Bearing for journals, crank pins, eccentrics etc. The present invention relates to a bearing for journals, crankpins, excen tricals etc., in which the friction surface is formed by several separate blocks. According to the invention, these blocks are arranged in pairs on oscillating support members, the blocks of each pair being, when the support member is in the normal position, arranged symmetrically with respect to a plane passing through the axis d oscillation of the support member and by the axis of rotation of the rotating member in the bearing. These support members with the pairs of blocks which they carry can be mounted in an adjustable manner inside the shell of the pad.
Preferably the blocks and their support members have cross sections such that they can be obtained by means of long rolled bars by cutting them therein to the required length.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, several embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a vertical cross section of a bushing in the form of a support bearing; Fig. 2 a section along line 2-2 of FIG. 1; Figs. 3 and 4 are views, half in elevation and half in section, perpendicular to each other, of a pad forming an eccentric collar; Figs. 5 and 6 represent a bearing on a crank pin in the head of a connecting rod, FIG. 5 showing two half-sections along lines 5-5 and 51-51 of FIG. 6 which is a d decni-section of one end of the connecting rod.
The corresponding parts of the different embodiments are designated in the different figures by the same reference signs.
In the arrangement shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a and b denote the upper shell and the lower shell of the bearing, that is to say the cap and the body of the casing of the bearing. The journal c of the shaft d is arranged to rotate in contact with the inner surfaces of blocks e which are arranged in pairs, on support members f of which an outer projecting part fl allows them to oscillate slightly at the same time. 'inside the adjacent shell a or b, the blocks of each pair being, when the support member is in the normal position,
arranged sy metrically with respect to a plane passing through the axis of oscillation of the support member and through the axis of rotation of the journal c. At the rear of each projection f 1 is fixed with a removable rnanièrc by means of studs g, title piF_ce h. with rounded back hl able to oscillate on the corresponding shell of the bearing.
The blocks e are mounted in the seats of the support members f so as to be supported by their rounded enclosure el, in order to be able to see these elements oscillate to a small extent.
To allow adjustment of the position of the axis of the shaft d with respect to the bearing body air, one or more removable linings or shims i are interposed between each projection f 'and its corresponding oscillating part h. This arrangement is particularly advantageous for the shafts of steam turbines, the blades of which have a very small clearance or air gap at the "tip" or free end.
Fig. 2 shows at l an opening for the admission of oil to a hollow end or oil chamber i, and at li an outlet opening. Oil stops are indicated cri 7n.
Thrust pieces or stops ii fixed internally to the housing of the bearing by means of bolts o, are provided to constitute in combination with the support members f a complete crown and thus prevent the support members f from rotating or traveling around the axis of the journal c.
Support members each enclosing a pair of blocks e as described above, can be applied to vertical or inclined shafts, as well as to horizontal shafts. For a shaft bearing, it is preferable to use these support members, three in number; when the shaft is vertical, these support members can be equally spaced around the shaft, but for a horizontal shaft the best arrangement is to place two of these three support members in the lower semicircle of the bearing which carries normally charge.
In some cases, the upper half of the bearing may be an ordinary shell without blocks e or support members f.
Figs. 3 and 4 show a form of execution for a shaft p comprising uni ex centric p 'and a bush-collar formed of two parts qq' assembled by bolts r and containing the blocks e and the oscillating support members f ' for these.
The collar preferably covers the sides of the eccentric so that it retains the oil admitted through an inlet pipe. in an oil chamber t provided for this elfet.
In the arrangement shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, constituting a bearing for a crank pin a in combination with connecting rod tip v, chamber tip ii, for the oil admitted through the pipe @r, small to be formed as shown, by increasing the diameter of the crank pin v . as indicated cry e are again the blocks with a friction surface and f denote the oscillating support members which support them in pairs.
It will be appreciated that in each of the various arrangements shown, the blocks e and the support members f have cross sections such that they can easily be obtained by means of long rolled bars by cutting them therefrom. required length.
