Description

Elastic suspension for cycles and motorcycles. The object of the present invention is to provide an elastic suspension for cycles and motorcycles, allowing the damping of shocks and jolts due to uneven ground.

The accompanying drawings. given by way of demonstration, represent an example of application of the invention.

On an ordinary frame a, the rigid fork which connects the crankset to the rear means is replaced by a fork consisting of two flat springs b slightly curved. The handle of this fork is fixed to the crankset and the ends of the branches, scalloped, are crossed by the axis of the rear wheel and carry the chain tensioners.

Another leaf spring c, fitted near the upper end of an eyelet, is fixed against the saddle tube g, as shown in the drawing. It should be noted that it can be placed in front or behind this tube; in the latter case it is curved.

A fur e provided with an oblique arm f maintains the blade c against the tube g and serves as a buttress for the elastic fork b. The two rigid tubes h connect the ends of the branches of the fork b to the eyelet of the spring c. their connection with the blade c can consist of an axis d. which passes through said #illet and whose ends pass through openings of the two rigid tubes h. By way of indication, said pin may have a median cylindrical part and at its ends two threaded parts of smaller diameters which carry nuts.

Between the eyelet and each of the nuts fully screwed in, the spans of the ends of the tubes h. The operation is as follows: Under the weight of the rider, the fork b flexes and the rigid tubes h transmit the thrust to the spring c.

There is therefore indeed vertical elasticity of the frame and it is. this elasticity. which absorbs shocks.

CLAIM An elastic suspension for cycles and motorcycles, allowing shock absorption and shocks due to unevenness of the ground, comprising two rigid tubes, the lower ends of which rest on an elastic fork, at the height of the rear hub, and whose upper ends are articulated on an elastic metal blade fixed against the saddle support tube, this blade being held in its position by a sleeve provided with an oblique iras, which serves as a buttress for the flexible fork.
