Description

Process for the manufacture of footwear. It is known to manufacture footwear by gluing the upper part together with the sole using a water-insoluble adhesive, the connection being achieved by pressing the points to be united together in a press or the like.

The invention aims to carry out the Kle ben various workpiece parts without using a press to, by being made together with another type of connection, for example with nails, staples, screws or sewing of the parts to be connected. In this type of production, the mechanical connecting means are attached simultaneously with the execution of the gluing, which keep the two parts pressed together and thereby cause the union of the adhesive layers ver when they dry out.

The new process is suitable for all types of footwear, for example for the manufacture of military boots, which have to meet certain requirements in terms of their design.

The accompanying drawing shows how the method can be carried out for military footwear.

After the upper leather of a shoe has been pinched and bound in the usual way, as illustrated in FIG. 1, the overlapping edge is made completely or partially receptive to the adhesive by loosening or roughening the leather in any way, such as at AB (Fig. 1) is indicated. The adhesive, for example celluloid solution, is then applied to the stolen areas in a known manner, as illustrated by the point B-C.

After the glue on the edge has dried, the sole, which is also provided with glue in the appropriate places, is loosely tacked on by means of a few pins in the correct position and fastened by hammering in the inner row of nails. Then a solvent is introduced to dissolve the surfaces of the adhesive layers lying on top of one another between the upper leather and the sole.

This is expediently done with the aid of a narrow mouthpiece D inserted between these parts (FIG. 2) through which the solvent is injected, whereupon the second outer row of nails is immediately hammered in. As a result, the upper part and the sole are pressed firmly together and the parts that have been leveled with adhesive are joined together without an external pressure having to be exerted on the sole during the entire drying process.

On the other hand, the adhesive creates a complete seal between the upper leather and the sole, which effectively prevents moisture from penetrating; Furthermore, the puncture points of the nails are also sealed by the adhesive and the adhesive also bonds to the wooden nails, which again increases the strength of the connection. Nailing can be done by hand or using any suitable machine.

If only one row of nails is used, the solvent is applied after the sole has been tacked onto the last, whereupon the nails are immediately hammered into a row at a certain distance from the edge.

Gluing can also be combined with other connection methods, for example through sewing, staples or screws, whereby the connection means, similar to that described above, can be used in one or more rows. In all cases, the auxiliary connection can also be applied immediately after the adhesive has been applied, that is to say before the adhesive has completely dried, so that: little or no solvent is used. The adhesive can be inserted between the sole and the edge of the upper leather after the sole has been tacked on.

The task, which is solved with the new method, consists in the production of glued footwear without the use of seizing or other precautions that keep the parts to be connected constantly pressed against one another while the adhesive is setting or drying. Much more this is effected by the additional connec tion means. Even if these white direct fasteners may contribute to increasing the strength of the connection, their main task and effect is to press the leather parts together.

This becomes particularly clear from the following observation: If finished glued footwear were subsequently sewn or nailed, it would no longer have the advantage of waterproofing, which is inherent in glued footwear, because of the piercing of the sole. If, however, the sole is already nailed on during the gluing process, for example, the still moist adhesive penetrates the nail holes, closes them and connects firmly to the nails, so that the injury to the sole is immediately reversed and the shoe is waterproof fails.

Since pressing devices are not required during the drying of the adhesive, the connection can be completed with the machines that have always been used in shoe manufacture. This means that work is made easier and faster, and that the process can be used without significant costs for setting up new operations. The new process can be carried out with advantage both by handwork and by machine work and even when mending soles hc @ natz <<n.

May! With the help of this process, any workpiece parts made of leather, but also leather can be combined with other materials, for example felt, fabric, cardboard, and in this way produce various types of footwear.
