worin B Halogen oder eine Sulfoestergruppe bedeutet, beispielsweise 2-Brom-propan, 2-Brom-l-chlor-propan oder 2-Brom-propanol, gegebenenfalls in Gegenwart säurebindender Mittel, in an sich bekannter Weise umgesetzt werden und dann durch in der organischen Chemie übliche Reaktionen, insbesondere durch Veresterung der so gewonnenen Propanole, in weitere Verbindungen der Formel I überführt werden.
Zur präparativen Herstellung der Verbindungen der Formel I können verschiedene Verfahren angewandt werden, von denen im folgenden und in den Beispielen einige beschrieben werden sollen.
1) Alkohole der Formel I (Z=OH) können, wie oben beschrieben, durch Umsetzung von Verbindungen der Formel III mit Halogenalkoholen der Formel IV, durch Verseifung der entsprechenden Halogenalkyl-Verbindungen (Z=Halogen) oder durch Reduktion entsprechender Ester der Carbonsäuren der Formel II vorzugsweise mit Metallhydriden wie beispielsweise Lithium-aluminiumhydrid erhalten werden. Für R2=H kann man Alkohole der Formel I auch erhalten durch Umsetzung einer Verbindung der Formel III, vorzugsweise ihres Alkalisalzes mit Äthylenoxid.
2) Halogen-Verbindungen der Formel I (Z=Hal) kann man herstellen durch Umsetzung der entsprechenden Alkohole mit Halogenierungsmitteln wie Thionylchlorid.
3) Merkaptane der Formel I (Z=SH) erhält man beispielsweise aus den entsprechenden Halogenverbindungen der Formel I (Z=Hal) durch Umsetzung mit Metallhydro-gensulfiden, vorzugsweise Alkali-hydrogensulfiden bzw. -xanthaten oder durch Umsetzung mit Thioharnstoff und anschliessende alkalische Spaltung der entstandenen Isothiu-roniumsalze.
4) Ester werden beispielsweise durch Umsetzung von Alkoholen der Formel I (Z=OH) in Gegenwart säurebindender Mittel (Basen) durch Umsetzung mit den entsprechenden Säurehalogeniden, vorzugsweise Säurechloriden oder Säureanhydriden hergestellt, vorzugsweise in inerten organischen Lösungsmitteln, oder auch durch direkte Veresterung der Komponenten in Gegenwart saurer Katalysatoren und Verwendung geeigneter, mit Wasser Azeotrope bildender Lösungsmittel oder in Gegenwart wasserbindender Mittel. Als Säurehalogenide (-chloride) können solche von ein-basigen Säuren wie Alkancarbonsäuren, Benzoesäuren, Ben-zolsulfonsäuren u.a. verwendet werden, aber auch solche von mehrbasigen Säuren wie Kohlensäure, Schwefelsäure, Dicarbonsäuren, bei denen dann die andere(n) Säuregrup-pe(n) z.B. verestert oder amidiert sind, z.B. durch Esterreste OR6 oder Amidreste

