Description
Die Erfindung betrifft daher ein Verfahren zur Herstellung der vorgenannten l-Oxa-3,8-diaza-spiro-[4,5]-decane und deren Verwendung zum Stabilisieren von organischen Polymeren gegen die zersetzende Wirkung von Licht, insbesondere UV-20 Licht, diesich darin zeigt, dass die Polymeren sich verfärben und/ oder verspröden.

Die Verbindungen der Formel I mit m = 0 und R5 = H werden in der Weise erhalten, dass man ein 2.2-Dimethyl-6,6-dialkyl-4-Hydroxy-4-carbamoylpiperidin der Formel II
in welcher R1 und R2die weiteroben angegebenen Bedeutungen haben, oder ein Salzeines derartigen Piperidins, vorzugsweise ein Hydrochlorid mit der 1- bis 3-fach molaren Menge eines Aldehyds bzw. Ketons der Formel III
C =0 (III),
worin R3 und R4 die oben angegebenen Bedeutungen haben, umsetzt. Die Reaktion wird in Eisessig als organisches Lösungsmittel in Gegenwart von Schwefelsäure oder Polyposphorsäure, bevorzugt von Schwefelsäure, als wasserentziehendes Mittel durchgeführt. Dabei wird eine Temperatur von 0 bis 180° C, vorzugsweise von 20 bis 120° C, beim Einsatz von Aldehyden insbesondere von 20 bis 30°C, eingehalten.
Man geht vorzugsweise so vor, dass man 1 Mol Hydroxycar-bamoylpiperidin und 1 bis 3 Mol der Carbonylverbindung vorlegt, die 5- bis 10-fache Gewichtsmenge Eisessig, bezogen auf eingesetztes Carbamoylpiperidin, hinzufügt und 2 Mol konzentrierte Schwefelsäure zutropft. Im Verlaufe der Reaktion fallen die schwefelsauren Salze der Verbindungen der Formel I im allgemeinen aus, anderenfalls muss zunächst eingeengt werden. Aus den Salzen erhält man durch Behandeln mit Ammoniak oder Alkalilaugen die freien Basen. Aus ihnen lassen sich - bevorzugt in Gegenwart eines Lösungsmittels oder von Wasser-Salze organischer oder anorganischer Säuren herstellen. Verbindungen , in denen R'' ein Alkylrest ist, erhält man durch Umsetzen der Verbindungen mit R-"1 = H durch Alkylierung mit Alkylhalo-geniden, bevorzugt Bromiden und Jodiden.
Ein bevorzugtes 4-Hydroxy-4-carbamoylpiperidin ist das 2,2,6,6-Tetramethyl-4-hydroxy-4-carbamoylpiperidin; geeignete Aldehyde bzw. Ketonesindz. B. Formaldehyd, Isobutyralde-hyd, n-Valeraldehyd, Isovaleraldehyd, Capronaldehyd. 2-Äthyl-butyraldehyd, Önanthaldehyd, 2-Äthylcapronaldehvd, Isonon-vlaldehyd. Caprinaldehyd, Isodecylaldehyd, Laurinaldehyd, Benzaldehyd, p-Chlorbenzaldehyd. Aceton. Methyläthylketon, Methyl-propylketon, Methyl-isopropylketon, Hexanon-2, Methyl-isobutylketon. Heptanon-2, Octanon-2. Undecanon-2. Diäthylketon. Heptanon-4, Nonanon-5, Octanon-3. Dibenzyl-keton, Cyclopentanon, Cvclohexanon, Cyclododecanon, Benzo-phenon und2,2,6,6-Tetramethvlpiperidin-4-on (= Triaceton-amin).

Von besonderer Bedeutung sind die Verbindungen, die sich von dem leicht zugänglichen Triacetonamin ableiten. In diesem Falle sind R1 und R2 Methylgruppen. R1 und R2 können zusammen mit dem Kohlenstoffatom, an das sie gebunden sind, einen Cyclopentan- oder einen Cyclohexanring, der jeweils gegebenenfalls auch noch eine Methylgruppe als Substituenten tragen kann, bilden, oder für eine Gruppierung der Formel hc ch x_c„2 X

