Description

(Additional patent to main patent 403 815) Dosing device for ice cream or the like The invention relates to a dosing device for ice cream or the like, in which an approximately vertical cylinder provided with at least one side inlet opening and at least one lower outlet opening is a necessarily movable up and down as a closing element designed for the lateral inlet opening and in its upper end position this inlet opening releasing ejector piston with an axial bore ent holds, and in the cylinder below the ejector piston a coaxial opposing piston is arranged,

which is attached to a piston rod that is guided displaceably in the axial bore of the ejector piston and can be carried along by the latter by means of a friction lock, the upward movement of the opposing piston forming a measuring chamber between it and the further raised ejector piston by a fixed stop and the downward movement of the opposing piston in With respect to the ejection piston are limited by an adjustable stop to change the end volume of the measuring chamber, and a passage is also provided that connects the measuring chamber in the lower end position of the opposing piston with the outlet opening of the cylinder.

With mechanical actuation of the ejector piston, this metering device is particularly suitable for automatic ice cream vending machines for tapping constant and precisely defined ice cream portions.

With the ejector piston lifted over the side ice cream inlet opening of the cylinder and with the counter piston carried by it by friction and raised to the fixed stop, the measuring chamber formed between these two pistons and located in the area of the side inlet opening of the cylinder is filled with ice cream .

Under the pressure of the feed mass entering the measuring chamber, the opposing piston moves downwards in relation to the initially stationary ejection piston until it is stopped by the adjustable stop provided between the piston rod of the opposing piston and the ejection piston. Both pistons are then simultaneously lowered, together with the ice cream portion enclosed between them, until the opposing piston reaches its lower, e.g. has reached a certain end position by stopping against the cylinder base and is stopped again.

Then only the ejector piston moves downwards, which ejects the food portion via the passage between the measuring chamber and the lower outlet opening of the cylinder through this outlet opening. By adjusting the stop that limits the downward stroke of the opposing piston in relation to the ejector piston, the end volume of the measuring chamber formed between these two pistons and consequently also the amount of ice cream tapped with every up and down movement of the ejector piston, while maintaining an amount of ice cream corresponding to this end volume of the measuring chamber, can be adjusted and the same ejection piston stroke can be modified within fairly wide limits.

According to the main patent, the downstroke of the opposing piston is adjustable in the axial direction with respect to the ejector piston limit stop. In particular, the piston rod of the counter-piston, which engages displaceably in an axial chamber of the ejection piston, has a flange acting as a stop between this piston rod and the lower end wall of the ejection piston chamber.

To modify the downward stroke of the opposing piston in relation to the ejector piston, the upper end part of the piston rod of the opposing piston, which is provided with the flange, is designed to be exchangeable, or exchangeable spacer disks are arranged on the piston rod between its flange and the lower end wall of the ejector piston chamber . With this training, the upper portion must be used to change the tapped ice cream portion. The end part of the piston rod of the opposing piston is built out and replaced by another end part with a differently designed and / or arranged flange, or

be reinstalled after replacing the spacers or changing the number of them. This work, which is associated with a corresponding expenditure of time and effort, requires at least partial removal of the piston set from the cylinder of the metering device and can only be carried out by trained specialists, i.e. generally not be carried out by the operator of the ice cream machine equipped with the metering device.

In addition, the dosing device must be equipped with several small accessories (spacers, end parts of the piston rod of the opposing piston), which are stored separately and are easily lost, for setting the various large ice cream portions.

The object of the invention is to eliminate these disadvantages of the metering device forming the subject of the main patent and to create a metering device of the type described at the outset, in which the tapped ice cream portion can be drawn off quickly and easily with less constructive effort and with the elimination of replaceable detachable parts can be modified and adjusted by technically untrained operators.

The invention consists in that the stop for limiting the downward movement of the opposing piston with respect to the ejection piston consists of a stepped stop body connected to the upper piston rod end of the opposing piston or forming a piece with it, which is at least two radially outwardly pointing, angularly offset from one another and has stop surfaces arranged at different heights, which interact with a lower-lying counter-stop arranged on the ejector piston and can be alternately adjusted via the counter-stop by rotating the stop body in relation to the ejector piston.

With this design, the downward stroke of the opposing piston in relation to the ejector piston and consequently also the end volume of the measuring chamber formed between the ejector piston and the opposing piston depends on the height of the counter-stop on the ejector piston. This counter-stop set stop surface of the graduated th, connected to the piston rod of the counter-piston NEN stop body.

