Additional patent to the main patent only. 456 667 Cuttable point lock for railway turnouts
The subject of the main patent is a point lock for railway switches that can be cut open, in which a locking element connects the switch tongue with the stick rail in a non-positive manner, this locking element reaching through under the rail foot and being supported and / or guided together with the control rod in a bracket attached to the tongue, characterized that the axis of rotation of the locking member mounted in the bracket lies in a horizontal plane and the locking member is a pawl which, when the tongue is in contact, engages directly on the outer edge of the rail foot of the pole rail.
It has been shown that the outer edge of the rail foot in the case of the tip lock according to the main patent tends to dig into the lock element as a result of the movements and stresses occurring when driving on. This gives rise to operational disadvantages.
In order to avoid the same, the present invention is characterized in that the outer edge of the rail foot of the stick rail is equipped with a pressure bar to widen the contact area with the pawl, which pawl engages in the adjacent position of the tongue on the pressure bar and the one facing the pawl Side of the pressure bar is designed such that the contact surface between the pawl and the pressure bar has an angle of inclination with respect to the pawl pivot point which is equal to or greater than the angle of friction.
As a result of these measures, widening the support surface and inclining it, blocking of the pawl movement as a result of local wear and friction can no longer occur.
The pressure bar can be screwed, riveted or welded to the rail, or it can be designed as a removable element for clamping.
Since the entire lock is expediently attached to the switch tongue, it can be advantageous to design the pressure bar in such a way that it is also a catch piece for the control rod, which means that it can only run a limited amount of play, especially downwards.
The invention is explained below using an example.
In the figures: 1 the stick rail 2 the switch tongue 3 the pawl of the point lock 4 the control rod 5 the pressure bar 6 the support surface inclined by the friction angle between the pawl and the pressure bar 7 the catch for the control rod 8 the attachment of the clampable version of the
Print bar
Fig. 1 shows the tip closure on a switch in side elevation, the closed side, i.e. H.
the one with the tongue attached is drawn, at least with the parts of interest.
The mode of operation of the lock can be clearly seen from the illustration. Instead of the latch, as shown and described in the main patent, engaging directly on the outer edge of the rail foot, the force is transmitted here via the support surface 6 to the pressure bar 5 and from here to the foot of the rail 1.
Since the inclination of the support surface 6 is equal to or greater than the angle of friction, the pawl 3 can move freely downwards after the adjusting rod 4 has been withdrawn, at the latest when the lock is actuated by the adjusting rod 4 without the pawl 3 can be held by the self-locking of the support surface 6. Since the support surface is wide, there are no wear trenches.
2 shows the pressure bar in connection with a clamping device as a removable element in a side elevation and the catch 7 for the control rod 4; this means an additional element and is therefore shown in dashed lines in all figures.
Fig. 3 shows the pressure bar in connection with a clamping device, as a removable element, in elevation.
Pressure strips, which are screwed, riveted or welded to the rail foot, have not been shown in the drawing, since these are generally known techniques.
