Description

The present invention relates to the packaging of long pasta such as spaghetti, macaroni and the like.

It is known that like most food products, pasta of the aforementioned type is generally placed on the market in the packaged state inside cases or sachets containing a determined weight of the goods, the tolerance allowed being in fact very scaled down. Prior to packaging, it is therefore necessary to carry out a dosage in order to produce, from the bulk pasta, clusters comprising the exact number of strands of dough corresponding to the desired weight for each case or bag, these clusters being then fed individually to the automatic packaging machines.

Experience shows that regardless of the care taken in spreading the strands of fresh dough on the drying racks and in regulating the drying operation itself, long dough never presents a perfectly straight profile, so that their more or less pronounced bending has until the present time been opposed to a volumetric dosage, obviously simpler. It is therefore necessary in practice to have recourse to electronic weighing dosing devices, of relatively slow operation and very high cost; furthermore, such devices prove to be difficult to operate and require frequent repairs and adjustments which further slow down the rate of operation.

The object of the present invention is to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks and its object is a method suitable for allowing volumetric dosing of long pasta prior to their packaging, and this despite the profile irregularities presented by the strands.

The method according to the invention consists in introducing the pasta into a receptacle with an elongated rectangular profile, the longitudinal walls of which, established with a slight clearance near the length of said pasta, are shaped so as to determine a transverse narrowing substantially located at their midpoint. , to impart to said container a vibratory movement suitable for carrying out the storage of the pasta according to their smallest size, to interrupt the introduction of the latter using a movable shutter provided at an appropriate height above the bottom of the container to delimit a determined volume, and to operate the emptying of the container with a view to a subsequent metering operation.

Tests have shown that the central narrowing presented by the dosing container ensures, in cooperation with the vibrations imparted to the latter, the perfect arrangement of the strands of dough even in the case where these have pronounced bends, so that the dosage is perfectly regular, the precision obtained being even greater than that achieved using electronic weighing dosage devices.

The subject of the invention is also a machine for implementing the above method, which machine is characterized in that it comprises a carcass inside which is provided at least one vertical corridor with an elongated rectangular section traversed. by the horizontally oriented doughs to be dosed, the longitudinal walls of said passage comprising on at least part of their height vertical bosses arranged opposite each other in the central part thereof in order to determine a transverse narrowing, a generator vibrations associated with said carcass, an eclipsable bottom which closes down the aforementioned corridor, a movable shutter provided at an appropriate height above said bottom to determine in this corridor a container of volume corresponding to the desired dosage,

and means suitable for ensuring the proper actuation in succession of the shutter and the abovementioned bottom.

The appended drawing illustrates an embodiment of the machine according to the invention.

Fig. 1 is an elevational view with cutaway showing the general arrangement of this machine.

Fig. 2 is a horizontal section on a larger scale along the plane indicated at II-II in FIG. 1.

Fig. 3 is a detail vertical section taken on the plane 111-111 of FIG. 2.

Fig. 4 is a partial horizontal section along the plane IV IV of lafig. 1.

The machine shown in fig. 1 comprises a parallelepipedal carcass 1 which is supported by means of elastically deformable blocks such as 2. Against the side wall of this carcass 1 is fixed a vibration generator, of the type with eccentric weights or the like, schematically represented at 3. A the interior of the carcass 1 is provided a funnel-shaped element 5, the upper opening of which is arranged below the station for unloading the drying racks or the storage silos; in the manner known per se, between this unloading station and the inlet of the funnel 5 are interposed baffle walls suitable for guiding the strands of dough and ensuring that they fall by gravity to the horizontal position .

The carcass 1 is integral with a hollow vertical lower extension inside which is fixed a bow 6 intended to divide the layer of dough strands into two parallel series which penetrate inside two vertical corridors 7 and 8. These corridors are delimited by two walls 9 oriented longitudinally with respect to the elongated rectangular profile formed by all of said corridors, by a central partition 10 and by two transverse walls 11. As shown in FIG. 2, the longitudinal walls 9, provided transparent, are held by transverse spacers 12 integral with fixed tubular uprights 13 of square section on which are fixed the vertical edges of the central partition 10; the transverse walls 11 are carried, preferably in an adjustable manner, by the lower part of the carcass 1.

It will be noted that these two walls 11 are separated from one another by a distance corresponding, except for a slight clearance, to the length of the strands which form the long pastes to be dosed.

The pastes which fall in each lane 7 or 8 are guided by two pairs of vertical bosses 14, fixed against the walls 9 and the middle partition 10. In the central part of each lane there is also provided a pair of bosses 15, but the distance d which separates these is smaller than that D which separates the two bosses 14, so that said bosses 15 determine a kind of transverse narrowing for the dough strands.

