Description

  obturateur     constitué    par un  pointeau conique i à longue tige dont. l'ex  trémité supérieure est assujettie à une  gaine 1. Celle-ci peut     tourner    et coulisser  librement sur le manchon fixe 40     visé        dans     la face supérieure du bras     g,    ayant un dia  mètre intérieur notablement plus grand que  le     diamètre    extérieur du gicleur la et.     q;

L'intérieur du man chon 40 communique donc constamment.

  Une fois. le démarrage effectué, on     aban-          cionne    le levier 21 à l'action du ressort 41  et le bras     lü    revient à sa position normale  de     contact:    avec le couteau     141.    Dès lors en       manoeuvrant    le- bras in, on fait, tourner et  coulisser les pièces<B>il</B> et ce bras.     1ü;

      la section de la chambre de mélange j et la section libre de l'orifice hl varient suivant. une loi qui est, donnée, d'une façon générale par la forme (le la surface h du bras 12 et la posi tion verticale du couteau 141. Cette loi est cependant modifiée par le fait. suivant dé pendant de l'ouverture plus ou moins grande des pièces i': Quand ces dernières sont à.

    leur position de rapprochement maximum ou sont proches voisines de celle-ci, la sec tion du canal supérieur j3 est petite par rap port, à celle de la section de la chambre de mélange j au haut de la gaine L: la. dépres sion faite au-dessus de<B>il</B> est par suite beau coup plus faible que celle produite au liant <B>(le</B> la chambre j; au fur et à mesure qu'on ouvre- les pièces il la. différence des sections entre le canal<B>il</B> et. la chambre de mélange diminue et devient finalement pratiquement relativement négligeable; en conséquence la. différence des dépressions entre<B>il</B> et j di minue et finit. par devenir insensible.

  Carburetor for internal combustion engines>. The object of the present invention is a carburetor for explosive engines.

  We know that, when an explosive engine is suddenly given a power greater than that which it provided previously, it is necessary to send into it for a few moments a combustible mixture richer than what is required. would correspond to the new power that it must give, in order to facilitate and make it safer to switch from one power to another.

  Many known carburettors are arranged for the momentary supply of this richer fuel mixture in what is generally called. (the steps taken.

  The carburetor according to the invention has for this purpose a new arrangement compared to those mentioned above and making it possible to achieve the same goal.

  It comprises, like other known carburettors, a mixing chamber of variable cross section limited by moving parts. relative to each other, as well as a flooded nozzle placed at the bottom of a well and. controlled by an adjustment member so that it is also possible to vary its free section.

   But it differs from all the carburettors indicated above in that the above parts are arranged so as to decrease in relation to the vacuum produced. by the suction of the motor, the de-pressure acting at the top of the well and this all the more so as the free section of the chamber (the mixture is smaller, as well as in that an auxiliary well communicates that, of on the one hand, with the atmosphere, on the other hand, with the first well, is filled with liquid fuel, when the powered engine runs for a certain time without:

   abrupt increase in power, and emptied at least partially when the engine is rapidly changed from a given power to a significantly higher power by rapidly increasing the cross-section of the mixing chamber and thereby making it act briskly a substantially greater depression than previously. on top. chi first well.

  The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the carburetor. fJ: ï fig. 1 is. an axial vertical section; Fig. ? is a detailed perspective view; , Fig. 3 is one. transverse section, partial vertical along line A-A of the fiz. 1.

  This embodiment comprises a vertical annular sheath has come from fabrication with a constant level reservoir. The groin a is closed at its lower part by a bottom a forming, body with it, at its, upper part by a bottom b3 provided with a pipe b and a flange b3 intended for its. connection to the suction line, not shown, of the powered motor; the bottom b3 is held in place by a threaded ring 10.

         On the bottom a ', which has a circular central opening a2, rests a disc <I> the' </I> in which. a central opening 1j2 is also provided for the passage of air.