The tapped ice cream portion can therefore be changed simply by rotating the stepped stop body relative to the ejection piston and setting another, higher or lower-lying stop surface of the stop body over the counter-stop arranged on the ejection piston. The rotation of the stop body can easily be achieved through the upper, open, e.g. be made by a removable cover closed end of the axial bore of the ejection piston.

The setting of the rotatable, stepped stop body or the ice cream portion to be tapped can consequently be carried out without difficulty by technically untrained operators of the ice cream machine equipped with the metering device. Since it is not necessary to replace individual parts of the metering device. In particular, the rotatable, stepped stop body can be connected to the piston rod of the opposing piston in a non-detachable and captive manner.

The setting of the desired ice cream portion can be made easier according to a preferred embodiment of the invention by the fact that the upper, visible through the axial bore of the ejector piston head surface of the stepped stop body has a graduation corresponding to the various stop surfaces of this stop body, which is associated with the counter stop, on the ejection piston provided marking cooperates.

The connected to the upper end of the piston rod of the counter-piston, rotatable, steppedschlagkör by or attached to the ejector piston, each with a stop surface of the stop body cooperating counter-stop can be designed as desired.

According to an advantageous, particularly simple embodiment, the stepped stop body can be designed as a bolt coaxial with the piston rod of the opposing piston, which has at least two outer, longitudinally directed, angularly offset grooves or flats that end at different distances from the upper head end of the bolt, while the counter-stop can consist of a transversely directed, carried out from sen through the jacket of the ejector piston and protruding into the axial bore of this piston, stop pin that engages or engages in a groove of the bolt.

on the head side against a respective flattening of the bolt, the rotation of the bolt preventing working position, as well as an outwardly retracted, the rotation of the bolt permitting release position can take.

This design has the advantage that the stepped stop body formed by the grooved or flattened bolt is supported by the cooperating, i.e. In each case a groove of the bolt is einrei fenden or head side against a flattening of the same abutting stop pin non-rotatable in the ejection piston and consequently its set angular position remains unchanged.

To rotate the stop body in a new angle position corresponding to a different ice cream portion, the ejector piston is pulled up out of the cylinder until the stop pin comes to rest over the upper cylinder edge and is at least partially adjusted radially outward to release the stop body can be.

Further details of the invention will become apparent from the following description of an embodiment of the invention shown schematically in the drawing.

1 to 6 show a metering device according to the invention, in vertical section and in different working positions.

7 is a plan view of the metering device according to FIGS. 1 to 6.

FIG. 8 is a cross section of the metering device along the line VIII-VIII in FIG. 1.

The metering device shown is intended for the dispensing of ice cream in a metered manner and is used in particular in automatic ice cream sales machines with a coin slot. The metering device consists of an approximately vertical cylinder 1 in which an ejector piston 7 designed as a plunger is guided. The cylinder 1 has a lateral inlet opening 2 which is connected to the supply line for the ice cream mass, in particular to the freezing chamber of a continuously operating ice cream machine or a soft ice cream machine.

The cylinder 1 is attached to the machine frame 17 in a manner not shown and can be molded onto a cover or the like that closes the freezer chamber of the ice cream machine on the head side. The lower end of the cylinder 1 is closed by an integrally formed base part 4 which has a central outlet opening 5. The bore of the cylinder 1 has an enlarged bore section 101 directly above the base part 4. Otherwise, the inside diameter ″ of the cylinder bore is the same over the entire height of the cylinder 1.

The ejector piston 7, which is provided with two annular seals (O-rings) 72, 172, has an upper, shaft-shaped extension 73 extending out of the upper open end of the cylinder 1. The ejector piston 7 is also provided with a continuous axial bore 74 which, in the upper shaft-shaped part 73 of the ejector piston 7, merges into a longitudinal groove 75 which is at least the same width and which is open towards the machine frame 7 and has an approximately U-shaped cross section.

The upper end of the ejector piston shaft 73 has a transversely directed incision 76 which is open towards the machine frame 17 and into which an actuating member 9 that is necessarily movable up and down and pivotable to the side engages.

In the cylinder 1, below the ejector piston 7, there is arranged an opposing piston 13 designed as a disc piston, which has the same diameter as the ejector piston 7. The opposing piston 13 is fastened or molded onto the lower end of a piston rod 14 which is guided displaceably in the axial bore 74 of the ejector piston 7. The piston rod 14 carries an O-ring X, which creates both the seal and a frictional connection between the piston rod 14 and the ejection piston 7.