Insbesondere können Kohlensäureamide erhalten werden durch Umsetzung von Verbindungen der Formel I (Z=OH) mit entsprechenden Carbamidsäurehalogeniden in Gegenwart von säurebindenden Mitteln oder durch Umsetzung mit Isocyanaten der Formel R4NCO.
5) Amine der Formel I (Z=NR4R5) erhält man durch Umsetzung entsprechender Halogenide (Chloride) der Formel I [Z=Hal(Cl)] durch Umsetzung mit Aminen HNR4R5 in an sich bekannter Weise.
Die Grundkörper der Formel III lassen sich in an sich bekannter Weise, beispielsweise analog den Verfahren der DE-OS 1 668 896 und 2 433 067 herstellen.
Die erfindungsgemäss verwendeten Verbindungen der Formel I besitzen ein breites Wirkungsspektrum gegen Schadgräser, werden aber durch zweikeimblättrige Kulturpflanzen und durch verschiedene Getreidearten toleriert und können daher zur selektiven Bekämpfung von Schadgräsern in Kulturpflanzen eingesetzt werden.
Die erfindungsgemässen Mittel enthalten die Wirkstoffe der Formel I im allgemeinen zu 2-95 Gew.-%. Sie können als benetzbare Pulver, emulgierbare Konzentrate, versprühbare Lösungen, Stäubemittel oder Granulate in den üblichen Zubereitungen angewendet werden.
Benetzbare Pulver sind in Wasser gleichmässig disper-gierbare Präparate, die neben dem Wirkstoff ausser einem Verdünnungs- oder Inertstoff noch Netzmittel, z.B. poly-oxäthylierte Alkylphenole, polyoxäthylierte Oleyl- oder Stea-rylamine, Alkyl- oder Alkylphenyl-sulfonate und Dispergiermittel, z.B. ligninsulfonsaures Natrium, 2,2'-dinaphthylme-than-6,6'-disulfonsaures Natrium, dinaphthylmethandisulfon-saures Natrium oder auch oleylmethyltaurinsaures Natrium enthalten.
Emulgierbare Konzentrate werden durch Auflösen des Wirkstoffes in einem organischen Lösungsmittel, z.B. Buta-nol, Cyclohexanon, Dimethylformamid, Xylol oder auch höhersiedenden Aromaten und Zusatz eines nichtionischen Netzmittels, beispielsweise eines polyoxyäthylierten Alkyl-phenols oder eines polyoxyäthylierten Oleyl- oder Stearyl-amins, erhalten.
Stäubemittel erhält man durch Vermählen des Wirkstoffes mit fein verteilten, festen Stoffen, z.B. Talkum, natürlichen Tonen, wie Kaolin, Bentonit, Pyrophyllit oder Diatomeenerde.
Versprühbare Lösungen, wie sie vielfach in Sprühdosen gehandelt werden, enthalten den Wirkstoff in einem organischen Lösungsmittel gelöst, daneben befindet sich z.B. als Treibmittel ein Gemisch von Fluorchlorkohlenwasserstoffen.
Granulate können entweder durch Verdüsen des Wirkstoffes auf adsorptionsfähiges, granuliertes Inertmaterial hergestellt werden oder durch Aufbringen von Wirkstoffkonzentraten mittels Klebemitteln, z.B. Polyvinylalkohol, poly-acrylsaurem Natrium oder auch Mineralölen auf die Oberfläche von Trägerstoffen, wie Sand, Kaolinite, oder von granuliertem Inertmaterial. Auch können geeignete Wirkstoffe in der für die Herstellung von Düngemittelgranalien üblichen Weise — gewünschtenfalls in Mischung mit Düngemitteln — hergestellt werden.
Bei herbiziden Mitteln können die Konzentrationen der Wirkstoffe in den handelsüblichen Formulierungen verschieden sein. In benetzbaren Pulvern variiert die Wirkstoffkonzentration z.B. zwischen etwa 10% und 95%, der Rest besteht aus den oben angegebenen Formulierungszusätzen. Bei emulgierbaren Konzentraten ist die Wirkstoffkonzentration etwa 10% bis 80%. Staubförmige Formulierungen enthalten

