Description
Verfahren zur Darstellung eines wasserlöslichen Kondensationsproduktes. In dem Patent Nr. 65922 ist beschrieben, dass ein wasserlösliches Kondensationsprodukt von wertvollen Eigenschaften erhalten wird, wenn man das 8ulfierungsprodukt von Naph talin mit Formaldehyd unter milden Bedin gungen kondensiert.
Es wurde nun weiter gefunden, dass man auch dann ein wasserlösliches Produkt erhält, wenn man auf ein Gemisch von Naphtaliir-ss- sulfosäure und Naphtalin Formaldehyd ein wirken lässt. Um ausschliesslich oder doch ini wesentlichen ein wasserlösliches Produkt zu erhalten, darf die Menge des Naphtalins nicht zu hoch bemessen werden; die noch zulässige Höchstmenge ist durch Versuche leicht fest zustellen. Beispielsweise sei erwähnt, dass etwa 2 Moleküle Naphtalin auf 1 Molekül Naph- talinsulfosäure noch wasserliisliche Produkte ergeben.
Die Kondensation wird vorteilhaft in Gegenwart von Kondensationsmitteln, zum Beispiel von Schwefelsäure, ausgeführt.
Das neue Produkt fällt angesäuert Leim lösung und kann zum Gerben und anderen wichtigen Zwecken benutzt werden. Beispiel In 100 Teile 50 ",/o ige Schwefelsäure werden 33 Teile Naplitalin-i3-sulfosüure, 5 Teile Naphtalin und 10,5 Teile 30 0,'o iger Formaldehyd eingetragen. Die Suspension wird unter gutem Rühren etwa 6 Stunden bei 951) gehalten.
Nach dieser Zeit i.-t der (xeruch nach Formaldehyd verschwunden und das Produkt wasserlüslicli. Aus der alka lischen Lösung sind mit l@ther nur Spuren eines öligen Produktes isolierbar.
Process for the preparation of a water-soluble condensation product. Patent No. 65922 describes that a water-soluble condensation product of valuable properties is obtained when the sulfonation product of naphthalene is condensed with formaldehyde under mild conditions.
It has now also been found that a water-soluble product is obtained even if a mixture of naphthalene-ssulfonic acid and naphthalene-formaldehyde is allowed to act. In order to obtain exclusively or at least essentially a water-soluble product, the amount of naphthalene must not be too high; the maximum amount still permissible can easily be determined through tests. For example, it should be mentioned that about 2 molecules of naphthalene for 1 molecule of naphthalene sulfonic acid still give water-soluble products.
The condensation is advantageously carried out in the presence of condensing agents, for example sulfuric acid.
The new product falls acidified glue solution and can be used for tanning and other important purposes. EXAMPLE 33 parts of naplitalin-13-sulphonic acid, 5 parts of naphthalene and 10.5 parts of 30% formaldehyde are introduced into 100 parts of 50% sulfuric acid. The suspension is kept at 95% for about 6 hours with thorough stirring .
After this time the (odor of formaldehyde disappeared and the product was water-soluble. Only traces of an oily product can be isolated from the alkaline solution with ether.
