Description

  La     fig.    1. est     une    coupe verticale et longi  tudinale     faite    par l'axe d'un moteur agencé  avec des soupapes     d'admission    et     cl'écbappe-          ment;     La     fig.    2 est une coupe transversale faite  par les cylindres du moteur suivant la ligne       A-B    clé la     fig.    1;    La     fig.    3 est une coupe transversale faite  par le carter du moteur suivant la ligne     C-D     de la.     fi,g.    1;

    La fig. 4 est une vue de bout, la cou ronne 27 fig. 1, supposée enlevée; La fig. 5 est une-vùe de face montrant la disposition des conduits d'admission et d'échappement en avant des soupapes; La fig. 6 est un fragment de coupe longi tudinale montrant l'agencement d'un dispo sitif d'admission et d'échappement d'un mo teur sans soupape; La fig. 7 est une coupe transversale faite suivant la ligne G-H de la fig. 6.

  Rotary engine with explosion. The present invention relates to a rotary motor with pistons moving inside a torus.

  According to the invention, the torus is subdivided into several independent compartments by: partitions and directly transmits its movement. of rotation to the motor shaft, while the pistons are coupled in pairs and are put in key relation in such a way with the torus and a fixed member, that they perform a forced back and forth movement in the respective compartments of the torus in order to cause the aspiration and compression of the. charge and, after expansion, the expulsion of the burnt gases.

  In the drawing two embodiments of the object of the invention are shown, by way of example.

  Fig. 1. is a vertical and longitudinal section taken through the axis of an engine arranged with intake and exhaust valves; Fig. 2 is a cross section taken through the cylinders of the engine taken along line A-B key in FIG. 1; Fig. 3 is a cross section taken through the motor housing along line C-D of the. fi, g. 1;

    Fig. 4 is an end view, the neck 27 fig. 1, supposedly removed; Fig. 5 is a front view showing the arrangement of the intake and exhaust ducts in front of the valves; Fig. 6 is a fragmentary longitudinal section showing the arrangement of an intake and exhaust device of an engine without a valve; Fig. 7 is a cross section taken along the line G-H of FIG. 6.

  The rotary internal combustion engine shown in fig. 1 to 5 has a mobile part formed by a hollow torus 1 separated into four equal parts by fixed funds or partitions 2 (fig. 1 and 2); it forms four cylinders each fitted with an orifice 3 for admission and exhaust. In these cylinders can move pistons 4, including the rods or curved arms 5 and 6, which connect them in pairs, not felt in slots reserved over part of the length of the cylinders of the torus 1.

   The rod 5-5 is formed with a means 7 for its attachment to a hollow shaft 8; for its part, the rod 6-6 is formed with a hub 9 for its attachment to a hollow shaft 10.

  On the torus 1 are bolted: on one side, a plate 11 having, in its center, a shaft 12 serving as a motor shaft; and, on the other side, a plate 13 formed with a casing or casing 14, part of which can be added from the point of view of disassembly.

   The housing 14, driven by the torus 1, rotates on a shaft 1 5 securely fixed to a part 15 'of the frame not shown of the motor (Fig. 1), and provided, inside the housing, with a wheel d. 'gear 15 "which, therefore, occupies an absolutely immutable position; the fixed shaft 15 is in line with the motor shaft 12.

  This gear wheel 15 "is engaged with two pinions 16 and 17 respectively integral with two crankshafts 18 and 19 (fig. 1 and 3) whose journals rotate in ball boxes fixed to the housing 14 of such that said crankshafts and their pinions are driven around the fixed 15 "gear wheel. On the other hand, the crankshafts 18 and 19 are connected by (the connecting rods 20 and 21 with two cranks 22 and 23 respectively secured to the shafts 8 and 10 carrying the arms 5-5 and 6-6 (the pistons 4.

  The slots or orifices 3, for the intake and the exhaust, communicate with (the valve boxes 24 (fig. 1 and 4) each provided with a valve and a spark plug; these valve boxes are connected by a crown 25 having openings 26, corresponding to said boxes. On this crown 25 is disposed, with gentle friction, a counter-crown 27 (fig. 1 and 5) comprising slots 28 and 29 in communication with (the conduits 30 and 31 clean one for the admission (read engine gas, the other to the exhaust; burnt gases.

  This counter-crown 27 is fixed to the frame (not shown) of the motor and the central hub 32 which it has is freely traversed by the motor shaft 12. This hub 32 comprises a bush 33, a part of which 34, from the inner end, is extended to serve as a cam intended to act on the valves by means of levers 35 (fig. 4), articulated on lugs belonging to the crown 25. The bush 33 can be turned so as to go against the valve attack moment.

  The motor thus formed operates as follows: If it is assumed that the motor is rotating in the direction indicated by, fig. 2 and that an explosion occurs in a detonating mixture previously compressed in the Z cylinder (fig. 2), the expansion force. gas will tend to. push back wall 2 and piston 4 of this cylinder in the opposite direction.

   The torus cylinders 1 rotating in the direction of the arrow and itself causing, in its rotational movement, the motor shaft 12 as well as the casing 14, the piston 4 will be able to move in the cylinder, expected due as a result of the rotation of the crankcase 1.4 and, consequently, of the rotation of the pinion 17, meshing with 15 ", and of the crankshaft 19, a relative movement can occur between the journals of the crank crank, respectively the crankcase 14, and the crank 23 connected to the crankshaft 19 by the connecting rod 21 and carried by the shaft 10 which also carries the piston 4.

  During this time, the pinion 16, also engaged with the gear wheel 15 "and dragged by the housing 14, will be forced to turn 0. by operating, through the intermediary of the crank 22 which, by the 'hollow shaft 8 of which it is integral, will push back the pistons 1 linked by the arms 5 and located in the cylinders X and Y, expelling the burnt gases from the second and compressing the fresh gases from the first. The V cylinder, including the piston is linked by arms 6-6 to that of cylinder Z, is then at the aspiration time.

  The valves, serving both the intake and the exhaust, are energetically cooled by the arrival of fresh gases. The arrangement of the engine still provides this. advantage that the valves that it comprises are simply controlled by their passage over the fixed cam 34, the angular position of the latter being able to be modified at will to produce the advance or the delay on the exhaust. Although the engine described has valves, it should be understood that it is possible to set up the engine without a valve. Such an embodiment is shown in FIGS. 6 and 7.

  In this variant, the intake and exhaust device is constituted by an annular chamber 36, slightly shaped. conical threaded onto the motor shaft 12 and which is. partitioned so as to form two independent compartments 37 and 38, pierced with suitable orifices at their periphery. On this chamber is adjusted, with gentle friction. a cylinder or plug 39 provided with tubes 40, respectively leading to the intake and exhaust ports 3, of the engine cylinders and on which the tubes are arranged for the spark plugs.

  The bushel 39 is thereby made solid clear of the torus-cylinders and rotates with it; it therefore turns on the .chambre 36, playing the role of distributor member, and puts the compartments of this gold.-ane successively in communication with the engine cylinders. On the other hand, these compartments have respectively pipes 41 and 42 connected, the first with a gas source and the. second with a pot. exhaust. It will be noted that the annular chamber 36 can move slightly on the motor shaft 12, which makes it possible to give the exhaust a vanre or delay at will.