stehen. Beispiele für R1 und R2 sind Methyl, Isobutyl, Hexyl, für R1 und R2 zusammen mit dem sie bindenden C-Atom Cyclo-hexyl, Cyclopentyl und 2,2,6,6-Tetramethylpiperidyl.
Die Reste R' und R4 entstammen den bei der Synthese der Verbindungen eingesetzten Aldehyden oder Ketonen. Sie können gleich oder verschieden sein. Reste R3 und R4 sind daher Wasserstoff oder Alkyl- oder Isoalkylreste mit 1 bis 30 C-Atomen oder auch gegebenenfalls durch Halogen, bevorzugt Chlor, oder einen Alkylrest mit 1 bis 4 C-Atomen substituierte Arylreste mit 6 oder 10 C-Atomen oder Aralkylreste mit 7 bis 10 C-Atomen, wobei die aliphatische Kette aus 1 bis 4 C-Atomen besteht.
Je nachdem, ob die Reste R3 und R4 einem Aldehyd oder einem Keton entstammen, ergeben sich für R3 und R4 bevorzugte Vertreter.
Wurde ein Aldehyd eingesetzt, so ist R3 zwangsläufig stets Wasserstoff, während R4 Wasserstoff, ein Alkylrest mit 1 bis 30, vorzugsweise 1 bis 18 und insbesondere 3 bis 12 C-Atomen sein kann, oder ein gegebenenfalls durch ein Halogenatom - bevorzugt Chlor - oder einem Alkylrest mit 1 bis 4 C-Atomen substituierter Arvlrest mit 6 oder 10 C-Atomen (Phenyl oder Naphthyl) oder ein Aralkylrest mit 7 bis 10 C-Atomen, wobei 1 bis 4 C-Atome zur aliphatischen Kette gehören, ist.
Wurden die neuen Verbindungen aus den 4-Hydroxy-4-carbamoylpiperidinen und Ketonen synthetisiert, so ist R3 bevorzugt eine Alkylgruppe mit 1 bis 30, vorzugsweise 1 bis 7 und insbesondere 1 bis 4 C-Atomen oder ein Aralkylrest mit 7 bis 10 C-Atomen, wobei die aliphatische Kette 1 bis4C-Atome besitzt. R4 ist in diesem Falle ein Alkylrest mit 1 bis 30, vorzugsweise 1 bis 17 und insbesondere 1 bis 10 C-Atomen oder ein gegebenenfalls durch ein Halogenatom - bevorzugt Chlor - oder einen Alkylrest mit 1 bis 4 C-Atomen substituierter Arvlrest mit 6 oder 10 C-Atomen oder ein Aralkylrest mit 7 bis 10 C-Atomen, wobei die aliphatische Kette aus 1 bis 4 C-Atomen besteht.
Unter den vorstehenden Gesichtspunkten zu benennende Beispiele für Reste R'1 sind Methvl, Äthvl, Propyl, iso-Propy 1,

H—X steht für Phosphorsäure, phosphorige Säure, eine aliphatische Sulfonsäure oder Phosphonsäure mit 1 bis 30, vor-35 zugsweise 1 bis 18 C-Atomen, eine gegebenenfalls alkylierte aromatische Sulfon- oder Phosphonsäure mit 6 bis 25, vorzugsweise 6 bis 18 C-Atomen, wobei 1 bis 3 Alkylgruppen mit 1 bis 16 C-Atomen vorhanden sein können. 55 Dass die Erfindung sowohl die freien Basen als auch die vorstehend angeführten Salze oder im Falle von mehrbasischen Säuren gegebenenfalls auch saure Salze der l-Oxa-3,8-diaza-spiro-[4,5]-decane betrifft, besagt in der allgemeinen Formel der Index «m», der demzufolge 0 oder 1 ist. Bei Verbindungen, in 60 denen die Gruppe^N-R^ nicht zur Salzbildung befähigt ist, ist «m» zwangsläufig 0.
Die 1 -Oxa-3,8-diaza-spiro-[4,5]-decane der Formel I verleihen organischen Polymermassen eine aussergewöhnliche Stabilität gegen Zersetzung durch die Einwirkung von Wärme und 65 insbesondere von ultravioletter Strahlung. Besonders wertvoll sind sie als Lichtstabilisatoren für Polyolefine. Die Farbeigenschaften der organischen Polymermassen werden durch die neuen Verbindungen nicht beeinträchtigt.

