Watch case back The invention relates to a further embodiment of the watch case back which is the subject of patent 346,174. In the case of de @ main patent, a watch case back was sold out as known, which is made from a sheet metal plate provided with toothed-like incisions by drawing, stamping and pressing, with the resilient tongues located between the edge incisions forming a cylindrical ring-shaped edge that has a smaller diameter than the Cover up to its outer edge, which has the cross-sectional shape of half a mushroom.
The resilient tongues of this known case base serve to hold it positively on the correspondingly profiled inner wall of the case middle part, with the watch case being sealed exclusively by the cattle lying on top of one another between case middle part and case base. A waterproof watch case could not be produced with such a bottom. The watch case back according to the main patent 346'174 is also held positively and positively by means of a snap lock on the middle part of the case, made from a plate by non-cutting shaping and its edge cross-section also shows approximately the shape of half a mushroom.
The invention according to the main patent 346,174 consists in the fact that the part of the housing bottom which extends radially outward from the inner edge of the raised cylindrical ring-shaped land forms a spring clip. In this case, the inwardly drawn leg of the spring clip-like randquerschmittes has on its entire length - also at the transition point to the elevated cylindrical ring-shaped edge @ - a distance required for the suspension from the inner surface of the actual housing bottom.
In doing so, it was possible to achieve a liquid-tight fit of the housing bottom on the housing middle part without the organic sealing material used for this interfering with the outside of the housing, the inwardly drawn leg of the spring clip-like edge cross-section of the housing bottom with an or for receiving a sealing ring , the like. Serving arches open at the top, the displaced part of the sealing ring cross-section being able to give way into an annular space between the outside of the housing bottom edge and the inside of the middle part of the housing.
In the further embodiment of the watch case back according to the additional invention, the starting point is a watch case back made by non-cutting deformation of a plate, the edge cross-section of which shows approximately the outline of a half mushroom, the part of the case back extending radially outward from the inner edge of the raised edge forms a spring clip and the inwardly drawn ring part of the spring clip forms a space which is open at the top and serves to receive a sealing ring.
The additional invention is characterized in that the superimposed parts of the edge cross-section corresponding to the outline of a half mushroom and the raised edge on its inner wall is formed from a ring part that is reduced in thickness compared to the middle part of the watch case back,
The sealing space is formed by the part located on both sides of the bending point between the inwardly directed part of the edge cross-section and the upright snap-in edge and the parts are directed obliquely outward and upward in such a way that they form an annular space that narrows downward and inward in the shape of a wedge, the whole thing in such a way that when the case bottom is placed on the watch case ring, it enters the opening of the annular space,
that it closes the same and the cross-section of the sealing ring of the approximate triangular shape of the cross-section of the annulus is deformed against its internal stress.
Due to the thinner design of the outer part, which forms the closure of the case back, compared to its middle part, all parts are better adapted to their respective task, the middle bottom part can be held strong and is thus better protected against impressions and thus the clockwork, the outer parts are preserved a more elastic suspension due to the thinner design.
Since the lower, outwardly directed edge part immediately adjoining the central base part is thinner, it also takes part in the suspension, so that overall an S-shaped, more elastic snap-in edge is formed.
The uppermost sauna, which is now outwardly inclined, allows the uppermost sauna to be easily slid over the bead of the case and thus allows the watch case back to be opened and closed easily. As a result of the thinner shape of the edge parts, they also have a greater spring stiffness, so that they close strongly despite the greater elasticity.
In the wedge-shaped, roughly triangular annular space cross-section due to the placement of the case bottom on the watch case ring and the corresponding displacement of the cross-section of the sealing ring, an extremely effective seal is achieved on all sides of the sealing space due to the elastic counteraction of the sealing ring, with tolerances of the sealing ring being at the angles of the cross-section st of the sealing ring space can automatically compensate.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in two figures, which show: Fig. 1 the watch case back in a locking arrangement in radial section,
Fig. 2 the same with the sealing ring still unstressed, also in radial section.
On the pre-work piece of the housing base, which is initially circular-shaped by punching and has the same sheet metal thickness everywhere, an outer part, which is ring-shaped compared to the middle part 1, is reduced in its sheet metal thickness by pressing, embossing, pressing or similar processing and is designed into bursting and sealing parts (Fig . 1 and 2).
The outwardly extending, thin, rising edge part 2 adjoining the middle base part 1 and the inwardly extending edge part 3 bent from its outer circumference together form the base edge cross-section in the form of a half mushroom with a cavity 7. The edge part 3 has an outer, flat ring part 3 'and a slightly sloping ring part 3 "' adjoining it with a charcoal 3".
From the inner circumference of the latter, the snap-in edge 5 rises first with a vertical part 5 'and then with a part 5 "which is inclined obliquely outward, the upper hem part 5"' of which is pressed round outwards.
The two inclined edge parts 3 and 5 ″ together form an annular space 4, which narrows towards the vertical edge part 5 'and is initially open to the outside, for receiving a sealing ring 16 with a circular cross-section in the unstressed state, a so-called O'Ring, serves (Fig. 2).
On the lower part of the inner circumference of the watch housing ring 13 there is an inwardly projecting annular bead 15 of semicircular cross section.
If the watch case base together with the sealing ring 16 clamped into the annular space 4 is placed on the watch case ring 13 from below, the snap-in rim 5 slides with its upper sauna 5 ", which is pressed around outward, over the round annular bead 15 and engages resiliently over the same to the outside As a result, the housing base is fastened to the housing ring 13. In doing so, it rests with the flat edge part 3 ′ against the flat, anterior ring surface 13 ′ of the watch housing ring 13.
During this blasting process, the two edge parts 2 and 3 can yield elastically to each other in height by virtue of the annular gap 7 existing between them up to the abutment and the spring-in edge 3 in width. As a result, and because of the round shape of the house 5 "'of the snap-in edge 5 and the inner annular bead 15 of the housing ring 13, the bottom of the housing can be easily sprung in and out, but on the other hand, when parts 2 and 3 are placed, there is also resistance to further yielding.
After the bottom of the watch case has been blown in, the 'inner ring bead 15 of the case ring 13 enters the ring channel 4 with its peripheral part opposite the opening of the ring channel 4 and closes the same. This causes the sealing ring 16 to be positioned between the wedge-shaped edge parts 3 "' and 5" of the ring channel 4 'is pressed into its narrowing depth and takes on the now approximately triangular cross-sectional shape of the closed annular space 4 with elastic resistance.
due to its elastic reaction on the parts 3 "', 5', 5" and 13 which surround it, a particularly strong seal is achieved with the same.