On the underside, the opposing piston 13 has some spaced apart projections 113 which act as spacing stops with the bottom part 4 of the cylinder 1 and hold the Gegenkol ben 13 in its lower end position in a corresponding distance from the bottom part 4. The total height of the opposing piston 13 and its lower projections 113 is smaller than the height of the lower expanded section 101 of the cylinder bore.

In the lowered end position of the opposing piston 13, in which it rests with its lower projections 113 against the cylinder bottom 4, an annular gap is formed around the opposing piston 13, which the space above the opposing piston 13 with the space below it and consequently with the Outlet opening 5 connects, as is shown in particular in FIGS. 1 and 5.

The upper end of the piston rod 14 has an integrally formed, i. stepped abutment body 8 integrally formed with the piston rod 14, e.g. is designed as a bolt with a circular cross section and extends through the axial bore 74 of the ejector piston 7 into the adjoining groove 75 of the ejector piston shaft 73.

The connecting element 8 has four outer flattened areas 141, 142, 143, 144 offset from one another and extending from the same lower transverse plane, e.g. extend upward from the upper head surface of the piston rod 14 and extend upward at different distances from the upper head surface of the piston rod 14 and end at different distances from the upper head surface of the stop body 8. As a result, the stop body 8 has four protruding, radially outwardly pointing, one below the other winkelver set and arranged at different heights stop surfaces, which correspond to the upper ends of the lateral flats 141, 142, 143, 144.

In its lower part, in which all four lateral flattened areas 141, 142, 143, 144 are present, the stop body 8 has a correspondingly square-shaped cross section, as is shown in particular in FIG. 8.

The angularly offset stop steps of the stop body 8, which are formed by the upper, staggered ends of the lateral flats 141, 142, 143, 144, cooperate with a lower-lying stop pin 15 arranged on the ejector piston 7 as a counter stop and are rotated by the Stop body 8 and as a result of the opposing piston 13 and the piston rod 14 alternately about this stop pin 15 adjustable. The stop pin 15 is slidable in a radial bore of the ejector piston 7 is arranged. The outer end of the stop pin 15 ends flush with the outer jacket surface of the ejector piston 7 and is guided through the inner wall of the cylinder bore.

The stroke carried out by the ejector piston 7 in normal Betriebsver conditions is dimensioned so that the stop pin 15 does not expire over the upper edge of the cylinder 1. The inner end of the stop pin 15, on the other hand, rests slidingly against the relevant flattened portion of the stop body 8 facing the stop pin. This will make the stop. body 8 out of the stop pin 15 non-rotatably and held in its set angular position. In the setting of the metering device shown in the drawing, the stop pin 15 interacts with the lateral flattened area 143 of the stop body 8.

The upper head end of the stop body 8 interacts with a stop 16 arranged on the machine frame 17. This stop 16 is designed as a horizontal stop bolt protruding from the machine frame 17 and engaging in the longitudinal groove 75 of the ejector piston shaft 73, which is mounted radially displaceably in the machine frame 17 and is held in the set position by frictional engagement with the help of an O-ring.

When the ejector piston 7 is completely lowered, the opposing piston 13 is pressed into its lower end position and rests against the lower end face of the ejector piston 7. This initial or rest position of the metering device is shown in FIG. The ejection piston 7 closes the side inlet opening 2 of the cylinder 1. The two sealing rings 72, 172 arranged at a distance from one another are positioned above and below the inlet opening 2.

When a portion of ice cream is tapped, the ejection piston 7 is raised and lowered once. During the upward movement of the ejection piston 7, the opposing piston 13 is initially entrained by the friction occurring between the direction of its piston rod 14 and the ejection piston 7 until the upper head end of the impact body 8 connected to the piston rod 14 hits against the stop pin 16. As a result, the opposing piston 13 is held in its upper end position somewhat below the lateral inlet opening 2, as shown in particular in FIG. In contrast, the ejection piston 7 is raised further until it clears the inlet opening 2.

In the process, the ejection piston 7 is released from the fixed opposing piston 13 and a measuring chamber connected to the inlet opening 2 is formed between these two pistons 7 and 13, as shown in FIG. The upper end position of the ejection piston 7 lies just above the inlet opening 2 and is determined by the stroke of the actuating device 9, which always remains the same.