Unter organischen Polymermassen, die gegen den schädigenden Einfluss von Licht und Wärme geschützt werden sollen, werden Polyolefine, wie z. B. Polyisopren. Polybutadien, Polystyrol und insbesondere Polypropylen und Polyäthylen niedriger und hoher Dichte, ferner Äthylen-Propylen-Copolymere. Äthy-len-Buten-Copolymere, Äthylen-Vinylacetat-Copolymere, Sty-röl-Butadien-Copolymere, Acrylnitril-Styrol-Butadien-Copoly-mere verstanden. Die Begriffe Polyvinylchlorid und Polyvinyli-denchlorid sollen Homopolymere von Vinylchlorid und Vinyli-denchlorid, Copolymere von Vinylchlorid bzw. Vinylidenchlorid mit Vinylacetat oder anderen olefinischen ungesättigten Monomeren, Polyacetale, Polyester wie beispielsweise Polyäthylente-rephthalat, Polyamide wiez. B. Nylon-6, Nylon-6,6, Nylon-10, Polyurethane und Epoxyharze umfassen.
Die neuen Verbindungen können ferner zum Stabilisieren von tierischen und pflanzlichen Ölen und Fetten, wie beispielsweise Leinsamenöl, Erdnussöl, Rizinusöl, Fett, Schmalz und dergleichen, flüssigen und festen Kohlenwasserstoffen wie Benzin, Mineralöl, Wachs, Harzen und dergleichen verwendet werden.
Die Menge der den synthetischen Polymeren zuzusetzenden neuen Verbindungen kann in Abhängigkeit von der Art, den Eigenschaften und den speziellen Anwendungen des zu stabilisierenden organischen Polymeren erheblich schwanken. Im allgemeinen werden 0,01 bis 5 Gewichtsteile, vorzugsweise 0,05 bis 3 Gewichtsteile, insbesondere 0,1 bis 1,5 Gewichtsteile, bezogen auf die Menge des synthetischen Polymeren, eingesetzt. Es kann eine einzige Verbindung oder eine Mischung aus mehreren verwendet werden.
Die Verbindungen der Formel I können nach den üblichen Methoden in die organischen Polymeren eingearbeitet werden. So kann der Stabilisator als Pulver mit dem Polymeren vermischt oder eine Lösung, Suspension oder Emulsion des Stabilisators in eine Lösung, Suspension oder Emulsion des organischen Polymeren eingearbeitet werden.
Die Stabilisatoren sind für sich allein und auch im Gemisch mit üblichen Licht- und Wärmestabilisatoren auf der Basis von phenolischen, sulfidischen und phosphorhaltigen Antioxidantien wirksam.
Unter üblichen Stabilisatoren sindz. B. im einzelnen zu verstehen: 2,6-Di-tert.-butyl-p-kresol, 3,5-Di-tert.-butyl-4-hydroxyphenylpropionsäureester, Alkyliden-bis-alkylphenole, Thio-dipropionsäureester von Fettalkoholen sowie Dioctadecyl-sulfid und-disulfid. Als phosphorhaltige Verbindungen sind beispielsweise Trisnonyl-phenylphosphit, Distearylpentaerythri-tyldiphosphit, Ester des Pentaerythritphosphits u. a. zu nennen. Beispiele für UV-Absorber sind die Benzotriazolverbindungen, wie 2-(2,-hydroxy-5'-methylphenyl)-benzotriazole, für Quen-cher Piperidinstabilisatoren und Metallchelate.
Bei der Stabilisierung von oben beschriebenen chlorhaltigen Homo- und Copolymerisaten sowie chlorierten Polyolefinen, wie z.B. chloriertem Polyäthylen und Polypropylen, bringt ein Zusatz der neuen Stabilisatoren in Gegenwart von als Stabilisatoren bekannten Metallverbindungen, Epoxistabilisatoren, Phos-phiten und gegebenenfalls mehrwertigen Alkoholen ebenfalls eine Verbesserung der Wärme- und Lichtstabilität.
Unter als Stabilisatoren bekannten Metallverbindungen werden in diêsèm Zusammenhang Calcium-, Barium-, Strontium-, Zink-, Cadmium-, Magnesium-, Aluminium- und Bleiseifen aliphatischer Carbonsäuren oder Oxycarbonsäuren mit etwa 12 bis 32 C-Atömen, Salze der genannten Metalle mit aromatischen Carbonsäüren wie Benzoate oder Salizylate sowie ( Alkyl-)Phe-nolate dieser Metalle, ferner Organozinnverbindungen, wie z.B. Dialkvlzinnthioglykolate und Carboxylate verstanden.
Bekannte Epoxistabilisatoren sind z. B. epoxidierte höhere Fettsäuren wie epoxidiertes Sojabohnenöl.Tallöl, Leinöl oder epoxidiertes Butyloleat sowie Epoxide langkettiger ct-Olefine.
Als Phosphite sind Trisnonylphenylphosphit. Trislaurylphos-phit oder auch Ester des Pentaerythritphosphits zu nennen.
Mehrwertige Alkohole können beispielsweise Pentaerythrit. Trimethylolpropan,Sorbit oder Mannitsein.d. h. bevorzügt Alkohole mit 5 bis 6 C-Atomen und 3 bis 6 OH-Gruppen.
Eine wirksame Stabilisatorkombination für halogenfreie Poly-a-Olefine, wie z. B. Hoch-, Mittel- und Niederdruckpolymerisate von C2- bis C4-a-01efinen, insbesondere Polyäthylen und Polypropylen oder von Copolymerisaten derartiger a-Olefine besteht, bezogen auf 100 Gew.-Teile Polymer, beispielsweise aus 0,01 bis 5 Gewichtsteilen einer der erfindungsgemäss zu verwendenden Verbindungen, 0,05 bis 5 Gewichtsteilen eines phenolischen Stabilisators, gegebenenfalls 0,01 bis 5 Gewichtsteilen eines schwefelhaltigen Costabilisators, sowie gegebenenfalls 0,01 bis 3 Gewichtsteilen einer basischen oder neutralen Metallseife, wie z. B. Calciumstearat oder Zinkstearat, sowie gegebenenfalls 0,1 bis 5 Gewichtsteilen eines bekannten UV-Stabilisators aus der Gruppe der Alkoxyhydroxybenzophenone, Hydroxyphenyl-benztriazole, Salizylsäurephenolester, Benzoesäurehydroxyphe-nolester, Benzylidenmalonsäuremononitrilester, der sog. «Quencher» wie Nickelchelate oder Hexamethylphosphorsäure-triamid.
Eine Stabilisatorkombination für die Stabilisierung halogen-haltiger Polymerer besteht, bezogen auf 100 Gewichtsteile Polymer, beispielsweise aus 0,01 bis 10 Gewichtsteilen von als Stabilisatoren bekannten Metallverbindungen, 0,1 bis 10 Gewichtsteilen eines bekannten Epoxistabilisators, 0,05 bis 10 Gewichtsteilen eines Phosphits, 0,1 bis 10 Gewichtsteilen eines mehrwertigen Alkohols und 0,1 bis 5 Gewichtsteilen einer der erfindungsgemäss zu verwendenden Verbindungen.
Die folgenden Beispiele dienen der weiteren Erläuterung der Erfindung:
Beispiel 1
2-Iso-propyl-7,7,9,9-tetramethyl-l-oxa-3,8-diaza-4-oxo-spiro-[4,5]-decan
23,6g2,2,6,6-T etramethyl-4-hy droxy-4-carbamoylpiperidi-niumchlorid und 23 g Butyraldehyd werden in 100 g Eisessig vorgelegt. Dazu werden unter Rühren 19,6 g konzentrierte Schwefelsäure getropft, worauf 20 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur gerührt wird. Anschliessend wird im Vakuum eingeengt. Man nimmt mit wenig Äther/Aceton 1:1 auf und saugt den anfallenden Feststoff ab. Dieser- es ist das Sulfat der gewünschten Verbindung-wird in wenig Wasser gelöst. Mit Ammoniak wird die Base ausgefällt. Man saugt ab und kristallisiert aus Alkohol um. Weisse Kristalle vom Schmelzpunkt (Fp. ) 150 bis 151° C in nahezu quantitativer Ausbeute.