These are retained in the aforementioned corridors by a common eclipsable bottom consisting of a series of plates 16 (FIG. 3) with a profile in the form of an isosceles right triangle; these plates 16, four in number in the exemplary embodiment considered, are fixed to a horizontal shaft 17 mounted below the lower edge of the central partition 10, inside a vertical slot 18 formed between the edge supra and the upper edge of a lower median partition 19 (Fig. 1).

For this purpose and as shown in fig. 4, the ends of this shaft 17 pass through slots made in the uprights 13 and are supported in bearings 20 fixed on transverse flanges 21; these two cheeks 21 are assembled to each other by threaded rods 22 and their inward facing face is integral with a U-profile guide 23, slidably mounted on the corresponding upright 13. It can be seen that the assembly 21-22-23 constitutes a kind of vertically moving carriage, the height adjustment of which is controlled by means of two threaded rod mechanisms 24. This carriage is provided with a vertical extension 25 (fig. .

I and 2) fixed to one of the cheeks 21 and on which the cylinder 26 of an actuating pneumatic cylinder is hingedly mounted, the movable rod of which is coupled to the shaft 17 by a connecting rod 27, which thus ensures the pivoting of said shaft by 90.

Above the common collapsible bottom 16-17, each passage 7 or 8 is equipped with a movable shutter consisting of a fork 28 (fig. 2 and 3), provided at the level of the central bosses 15.

Each fork 28, guided by a plate 29, is carried by the end of a horizontal arm 30 articulated at 31a on one or the other of two horizontal longitudinal members 31 which enclose the walls 9. The free end of each of the two arms 30 is coupled to
The movable member 32 of a pneumatic cylinder 33, the cylinder of which is itself articulated at 31b on the corresponding side member 31. It goes without saying that the transparent walls 9 are notched to allow the displacement of the forks 28 under the effect of the jacks 33.

The operation of the machine according to the invention is easily understood. It will be assumed that the eclipsable bottom 16-17 is in the position illustrated in FIG. 3, for which said bottom occupies the corridor 7, the adjacent corridor 8 being closed by the corresponding shutter or fork 28. The fork 28 associated with the passage 7 being in the withdrawn position, the strands of dough come to rest on the plates 16 and are subjected to the vibratory effect imparted to the whole of the carcass 1 by the generator 3. This vibratory movement, joint the transverse shrinkage determined by the central bosses 15, ensures the perfect storage of the dough strands which are oriented according to their smallest size.

When the level of the strands accumulated in the corridor 7 above the bottom 16-17 exceeds the level of the shutter or fork 28, the corresponding jack 33 is actuated and said shutter comes by pivoting the arm 30 to be placed inside of said corridor; the displacement of the fork 28 has the effect of driving up the strands of dough arranged above the horizontal plane of said fork and of stopping the filling of the housing determined between the base 16-17 and the aforementioned shutter.

The jack 26 is then actuated, which has the effect of causing the shaft 17 to pivot, the plates 16 of which are placed inside the passage 8. The strands accumulated in the passage 7 below the fork 28 fall through gravity and are collected for transport to the packaging machine. Simultaneously the jack 33 of the fork 28 which is associated with the corridor 8 is actuated, so that said fork slips laterally and the strands of dough which it held fall on the collapsible bottom 1617. A new dosing cycle can be performed. performed. It goes without saying that the successive actuation of the jacks 26 and 33 is ensured automatically by a timer or similar programmer.

It will be understood that the machine according to the invention is thus capable of working continuously at a high rate. The volumetric dosage it operates is strictly precise, regardless of the bending or profile irregularities of the strands of dough treated. The adjustment mechanisms 24, resting on the fixed longitudinal members 31, make it possible to modify the volume of the housings made in the corridors between the bottom 16-17 and the two shutters 28. When the legal regulations so require, the metered piles of pasta can be subjected to a weighing operation with a view to their control prior to packaging, but this operation does not give rise to any rectification by addition or subtraction of strands, the device being content to eliminate the clusters which would not present the weight exact required.

It is interesting to note that tests have shown that in the absence of the central narrowing operated by the bosses 15, the strands of dough, despite the vibratory effect, ranged more or less well, which obviously affects the precision. dosage. This shrinkage is therefore essential for the proper functioning of the entire machine.

It is understood that one can impart to the transverse walls 1 1 of the corridors a vibratory movement independent of that which drives the whole of the carcass, in order to facilitate the longitudinal positioning of the strands of dough. It also goes without saying that the longitudinal walls 9 are capable of being provided which can be adjusted in position, so as to perfect the adjustment obtained by moving the eclipsable bottom 16-17. Finally, it can be seen that the control of this bottom and of the shutters can be ensured using electric actuators with electromagnets, instead of the pneumatic actuators 26 and 33.