meistens 5-20% an Wirkstoff, versprühbare Lösungen etwa 2-20%. Bei Granulaten hängt der Wirkstoffgehalt z.T. davon ab, ob die wirksame Verbindung flüssig oder fest vorliegt und welche Granulierhilfsmittel, Füllstoffe usw. verwendet werden.
Zur Anwendung werden die handelsüblichen Konzentrate gegebenenfalls in üblicher Weise verdünnt, z.B. bei benetzbaren Pulvern und emulgierbaren Konzentraten mittels Wasser. Staubförmige und granulierte Zubereitungen sowie versprühbare Lösungen werden vor der Anwendung nicht mehr mit weiteren inerten Stoffen verdünnt. Mit den äusseren Bedingungen wie Temperatur, Feuchtigkeit u.a. variiert die erforderliche Aufwandmenge. Sie kann innerhalb weiter Grenzen schwanken, z.B. zwischen 0,1 und 10,0 kg/ha Aktivsubstanz, vorzugsweise liegt sie jedoch zwischen 0,5 und 5 kg/ha.
Die erfindungsgemässen Wirkstoffe können mit anderen Herbiziden und Bodeninsektiziden kombiniert werden.
Formulierungsbeispiele
Beispiel A:
Ein emulgierbares Konzentrat wird erhalten aus 15 Gew.-Teilen Wirkstoff 75 Gew.-Teilen Cyclohexanon als Lösungsmittel und 10 Gew.-Teilen oxäthyliertes Nonylphenol(lOAeO) als Emulgator.
Beispiel B:
Ein in Wasser leicht dispergierbares benetzbares Pulver wird erhalten, indem man
25 Gew.-Teile Wirkstoff
64 Gew.-Teile kaolinhaltiges Quarz als Inertstoff 10 Gew.-Teile ligninsulfonsaures Kalium und 1 Gew.-Teil oleylmethyltaurinsaures Natrium als
Netz- und Dispergiermittel mischt und in einer Stiftmühle mahlt.
Beispiel C:
Ein Stäubemittel wird enthalten, indem man
10 Gew.-Teile Wirkstoff und 90 Gew.-Teile Talkum als Inertstoff mischt und in einer Schlagmühle zerkleinert.
Beispiel D:
Ein Granulat besteht z.B. aus etwa 2-15 Gew.-Teilen Wirkstoff 98-85 Gew.-Teilen inerten Granulatmaterialien, wie z.B. Atapulgit, Bimsstein und Quarzsand.

2-[4'-(2" ,4"-Dichlorphenoxi)-phenoxi ]-propanol
28,6 g (0,75 Mol) Lithiumaluminiumhydrid werden in 2 1 absolutem Äther vorgelegt. Unter Rühren werden 354,3 g (1 Mol) 2-[4'-(2",4"-Dichlorphenoxi)-phenoxi]-propionsäure-äthylester gelöst in 500 ml absolutem Äther so zugetropft, dass das Reaktionsgemisch am Sieden gehalten wird. Nach der Zugabe wird 1 Stunde unter Siedetemperatur nachgerührt. Nach Zugabe von einem Liter Wasser und einem Liter 10%iger Schwefelsäure wird die ätherische Phase abgetrennt und die wässrige Phase zweimal mit je 300 ml Äther ausgeschüttelt. Die vereinigten Ätherphasen werden mit
Wasser neutral gewaschen und getrocknet. Nach Abziehen des Äthers wird der verbleibende Rückstand unter Vakuum destilliert. Nach der Destillation erhält man 303 g (96,7 % d. Th.) 2-[4'-(2",4"-Dichlorphenoxi)-phenoxi]-propanol vom Kp0il: 181°C.

2-[ 4'-(4"-T rifluormethylphenoxi)-phenoxi ]-1 -chlor-propan
31,2 g (0,1 Mol) des in Beispiel 4 erhaltenen Alkohols werden in 150 ml Toluol mit 7,9 g (0,1 Mol) Pyridin vorgelegt und auf —5°C abgekühlt. Zur vorgelegten Mischung werden 13,1 g (0,11 Mol) Thionylchlorid so zugetropft, dass die Temperatur 10°C nicht übersteigt. Nach der Zugabe wird Yz Stunde nachgerührt, die Temperatur langsam auf 110°C gesteigert und dort 2 Stunden gehalten. Man kühlt ab, gibt ca. 150 ml 20% ige Salzsäure zu und rührt % Stunde nach. Die Toluolphase wird abgetrennt und die wässrige Phase zweimal mit je 100 ml Toluol ausgeschüttelt. Die vereinigten Toluolextrakte werden mit Wasser neutral gewaschen und getrocknet. Toluol wird abdestilliert und der verbleibende Rückstand destilliert. Nach der Destillation erhält man 31,3 g (94,6% d. Th.) 2-[4'-(4"-Trifluormethyl-phenoxi)-phenoxi]-l-chlor-propan vom KpL2: 182°C, welches nach 4 Tagen erstarrt und einen Fp. von 38°-39°C aufweist.