   On the disc are finally placed four piiii @ these syn ié4riques <B> il </B> mobile the one in relation to the other and enclosing it between them. mixing chamber j of square cross section, variable, clans which debuts a sleeve 40, extending the nozzle h.

   The variation of this cross section is obtained by moving. simultaneously. the four pieces <B> il </B> while maintaining them in conta, t: they present. each. to this end, a longitudinal slide occupying their entire height and giving a good pitch, to a vertical pin 50 integral with the bottom%, as well as a low-height longitudinal slide receiving a transverse projection. -v ersale <B> il </B> from a <B> il </B> wafer to the neighboring <B> il </B> piece.

       This plate j5 is provided with a lower pin housed in a bean-shaped slide 7z9 of the disc fi. If we rotate this by means of a control arm n2., Passing through a lateral opening of the <U> sheath </U> a, we force the parts <B> il </B> to move all together and. the ones with respect to the j: others so as to increase or decrease the cross section of the chamber j.

   The stroke of the arm m in a sc-ns is. limited by an adjustable stop consisting of a nal screw. The nozzle h, vertical and short, is aimed in a lateral arm g of the tank (1 and and connected inside the latter by a channel 91 leading to a chamber g = closed by a plug g '. Its upper orifice 1i1 which is well below the fuel level in d is controlled by an organ

  shutter consisting of a conical needle i with a long rod including. the upper end is secured to a sheath 1. This can rotate and slide freely on the fixed sleeve 40 referred to in the upper face of the arm g, having an interior diameter notably greater than the exterior diameter of the nozzle 1a and . q;

  ic that of the body of the needle i and a height such that its upper end is a little above the so-called fuel level in the tank d and the sheath 1 has large openings 11 for the passage of the fuel exiting through the nozzle h and rising in the sleeve 40. The sheath 1 is integral with an arm 12 having an inclined lower stirfaee F resting slip a knife 141 of an arm 14 due to its weight and: the action of a spring 19. If so we do.

    turn the sheath 1, it rises or falls, causing the body i and, causing the free section of the orifice hl to go. This rotational movement is produced by the. my work of the arm m, thanks to an ankle r, integral with the disc k, passing through a hole or a 'at the bottom & and clans a hole in the arm 1 =.

  The arm 141 rests on a threaded ring 142 resting on a threaded portion 40l of the sleeve 40 -and is prevented from rotating by a screw 49 passing through a notch that it presents. On the other hand, we can rotate the ring 1.4 = to raise it or lower it along the thread and subsequently modify it. knife position 141:

          a spring htitf @ e 51 capable of entering un- sizes 143 provided at. the. periphery of 1 12 allows to immobilize the latter at clivers #: s positions.

  The arm jq is provided with two flanges the terals g3 between which rotates a shaft 20 integral with a lever 21 on the right arm (fig. 1) which can be acted at will from left to right and whose left arm is in contact. with a vertical pusher 201. This, under the thrust, of the lever 21 can lift the arm L "and with it the needle <I> i </I> to release the orifice h 'when starting the said engine. which then gives a large flow, while the section of the chamber j is still small.

   This pusher constantly tends to be lowered by a spring. 11l, but its travel from top to bottom is limited by a pin 202. As the arm r passes through a notch in the arm 1ü it does not in any way interfere with the lifting of the latter.

  In the faces of the parts <B> il </B> which limit the chamber <I> j </I> are formed cavities j1 which when these parts are in their closest position, form a cylindrical-dro-conical hole arriving at a small distance <the upper face of these parts to which it is joined by a short channel j3 of square cross section.

  The part of the sleeve 40 which is screwed into the arm g has a cylindrical inner channel of slightly smaller diameter than that of the upper channel (the sleeve. In this small diameter channel penetrates the top of the nozzle h, the outside diameter of which penetrates. is very slightly smaller, by a fraction of, millimeter for example, than the diameter of the channel, so the interior of the sleeve 40 is in constant communication.

    with an annular chamber 43, formed between the sleeve, the nozzle and the wall of the cavity of the arm g where the two are screwed; room 43 is. in permanent connection with a channel 411 passing through the arm g and in the wall of the tank of the tank to open into the open air at 411 'well above the level of the fuel in this tank.

