the upper discharge line for mother liquor and part of the washing liquid with 4, the lower discharge line for solids and the remaining washing liquid is denoted by 5 and the sedimentation area for the solid is denoted by 6. According to the illustration, the filling opening 2 is formed in that the vessel is widened conically at the top. The upper discharge line 4 is designed as an overflow.
As shown. A suction pump 33 can be arranged in the line 5.
According to the embodiments shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the settling surface 6 is formed by the upper surface of a horizontally arranged flat plate 7. The feed line 3 of the washing liquid ends on the vessel side in a shower type distributor 8 formed by tubes 11, which is arranged just above the plate 7 and parallel to this, with its jet openings are directed towards the plate.
In the arrangement according to FIGS. 1 and 3, the plate 7 is designed as a solid plate. A gap 9 is left free between the edge of the plate and the wall 1a of the washing vessel 1, the width of which is preferably at least 20 times the largest dimension of the largest solid crystal bodies.
In the arrangement shown in FIGS. 2, 4 and 5, the plate 7 is designed as a perforated plate.
Here, the holes 10 of the plate 7 and the jet openings 12 (Fig. 1, 5) of the distributor 8 are arranged offset from one another in the horizontal direction. The jet openings 12 are identified in FIG. 2 by the flow arrows 12p and in FIGS. 2 and 3 by the points 1 2m. Instead of the combination of perforated plate and distributor shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, a distributor and a perforated plate according to FIG. 6 can also be installed in the arrangement according to FIG. 2.
The cross-section of each individual hole 10 of the plate 7 is preferably selected so that it is at least 20 times as large as the largest cross-section of the largest solid crystal grains. In the case of circular holes 10, their diameter should preferably be at least 20 times the largest dimension of the largest solid crystal grain. When using perforated plates, there is no need for a gap between the edge of the plate and the vessel wall. However, as indicated in FIG. 6, recesses lüa can be provided on the edge of the plate 7.
The tubes 11 of the distributor 8 can be star-shaped, as can be seen in FIG. 3, or, as FIGS. 4 and 6 show. be arranged running parallel to each other.
The variants according to FIGS. 4 to 6 are preferably designed such that the jet openings 12 (1 2m, 1 2p) of the distributor 8 and preferably also the holes 10 of the plate 7 are evenly distributed over the cross section of the washing vessel 1. This embodiment is therefore particularly suitable for larger units. i.e. for washing vessels with a diameter greater than approx. 120 cm.
In all of the embodiments shown here, the washing liquid is directed from above onto the settling surface and overflows it, with the solid directly deposited on the settling surface being carried along and through the gap 9 between the vessel wall la and the edge of the support surface or through holes 10 in the support surface reaches the lower part of the washing vessel and can be removed from there through at least one discharge line 5.
As can be seen from FIGS. 1, 2 and 7, the walls of the part of the washing vessel 2 (collecting space 35) lying below the settling surface 6 converge downwards to form a funnel, with a discharge line 5 for solids and washing liquid going off from the bottom of this funnel.
The embodiment of the inven tion shown in Fig. 7 is particularly suitable for the processing of solids and mother liquor, the crusts or
Contain lumps. The settling surface 6 is conical, so that crusts that fall out slide off and pass through the annular passage opening 9 into the collecting space 35. There they sink to the lowest point and can be removed via a valve 37 and removed from the process. The removal point 38 for the solid is funnel-shaped and provided with a sieve 39 so that no crusts get into the removal line 5 and the pump 33 .
According to a further variant of the device mentioned, the washing vessel forms the lower part of an evaporator, it being possible for a chicane to be arranged between the evaporator and washing vessel, which serves to calm the flow.
The device according to the invention is generally designed in such a way that the greater part of the washing liquid supplied as a whole rinses over the settling surface 6 and is carried away with the solids or transports it. The remaining scrubbing liquid displaces the mother liquor upwards - in countercurrent to the solids - and flows off with it via the overflow.
The washing liquid preferably consists of a saturated solution of the pure solid.
The jet openings 12 of the distributors 8 for the washing liquid generally have a diameter of about 0.5 to 2 mm, the diameter of the washing vessels being in the order of magnitude of 200 to 2000 mm. In the figures, the openings 12 and 16 are shown exaggerated for reasons of drawing.
The device according to the invention is particularly suitable for cleaning sodium chloride in the preparation of brine.