Th.) an Benzoesäure-<2-[4'-(4"-Chlorphenoxi)-phenoxi]--prop-l-yl>-ester, welcher nach 3 Tagen fest wird und einen Fp. von 68,5°C aufweist.

25 g (0,08 Mol) des in Beispiel 1 erhaltenen Alkohols werden mit 21,5 g (0,2 Mol) Dimethylcarbamidsäurechlorid und 20 g (0,198 Mol) Triäthylamin in 150 ml Toluol zum Rückfluss erhitzt, bis im Dünnschichtchromatogramm kein Ausgangsmaterial mehr zu sehen ist. 25 g (0,08 Mol) des in Beispiel 4 erhaltenen Alkohols werden mit 10,1 g (0,1 Mol) Triäthylamin in 50 ml Toluol gelöst und innerhalb von 10 Minuten in eine Lösung von 9,2 g (0,08 Mol) Methansulfonylchlorid in 140 ml Toluol eingetropft. Nach der Zugabe wird 2 Stunden nachgerührt und dreimal mit je 150 ml Wasser gewaschen. Es wird getrocknet und Toluol unter Vakuum abdestilliert. l-Aminocarbonyloxi-2-[4'-(4"-trifluormethylphenoxi)--phenoxi]-propan
31,2 g (0,1 Mol) des in Beispiel 4 erhaltenen Alkohols wurden mit 13 g (0,2 Mol) Natriumcyanat in 200 ml Methylenchlorid vorgelegt, dazu tropft man unter Rühren innerhalb einer Stunde 24 g Trifluoressigsäure. Nach der Zugabe wird so lange zum Sieden erhitzt (ca. 2 Tage), bis dünn-schichtchromatographisch kein Ausgangsmaterial mehr nachzuweisen ist. Es wird abgekühlt und in 400 ml Wasser eingerührt, die organische Phase wird abgetrennt und mit Wasser neutral gewaschen. Methylenchlorid wird abdestilliert, der verbleibende Rückstand wird aus Äthanol/Wasser umkristallisiert. Nach Umkristallisieren erhält man 27,2 g (80,4% d. Th.) an l-Aminocarbonyloxi-2-[4'-(4"-trifluorme-thylphenoxi)-phenoxi]-propan mit Fp. 80°-82°C.

Biologische Beispiele Beispiel 1
Samen von Gräsern wurden in Töpfen ausgesät und die als Spritzpulver formulierten erfindungsgemässen Präparate in verschiedenen Dosierungen auf die Erdoberfläche gesprüht. Anschliessend wurden die Töpfe für 4 Wochen in einem Gewächshaus aufgestellt. Das Resultat der Behandlung (ebenso auch bei den folgenden Beispielen) wurde durch eine Bonitierung nach dem Schema von Bolle (Nachrichtenblatt des Deutschen Pflanzenschutzdienstes 16, 1964, 92-94) ermittelt:

55 Samen von Gräsern wurden in Töpfen ausgesät und im Gewächshaus angezogen. 3 Wochen nach der Aussaat wurden die als Spritzpulver formulierten erfindungsgemässen Präparate in verschiedenen Dosierungen auf die Pflanzen gesprüht und nach 4 Wochen Standzeit im Gewächshaus die 60 Wirkung der Präparate bonitiert. Auch hier dienten Fluorodifen und Mecoprop als herbizide Vergleichsmittel. Die beanspruchten Verbindungen waren bei diesem Applikationsverfahren zwar etwas schwächer wirksam als bei dem in Beispiel I beschriebenen Vorauflaufverfahren, jedoch waren sie 65 besser gegen Gräser wirksam als die beiden Vergleichsmittel (Tabelle II). Eine ähnliche Wirkung gegen Gräser zeigten ferner die beanspruchten Verbindungen gemäss Beispiel 2, 10, 24, 36, 37, 39 und 41.