Wie in Beispiel 1 beschrieben, werden aus jeweils 23,6 g 2,2,6,6-Tetramethyl-4-hydroxy-4-carbamoylpiperidiniumchlo-rid und einer Reihe von Aldehyden die nachstehenden Verbindungen synthetisiert, die als weisse Kristalle anfallen. In den Tabellen 1 und 2 sind die Angaben zur Herstellung sowie die Analysendaten erfasst.

23.6 g 2.2,6,6-TetramethyI-4-hydroxy-4-carbamoylpiperidi-niumchlorid und 20 g Aceton werden in 100 g Eisessig vorgelegt. Dazu werden unter Rühren 19,6 g konzentrierte Schwefelsäure getropft, worauf 72 Stunden bei 40 bis 50°C gerührt wird (bei einer Reaktionstemperatur von 80°C verkürzte sich die Reaktionszeit auf 16 Stunden). Es bildet sich nach einiger Zeit eine klare Lösung, aus der dann im weiteren Reaktionsverlauf ein Niederschlag ausfällt, der nach dem Absaugen in etwas Wasser aufgenommen und mit Ammoniak oder 50% iger Natronlauge behandelt wird. Hierbei fällt die gewünschte Verbindung als weisser Niederschlag an, der sich nach dem Absaugen aus Äthanol Umkristallisieren lässt. Fp. 236 bis UTC.

