Description

   Les interstices filtrants existant entre la paroi cylindrique du cylindre 1 et les can  nelures    du disque   7 et    la collerette 5 jointive sont réglables En effet, lorsque les cannelures du disque 7 et celles de la collerette   5    jointive coïncident les unes avec les autres, la section transversale des interstices livrant passage au   liquide à nitrer ;

  Oil filter.

The object of the invention is a gasoline filter which oifre the particularity that the sec-
transverse tisjn of at least part of the
interstices exist between. the filter elements can be adjusted by the relative displacement of at least one of said elements.

The attached drawing shows, as an example, an embodiment of the object of
 invention.

Fig. 1 is an elevation view with part in section:
The a fig. 2 shows, on a larger scale. in partial cross section, the elements forming the filter openings:
The ng. : 3 represents, in partial section, and in larger size, a detail of the preceding figure.

The filter shown in the drawing is intended in particular for filtering gasoline used as fuel in explosion engines. It is assumed to be interposed in the supply pipe of the carburetor, upstream of the latter. The filter comprises a hollow cylinder 1 communicating, by a pipe 3, avee the gasoline tank and, by a tubulllle 2 avee the carburetor. The
benzine Ó filter arrives through tubing 3,
passes into cylinder 1 ō it is filtered,
and is listened to through tubing 2.

   The device
titration unit comprises a member 4 fitted in the body 1 and having, its upper part, three cylindrical flanges 5. The
peripheral face of these flanges touches the cylindrical wall dn body 1 and has
A grooves 6 arranged along the generators of the cylindrical body 1. On the collar t; the uppermost of the member 4 rests a disc 7 assembled with the latter by means of a nut 8 and the peripheral face of which is grooved exactly like the flanges 5. On the nut 8 rests a setting screw 10 which maintains the 'member 4 in cylinder 1.

When the liquid to be filtered enters the interior of the hollow cylinder 1, it must pass through the interstices existing between the grooves of the flanges 5 of the disc 7 and the wall of the cylindrical body 1. in order to reach the outlet pipe 2.

During this passage, the filtering of the liquid takes place and the resulting residues are deposited in the interior part. 1 '; of the hollow cylinder 1. This part 1 'has, at its base, a drain opening which is closed by a valve 9.

   The filtering interstices existing between the cylindrical wall of cylinder 1 and the grooves of the disc 7 and the contiguous flange 5 are adjustable In fact, when the splines of the disc 7 and those of the contiguous flange 5 coincide with each other, the transverse of the interstices giving passage to the liquid to be nitrated;

is maximum (fig. 2). But if the disc 7 is turned a little, there is an offset of the grooves of the disc relative to the grooves of the contiguous collar, so that the cross section of the illtrating interstices decreases, as shown, on a larger scale. in fig. 3. By this means, or can adjust the filter so that the filter gaps are as small as possible. The collar could also be mobile.

In the example shown in the drawing, it is necessary to remove the nitre in order to be able to adjust the filtering interstices, but it would also be possible to design a filter, in accordance with the invention; which would include means for controlling the disc 7 from outside the filter. The filtering interstices could be formed by elements other than those described with reference to the example shown in the drawing; for example, provision could be made for two tubular members nested one inside the other and having, respectively, filtering interstices the adjustment of which would be obtained by the axial relative displacement of said tubular members.