Samen einer grösseren Anzahl von Kulturpflanzen wurden in Töpfen eingelegt. Ein Teil der Töpfe wurde 2 bis 3 Wochen in einem Gewächshaus zum Keimen und Auflaufen aufgestellt und mit erfindungsgemässen Substanzen behandelt, nachdem die Pflanzen 2 bis 3 echte Blätter entwickelt hatten; die anderen Töpfe wurden unmittelbar nach dem Auslegen in derselben Weise besprüht, wie in Beispiel 21 angegeben.
Das Ergebnis wurde 4 bis Al/2 Wochen nach der Behandlung festgestellt, es ist in Tabelle III enthalten. Im einzelnen zeigen die Ergebnisse, dass fast alle zweikeimblättrigen
Kulturpflanzen in der höchsten Dosierung (2,5 kg/ha) die erfindungsgemässen Präparate sowohl im Vorauflauf- (pre-emergent) wie im Nachauflauf-Verfahren (postemergent) sehr gut vertragen; da die wirksame Dosierung bei ca. 0,6 kg/ha liegt, sind die erfindungsgemässen Wirkstoffe somit in diesen Kulturen gut selektiv.

Beispiel IV
Samen von Mais und Reis und von einigen in diesen Kulturen auftretenden Ungräsern wurden in Töpfen ausgesät und 3 Wochen im Gewächshaus keimen lassen. Die als Spritzpulver formulierten erfindungsgemässen Präparate und die Vergleichsmittel wurden anschliessend in verschiedenen Dosierungen auf die Pflanzen gesprüht und nach 4 Wochen wurde die Wirkung der Präparate ermittelt.
Als Vergleichsmittel wurden folgende Verbindungen verwendet:
A = 2-[4'-(2",4"-Dichlorphenoxy)-phenoxy]-propionsäu-
re-methylester (DT-OS 22 23 894) B = 2-[4'-(4"-Chlorphenoxy)-phenoxy]-propionsäure-iso-
butylester (DT-OS 22 23 894) C = 2-[4'-(4"-Trifluormethylphenoxy)-phenoxy]-propion-säuremethylester (DT-OS 24 33 067)
Die beanspruchten Verbindungen zeigten gegenüber den Vergleichsherbiziden eine deutlich bessere Verträglichkeit bei Mais und/oder Reis. Bei den Dosierungen, die die Kulturpflanzen nicht oder nur ganz leicht schädigen, waren sie ausgezeichnet wirksam gegen die geprüften Ungräser. Die Vergi eichsverbindungen hingegen waren in Mais und Reis nicht selektiv.

In einem weiteren Versuch wurden die Verbindungen 8, 46, 117 und 91 mit der Vergleichsverbindung C im Nachauflauf entsprechend Beispiel I behandelt.
Die in Tabelle V dargestellten Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die beanspruchten Verbindungen den Vergleichsmitteln in der Kulturpflanzenverträglichkeit überlegen sind (Verbindung 8) bzw. bei gleich guter Verträglichkeit an Sojabohne Wirkungsvorteile gegenüber den geprüften Ungräsern zeigen.

