Device for keeping open a window, door etc. The object of the invention is a device for keeping open a window, a door etc. This device comprises a stopper pivotally mounted, subjected to the action of a spring and arranged so that when the window is opened. respectively the door etc., it stumbles while passing against an arm of the stopper, turns the latter, against its spring, to bring it into a position such as to prevent the window, door etc. to close inadvertently.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
In fig. 1, this embodiment is shown in front elevation. when the stopper is going to be operated by a window which opens; Fig. 2 shows the side elevation. partially in section; Fig. 3 is a schematic view of the whole, on a smaller scale.
In fig. 3, 1 designates the window whose pivot is in 2. The closed position of the. window, designated by 1 ', is drawn in phantom lines. The device shown for keeping the window open comprises a yoke 0, the upper part of which has a drilled head 4 (the sky holes 5 allowing (the fixing of the yoke permanently, above the window, using (the screws. Between the two branches Lie the yoke is mounted,
on a horizontal pivot, the stopper 6 which forms a sort of turnstile with two arms. 6 '. 6 ". Arranged at right angles. This part 6 has two plane faces i, i ', perpendicular to each other and respectively parallel to the arms 6', 6". Between the branches of the yoke is also disposed a stud S which supports, by a flat surface, and under the action of a coil spring 9 surrounding, the. clevis 3, on the plane face T of the retainer 6. The stud.
â therefore tends to maintain the stopper 6 in the position shown in solid lines in FIG. 1. ruais it allows the latter to turn a quarter of a turn in the direction indicated by the fiècl-ies at the end. 1, if a certain force is exerted in the required direction on one of the arms of the retainer. This effort is necessary to overmold the antagonistic action of the spring 9.
Arrived in the second position, shown in phantom in fig. 1, the stopper is non-calf maintained in its acquired position, by the stud 8 and under the action of the spring 9. The positive device as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, is fixed permanently, above the window, as shown in fig. 3, so that when the latter is opened, it stumbles against the arm 6 "and causes the stopper 4 to pivot a quarter of a turn 4 for this purpose, the window 7 carries a stopper 10.
The stopper therefore occupies the position drawn in phantom in fig. 7, so that its arm 6 'keeps the window open, as shown in FIG. 3. To close the window, it is necessary to exert a force on it in order to rotate the stopper 6 in the opposite direction than previously.
When the window opens suddenly, for example, by the action of a gust of wind, the stop 6 serves as a shock absorber.
The device could be constructed and arranged otherwise than described with reference to the example shown.
