Description
Device allowing additional air intake in combustion engines. The subject of the present invention is a device allowing additional admission of air into explosion engines.
The appended drawing gives, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the present invention, assumed to be suitable for a four-cylinder motor car engine.
Fig. 1 is a side view of the engine to which the device is fitted; Fig. 2 is a section on a larger scale, taken along line A-B of FIG. 1; Fig. 3 is a section on the same scale as that given in FIG. 2, but along a plane perpendicular to this section, that is to say along the line C-D of this figure; Fig. 4 is a detailed view of the positive admission adjustment device, shown in longitudinal section.
In the supply line a of the internal combustion engine b is provided an opening c arranged near the inlet valves d, d ', d ", d". This opening is connected on the outside by a duct e, the opening of which is provided with an adjustment device constituted by a cylinder f, provided with side openings, g, and in which can be moved under the action of a cable a piston i, urged by a spring j to occupy a position such that it obstructs the openings g.
Additional admission; instead of being carried out by a single opening r. could, for example, for a second form of execution be carried out through two openings, arranged in c 'and c ", or in a manner even closer to the inlet valves d, d ', d ", d"'. In this case, these openings could be connected by two conduits which would meet with a single adjustment device, or by two conduits, provided cliacuu of an adjusting device ,
and these control devices could be controlled osi #D simultaneously. The adjustment device, instead of being controlled by hand, could possibly be operated automatically.
The additional admission of air into an engine makes it possible to prevent the condensation of gases in the supply line to the latter, to regulate the carburation, and to have a direct call for air for filling the engine (s). cylinders when the engine is operating as a braking means for a vehicle, a: automobile.
