Description

Motor car with four-wheel drive. The invention relates to a motor vehicle of the type known per se, in which not only the rear wheels but also the front wheels are driven by the engine. Such motor vehicles have compared to the generally related motor vehicle with sole rear wheel drive different parts before, which are, among other things, in uniform driving force and prevention of sliding. Such motor vehicles are also suitable to drive uphill and use poorer roads, since the weight of the motor vehicle is distributed over four driven wheels.

The essence of the invention lies in such a design of a motor vehicle, which is characterized by great simplicity and functional reliability. It also has the advantage that any automobile with rear-wheel drive can easily be converted into one with rear-wheel and front-wheel drive according to the invention.

In my motor vehicle, the front wheels are driven according to the invention in particular by means of an easy-to-install auxiliary shaft that drives a transverse shaft lying above the front axle parallel to this, at both ends of which drive pinions are arranged with universal joints interposed Each position of the front wheels in teeth arranged on the axles of the front wheels - i - - engage.

Uni to be able to drive the front wheels at different speeds when steering the i ädei vehicle and especially when turning, as is expedient, either a differential gear can be provided in the cross shaft, or it can also be arranged between the gears sitting on the steering knuckles and the Front wheel clutches, such as overrunning clutches of such a kind interposed, that they allow different speeds of movement of the front wheels.

In the accompanying drawing, an example embodiment of a motor car naeli of the invention is shown as far as is necessary for the V erstfindnis.

Fig. 1 shows a partial side view of the motor vehicle, Fig. 2 is a front view on a larger scale, and Fig. 3 is a partial floor plan with GE pivoted front wheels; Fig. 4 shows a detail.

The motor vehicle shown has two front wheels a and two rear wheels, and the axle of the rear wheels is driven in a known manner from the main shaft d. On the main shaft d sits a gear f, which meshes with a gear box g, which sits on an auxiliary shaft i arranged parallel to the main shaft d in the carriage h. This auxiliary shaft i leads to a transverse shaft k, which is arranged above the front axle l. The shaft k is driven by a change gear in, n. The shaft has a double universal joint at each end, each of which carries a drive pinion q. The drive pinions q are mounted in steering knuckles r, the front wheels a, which steering knuckles around pin s, Fig. 2, the front axle l are rotatable.

The steering knuckles r carry gears t, which receive their drive from the gears q. The rotation of the gears t is transmitted to the front wheels a with the interposition of suitable locks or clutches u, which allow the two front wheels a to rotate at different speeds.

The pivoting of the front wheels takes place in a known manner from the hand drawer v. that sits on the control shaft w. As a result of the rotation of the control shaft w, a lever y is displaced by means of a short joint piece x, to which a second lever is articulated, which is connected at its other end to a stub axle r.

A rotation of the handwheel v results in a pivoting of the front wheels a with their axles about the pin s as shown in FIG. With such a pivoting of the front wheels a, the drive pinions q are taken along as shown in FIG. 3, since the double universal joint p, p, an inclined position of the drive pinion a to the shaft k readily allows. The drive of the front wheels a is therefore not affected by their inclination.

The drive of the front wheels a takes place both during forward gear and during reverse gear, since the direction of rotation of the auxiliary shaft i steadily depends on the direction of rotation of the main shaft d, the direction of rotation of which can be switched in a known manner. In the gezeich designated embodiment, a hand lever 1 arranged since Lich on the carriage frame is used, by rotating a sleeve 2 on the main shaft d is moved. A pair of gears 3, 4 seated on the main shaft d is carried along by the sleeve 2, and depending on whether the gear 3 or the gear 4 is driven, the shaft d rotates to the right or left.