  In the tubing is. placed a thin cylindrical pipe 46, following the channel coming from the mixing chamber j when the latter is of small section; between the pipe 1l6 and the wall of the tubing, are arranged. curved plates 117. The operation of this form of execution is as follows: When the <B> ni </B> arm is in its extreme left position, the needle i completely closes the orifice hl, while the four pieces <I> j '</I> leave above the sheath 1 and the sleeve a small opening of square section and around this sleeve an annular space also of small section (fi, -, -. 1).

  For clémar @ rage. of the engine, we do not touch the arm nor and the parts it, but we act on the lever 21 from left to right; therefore the arm 1ü and with it the sheath 1 and the needle i are lifted by a large amount; the fuel flows into the interior of the sleeve 40 through the flooded nozzle ta; as a strong suction on the openings takes place as a result of the. small section of chamber j, a rich mixture forms which makes starting easier.

  Once. once the start-up has been carried out, the lever 21 is released from the action of the spring 41 and the arm lü returns to its normal position of contact: with the knife 141. Therefore, by maneuvering the arm in, one makes, turns and slides. the <B> he </B> parts and that arm. 1ü;

      the cross section of the mixing chamber j and the free cross section of the orifice h1 vary according to this. a law which is, in general, given by the shape (the surface h of the arm 12 and the vertical position of the knife 141. This law is however modified by the fact. less large of the parts i ': When the latter are at.

    their position of maximum approach or are close adjacent thereto, the section of the upper channel j3 is small compared to that of the section of the mixing chamber j at the top of the sheath L: la. depression made above <B> it </B> is therefore much lower than that produced by the binder <B> (the </B> chamber j; as we open- The difference in sections between the <B> il </B> channel and. the mixing chamber decreases and eventually becomes practically relatively negligible; as a result the difference in depressions between <B> il </B> and. It slows down and ends up becoming unresponsive.

   The fuel flow rate proportional to the pressure at the top of the sleeve 40, therefore increases in these conditions a little faster than would be given by the law generally determined by the shape of the surface P.

  When moving the arm. m quite proactively, the engine gradually increases power without needing, at any time, any additional fuel in addition to the amount which corresponds to its momentary power. However, it is not the same when we want. the liver pass with rapidity of a given power. to a: significantly higher power <I>. </I> It is then that the. provision for resumption of operation takes place.

       As soon as the needle i is opened, however little it may be, fuel enters the interior of the sleeve 40 where it rises almost to the level in the. tank d. Part of this fuel passes through the slight free space between the sleeve 40 and the nozzle h.,

          go to room 113 and_. rises in channel 44 to the fuel level in (l. The height of the fuel rions d and clans 40 remains substantially the same as long as the arm <I> does not </I> is slowly moved into the direction of opening or closing.

   If, on the other hand, the carburetor is suddenly opened to go from a given power to a notably power. the higher the motor, the pin 1 only releases the orifice hl by an amount corresponding to the new power to be supplied, but the suction on the fuel clam the sleeve 40 suddenly becomes greater as a result of the closed arrangement I: i @ = these j1 and quickly releases this fuel through the openings II faster than it arrives through the opening hl.

         As the inside of the sleeve communicates in a permanent way with the channel 4 =. the, fuel contained in it tends to!:, make the same level as in 40 owing to the difference in pressures, therefore ash and: goes into the sleeve 40, from which it comes out with that carefully. me suré crui escapes: e by 7a1. So we have- at the time of the. mîcche resumption, a fuel supply consisting of that located at 44, and possibly ceasing only when channel 44 is almost empty.

  Once the engine is running normally at its new rated power, fuel again descends into chamber 43 and fills channel 44, the device is thus ready. for a new take up.
