Description

Method of stamping metal blanks The present invention relates to a method of stamping metal blanks formed in a metal strip.

It is known that in order to manufacture cuvettes, cups or other similar metal products, the more or less deep drawing of blanks is generally carried out.

According to another known process, the blanks are kept integral with the metal strip in which they are made and the latter is made to advance, step by step, under the various tools which carry out the various operations for forming the products which, once completed, are detached from the tape.

To apply this process, it is necessary to provide around the imprint of the useful part of the blank necessary for the stamping of a product, an annular ring of a certain width which, after the execution of partial cuts, respectively following its periphery and following the periphery of the useful part of the blank, gives rise to retaining tabs connecting the useful part of the blank to the intermediate parts, which keeps the products between them and in the sheet strip until the final separation.

This method is advantageous because it allows several parts to be stamped simultaneously in a fully automatic manner, at a high speed, but it nevertheless has a major drawback which results from the high consumption of metal, in the form of waste due to the annular ring. which only serves to form the retaining tabs.

The aim of the invention is to eliminate these drawbacks.

The stamping process according to the invention is characterized in that only part of their periphery is cut out of stamping blanks with a diameter exactly equal to the diameter of the useful part of the stamping blanks which thus remain. connected directly to their spacer between two, only by attachment points which hold them together in the strip, during the subsequent forming operations. until the separation of the finished products.

An implementation of the method according to the invention will be described, by way of example with reference to the united figure of the drawing which is a partial schematic plan view of a strip of sheet metal during the forming operations of cuvettes by stamping.

In a machine not shown, a strip of sheet 1, for example made of copper, is introduced and it is made to progress step by step under a series of tools arranged at fixed stations and performing the various operations necessary for the production by stamping of cuvettes. The band has a sufficient width to simultaneously produce the products in two neighboring rows.

Holes 2a, 26, 2c are previously drilled in the parts of the strip where the parts of the sheet are located between the blanks and which are called spacing between the blanks; the holes are arranged in parallel lines 2a, 2b and 2c and, in the two lines 2a and 2b, they are in correspondence, side by side, while in the third they are placed in a staggered manner so as to frame the blanks to be stamped. Each of these blanks 3 has a diameter exactly equal to the diameter of the part of sheet metal necessary for forming a cup. The blanks 3 are delimited by partial cutouts along their periphery along three slots 4 shown in dotted lines.

These slots 4 are about 120 ° from each other, which leaves three attachment points 5 of the blanks 3 to the between-two 6, of triangular shape. These attachment points 5 are about 120,) from each other and constitute the only elements for holding the blanks 3 at the between-two 6. In this way, there are no longer any retaining tabs. blanks at the in-between as in the known process.

The present process results in a very large saving of metal. As soon as the peripheral slots 4 have been made, the blanks 3, connected to the in-between, undergo, while remaining in the strip in the usual way, the known stamping operations, in various passes, to form the cups 3a which remain connected by points 5 to the gap 6 and to the side parts 1a.

As a result of the deformation of the blanks, these stamping operations give rise at the location of the peripheral slots 4 to hollows in the form of half-crescents 7 and in the form of crescents 8 partially surrounding the formed cups 3a. The half-crescent hollows 7 communicate with the holes 26, 2c. When the bowls 3a are completed they are separated from the remaining sheet parts which are the side parts 1a and the in-between parts 6, which constitute the waste.
