Claims

1. Device (1) for attaching a decorative element (3) to a substrate (4), for example a substrate of a timepiece or piece of jewelry, the device (1) comprising a base (2) on which said decorative element (3) is crimped, and a substrate (4) comprising a housing (8) in which said base (2) comprising said decorative element (3) is solidly fixed, the base (2) being made of a ductile material having sufficient ductility to crimp said decorative element (3), the substrate (4) being made of a non-ductile material unsuitable for crimping said decorative element (3).

2. Device (1) according to claim 1, wherein the ductile material is a metal or a metal alloy, for example brass, stainless steel, nickel silver, gold, titanium, palladium, platinum.

3. Device (1) according to one of the preceding claims, wherein the non-ductile material is chosen from carbon, sapphire, wood, plastic, polymers or elastomers such as rubber.

4. Device (1) according to one of the preceding claims, wherein the base (2) is for example a bezel (5), a sleeve, a pivot, a base, or any other base for crimping a decorative element ( 3), for example a precious stone.

5. Device (1) according to one of the preceding claims, wherein said decorative element (3) is for example a precious stone, in particular a diamond (6), a sapphire, ruby, emerald, a semi-precious stone.

6. Device (1) according to one of the preceding claims, wherein the base (2) comprises at least one protrusion (9) configured to be housed in a complementary groove (11) provided in the decorative element (3) to crimp the decorative element (3) on the base (2) with an invisible crimp.

7. Device (1) according to one of the preceding claims, wherein the substrate (4) is a portion of a timepiece or piece of jewelry.

8. Timepiece or piece of jewelery comprising a device (1) according to one of the preceding claims.

Method for attaching a decorative element (3) to a substrate (4), for example a substrate (4) of a timepiece or piece of jewelry, the method comprising – i) Crimping a decorative element (3) in a base (2), the base (2) being made of a ductile material having sufficient ductility to crimp said decorative element (3), – ii) Solidly fixing said base (2) comprising said decorative element (3) in a housing (8) provided in a substrate (4), the substrate (4) being made of a non-ductile material unsuitable for crimping said decorative element (3).

10. Method according to the preceding claim, wherein said base (2) is assembled integrally in the housing (8) of the substrate (4) for example by driving in, gluing, crimping, screwing, or any other method of fixing making it possible to secure the base (2) on the substrate (4).

11. Method according to one of claims 9 or 10, wherein the base (2) comprises at least one protrusion (9) configured to be housed in a complementary groove (11) provided in the decorative element (3) to crimp the decorative element (3) on the base (2) by invisible setting.