The ice cream mass pressed in through the inlet opening 2 fills the measuring chamber formed between the ejector piston 7 and the opposed piston 13 and presses the opposed piston 13 downward while the ejector piston 7 is still stationary. This downward movement of the opposing piston 13 with respect to the ejection piston 7 is limited and stopped by the fact that the upper end of the flattening 143 of the stop body 8 set opposite the stop pin 15 pushes against the stop pin 15, as can be seen from FIG.

The ejector piston 7 is then moved downwards, whereby initially both pistons 7 and 13 with the ice cream portion enclosed between them move without relative movement, i.e. simultaneously move downwards until the opposing piston 13 with its lower projections 113 hits against the bottom part 4 of the cylinder 1 and is thereby held in its lower position corresponding to the enlarged bore section 101 of the cylinder 1, as shown in FIG. 5 is shown.

The ejection piston 7 has now closed the side inlet opening, so that during its further downward movement it ejects the ice cream portion enclosed between it and the opposing piston 13 through the lower outlet opening of the cylinder 1. The ice cream mass placed under pressure by the ejection piston 7 flows laterally around the edge of the counter-piston 13 and then below this piston through the gaps between its lower, end-face projections 113 through.

The final volume of the measuring chamber formed between the ejection piston 7 and the opposing piston 13, and consequently the amount of ice cream tapped in each case, depend on the stop step of the stop element 8, i.e. from the lateral flattening of the stop body 8 set with respect to the stop pin 15.

As a result, the tapped ice cream portion can be changed while the stroke of the ejector piston 7 remains the same, in that the stepped stop body 8 together with the integrally formed piston rod 14 of the counter piston 13 rotates with respect to the ejector piston 7, and another, higher or lower lying stop step of the stop body 8 over the stop pin 15 is set.

For this purpose, in normal operating conditions, the highest stroke position of the ejector piston 7, i. in the position of the metering shown in FIG. 3. device, the actuating member 9 is decoupled from the upper incision 76 of the ejector piston shaft 73 by pivoting it sideways.

In addition, the arranged on the machine frame 17, with the upper head end of the stop body 8 cooperating on stop pin 16 is pulled out of the longitudinal groove 75 of the ejector shaft 73 and consequently from the path of movement of the stop body 8. The ejection piston 7 can then be raised by hand so far that the stop pin 15 comes to rest over the upper edge of the cylinder 1, as is shown in particular in FIG. 6. In this position the stop pin 15 is pushed so far outwards, e.g. pulled out or pushed out until it allows the rotary movement of the stop body 8.

The piston rod 14 of the opposing piston 13 is then rotated in relation to the ejector piston 7 in such a way that another flattening or stop step of the impact body 8 corresponding to the desired ice cream portion is set in the area of the stop pin 15. The stop pin 15 is then pushed in again and brought into sliding engagement with the newly set flattening of the stop body 8. The ejection piston 7 is then lowered into the operating position and connected to the actuating member 9 by pivoting it inward.

To set the desired ice cream portion, a graduation I, 1I, 11I, IV corresponding to the various stop steps or flattened areas 141, 142, 143, 144 is provided on the upper head surface of the stop body 8, which is visible through the groove 75 of the ejector piston shaft 73 , which interacts with a marking M assigned to the stop pin 15 on the upper end face of the ejector piston 7, as shown in particular in FIG.

The invention is of course not limited to the illustrated embodiment, but can be modified in particular in structural terms within the scope of the general inventive concept. E.g. For manufacturing reasons, it may be expedient not to design the stepped stop body 8 in one piece with the piston rod 14 of the opposing piston 13, but to manufacture it separately therefrom and then connect it to the piston rod 14. The stop body 8 can also be rotatably connected to the piston rod 14 with respect to the latter.

It is also possible to design the stop steps or stop surfaces of the stepped stop body, which are angularly offset from one another and are arranged at different heights, as stop pins or the like protruding laterally from a shaft with a continuously uniform cross section. The counter-stop 15 angeord designated on the ejection piston 7 can be designed as a radial stop screw screwed through the jacket of this piston. In the illustrated Ausführungsbei game, the upward movement of the opposing piston 13 is limited by the stop 16 cooperating with the upper end part of the piston rod 14.

However, it is possible to limit the upward movement of the opposing piston 13 by a stop located in the cylinder 1 below the side inlet opening 2 of the same and interacting immediately with the opposing piston 13, for example by an inner shoulder of the cylinder 1 according to patent 403 815. The inventive arrangement of a stepped stop body 8 for adjusting the tapped ice cream portion can also be used in metering devices for simultaneous tapping of two or more different types of ice cream, for example according to patent no. 443 375.