Herbizide Mittel nach Anspruch 1, gekennzeichnet durch einen Gehalt an Verbindungen der Formel I, worin(R)n = 1 bis 2 Chlor- oder Bromatome oder CF3-Gruppen, wobei diese Reste gleich oder verschieden sein können;n4 =0 oder (R^n = Cl oder Br in 2-Stellung zu Y;lR2 = CH3;X, Y = Sauerstoff;Z = -OH, -Cl, -Br, den Rest der Formel II, in der (R)n und % die oben genannten Bedeutungen haben; ferner die GruppenOII-o-C-NC / , r4 = H, (Cj-C4)Alkyl, Phenyl,RsHalogenphenyl, Methylphe-nyl oder Trifluormethylphe-nyl; und R5 wie in Anspruch 1 angegeben;-0-S02-R3 mit R3 — CH3) Phenyl, Methylphenyl oderChlorphenyl;-0-S03-R, mit R, = (C1-C4)Alkyl oder Kat®;OII-0-C-R6 mit Re = (CrC9)Alkyl, (C1-C4)Chloralkyl, Phenoxy(C2-C3)alkyl, das gegebenenfalls im Phenylrest durch 1 bis 2 Halogenatome und/oder Methylgruppen substituiert ist, (C2-C5)-Alkenyl oder Phenyl, das gegebenenfalls durch -Cl, -Br, -N02, -QH3, -CF3 oder -OCH3 ein- oder zweifach substituiert ist; und Kat®: Na K+, NH4-, H Ca-, H2N+(CH3)2, H2N+(C2HS)2,J \H3N+CH2CH2OH, HN+(C2H5)3, fH2 0 oderHN(CH2CH2OH)3 bedeuten.3. Herbizide Mittel, gekennzeichnet durch ihren Gehalt an Verbindungen der Formel I(R)worin R gleiche oder verschiedene Substituenten aus derGruppe Halogen, CF3, CHS oder C2H5;Rj = gleiche oder verschiedene Substituenten aus derGruppe bestehend aus Halogen und CF3; R2 = H oder (CrC4)-Alkyl;n = die Zahlen 1 oder 2;n, = Null, 1, 2;X und Y = O oder S;Z = -OH, -SH,r;\-NcT } , -F, -Cl, -Br, -J, -OCO-OR,Rs r;\-o-co-ncT ;r;\-o-so2-nc ) , -o-co-r8,R»'-O-SO2-R6, -O-SO3-R,oder den Rest der Formel II-o-co-ch-y-(R)R3 = (Cj-C12)Alkyl, (C3-C8)CycloaIkyl, (C2-C10)Alkenyl, (C5-C6)CycloaIkenyl, (C3-C8)Alkinyl, Phenyl oder Benzyl, wobei die genannten Reste auch durch Halogen, CF3, N02, CN, (CrC4)Alkyl, (Ci-QAlkylthio, (CrC„)Alkoxy, -OH, -NH2, (CrC6)Alkylamino, Di--(C1-CGJ-alkylamino und/oder (C1-C6)Alkoxycarbonyl substituiert sein können;R4 = H, (CrC4)Alkyl, (C2-C4)Alkenyl, Cyclopentyl, Cyclo-hexyl, (CrC4)Alkoxy oder Phenyl, das gegebenenfalls durch Halogen, CF3, N02, CN, (C1-C4)Alkyl, (CrC4)Alkylthio, (CrC4)Alkoxy, OH, NH2, (Q-Q)-Alkylamino, DHQ-QJalkylamino und/oder (C^Cg)-Alkoxycarbonyl substituiert ist;R5 = H oder (Ci-C4)Alkyl; oderR4 und R5 zusammen mit dem Stickstoffatom einen gesättigten heterocyclischen Ring mit 2 bis 5 C-Atomen, der durch O, S oder den Rest der Formel NR'g unterbrochen sein kann, worin R's die Bedeutung von Rg hat;R6 = einen Rest der Formel R3 oder Phenoxy-(C2-C3)alkyl, das gegebenenfalls im Phenylring 1- bis 3mal durch F, Cl, Br und/oder -CH3 substituiert ist; R, = H, (C1-C4)Alkyl oder Kat®; und Kat® das Kation einer anorganischen oder organischen Base bedeuten, neben Formulierungshilfsmitteln und Trägerstoffen.