Beispiele 16 bis 32 Wie in Beispiel 15 beschrieben, wurden aus jeweils 23,6 g 2,2,6,6-Tetramethyl-4-hydroxy-4-carbamoylpiperidiniumchIo-65 rid und einer Reihe von Ketonen nachstehende Verbindungen synthetisiert, die sämtliche als weisse Kristalle anfallen. In den Tabellen 3 und 4 sind die Angaben zur Herstellung und die Analysendaten erfasst.

2,7 g der Verbindung nach Beispiel 24 und 1,8 g p-tert.-Butylbenzoesäure werden mit 50 ml Äthanol 10 Minuten unter Rückfluss gekocht. Nach dem Erkalten saugt man die abgeschiedenen, weissen Kristalle ab und trocknet. Fp. 242 bis 245° C.

Dieses Beispiel zeigt die lichtstabilisierende Wirkung einiger der erfindungsgemässen Verbindungen beim Einsatz in einem Poly-a-Olefin.
100 Gewichtsteile Polypropylen mit einem Schmelzindex i? von ca. 6g/10min (bestimmt nach ASTMD 1238-62 T) und einer Dichte von 0,96 g/cm3 wurden mit 0,1 Gew.-Teilen eines Bis-(4'-hydroxy-3'-tert.-butylphenyol)-butansäureesters, 0,15 Gew.-Teilen Laurinthiodipropionsäureester, 0,2 Gew.-Teilen Cal-ciumstearat und 0,3 Gew.-Teilen des zu prüfenden, erfindungsgemässen Stabilisators vermischt und auf der Zweiwalze bei 200°C fünf Minuten lang homogenisiert. Die Kunststoffschmelze wurde sodann bei 200° C zu einer Platte von 1 mm Dicke gepresst. Aus der erkalteten Platte wurden Prüfkörper nach DIN 53455 ausgestanzt. Die als Vergleichsmuster benötigten Prüfkörper wurden analog, jedoch unter Fortlassen des zu testenden Stabilisators hergestellt.

Zur Bestimmung der Lichtstabilität wurden die Proben in einer Bewitterungs-Apparatur (RXenotest 150) der Firma Original Hanau Quarzlampen GmbH der Bestrahlung mit Wechsellicht unterworfen. Die Strahlungsintensität wurde durch 6IR-Fensterund 1 UV-Fenster (DIN53387) moduliert. Gemessen wurde die Belichtungszeit in Stunden, nach welcher die absolute Reissdehnung auf 10 % abgesunken war. Die Reissdehnung wurde auf einer Zugprüfmaschine der Firma Instron bei einer Abzugsgeschwindigkeit von 5 cm/min ermittelt.
Die Ergebnisse sind in der nachfolgenden Tabelle zusammengestellt:

2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man Verbindungen der Formel I herstellt, in denen R1 und R2 Methyl und m = 0 ist.

3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man Verbindungen der Formel I herstellt, in denen R3 Wasserstoff und R4iso-Propyl, Butyl, iso-Butyl, Pentyl, iso-Pentyl, Hexyl, Heptyl, iso-HeptyI,Nonyl, iso-Nonyl, Undecyl, Phenyl oder p-Chlorphenyl bedeutet.
4. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man Verbindungen der Formel I herstellt, in denen R3 eine Methylgruppe und R4 Äthyl, Propyl, iso-Propyl, Butyl, iso-Butyl, Pentyl, Hexyl oder Nonyl ist.
5. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man Verbindungen der Formel I herstellt, in denen R3 eine Äthyl- und R4 eine n-Pentylgruppe ist.
6. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man Verbindungen der Formel I herstellt, in denen R3 und R4 gleich sind und die Bedeutung von Methyl, Äthyl, Propyl, Butyl oder Benzyl haben.
7. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man Verbindungen der Formel I herstellt, in denen R3 und R4 zusammen mit dem sie verbindenden C-Atom die Bedeutung eines Cyclopentyl-, Cyclohexyl- oder Cyclododecylringes oder einer Gruppe der Formel

5 Es ist bekannt, dass die Eigenschaften organischer Polymerer durch die Einwirkung von Licht, insbesondere von Strahlung des nahen UV-Bereichs, beeinträchtigt werden. Neben farblichen Änderungen (Vergilben der Polymeren) kommt es zur Verschlechterung von physikalischen Eigenschaften, wie Abnahme io der Reissfestigkeit, Tendenz zur Versprödung usw.
Es wurde gefunden, dass die bisher nicht beschriebenen 7,7-Dimethyl-9,9-dialkyl-l-oxa-3,8-diaza-4-oxo-spiro-[4,5]-decane sowie - sofern sie zur Salzbildung fähig sind - auch ihre Salze sich hervorragend als Lichtstabilisatoren für organische Materialien 15 eignen.
