Dans ces figures,1 est un arbre moteur qui est actionnéà vitesse constante, par exemple, par le moteur d'une voiture auto mobile ou par toute autre source convenable d'énergie. Cet arbre1 commande un arbre intermédiaire 2à une vitesse réduite, par l'intermédiaire de rouesà chaîne3 et 4 et d'une chaîne5. Trois excentriquesà course variable6, par exemple du type décrit dans le brevet No. 97699 sont calés sur l'arbre 2;
 transmission mechanism with variable speed and direction of rotation. The object of the invention is a transmission mechanism with variable speed and direction of rotation, between a motor shaft and a driven shaft, comprising an intermediate shaft receiving a movement of rotation of the motor shaft and carrying eccentrics with variable stroke, the collar of each of these eccentrics actuating a device which transmits the movements by amplifying them-, to </ B > one of the elements of a freewheel clutch, the other element of which is carried by a common shaft that a clutch makes it possible to couple to the driven shaft , at will, knows directly,
either by means of a reversing device intended to reverse the direction of rotation of the driven shaft, said clutch also making it possible to couple the motor shaft directly to < / B> the driven shaft, The accompanying drawing represents one embodiment of the object of the invention, given to by way of example.
Fiü-. 1 is a schematic overview ZD wheat of the mechanism with partial cuts; Fig. 2 is a side elevation with section of the eccentric to variable eccentricity, according to A-A of fig. 1.
In these figures, 1 is a motor shaft which is operated at constant speed, for example, by the engine of a motor car or by any other suitable source of power. energy. This 1 shaft controls an intermediate shaft 2 at a reduced speed, through chain wheels 3 and 4 and a chain 5. Three eccentrics with variable stroke 6, for example of the type described in patent No. 97699 are set on shaft 2;
these eccentrics communicate a rotational movement to bare shaft skies 7 mounted on the control shaft 1, this - by means of a corresponding number of to, freewheel 8, clutches for example of the type described in patent No. 97492, and as follows: The movements of the eccentric collars are transmitted to the external elements of the clutches by means of m- control channels each comprising (fig. 2) an oscillating arm 9 capable of turn, at one of its ends, on a fixed pivot 10, and whose other end, 11, is connected to said element external by a connecting rod 12.
The eccentric collar is articulated at 13, to the link 9, by an ear 14 that it wears.
there is the driven shaft that can be clutched at at will on the motor shaft 1 or on the hollow shaft 7, by means of a clutch constituted, in the example, by a sleeve 16 provided with a key 17 fixed to < / B> the driven shaft 15, but being able to slide on it by the operation of a fork not shown, or any other similar device.
This sleeve 16 has a recess 18 receiving the end of the motor shaft 1 and that of the hollow shaft 7; each key these ends is provided respectively with teeth 19 and iga capable of engaging with a corresponding toothing 20 formed inside the recess 18 of the sleeve 16. When the teeth 20 of the sleeve 16 is brought into engagement with the teeth iga of the end of the shaft hollow, the driven shaft 15 receives its movement from the latter.
Po-tir Obtain the direct drive, that is to say to make the shafts 1 and 15 immediately integral, on the contrary, the sleeve 16 is moved towards la, left (in fig. 1), in order to bring toothing 20 into engagement with toothing 19. In this position, the driven shaft 15 is connected directly to the motor shaft 1, while the hollow shaft 7 is going crazy.
The reversal of the direction of rotation com takes a toothed pinion 21 mounted with key, but able to slide axially on an auxiliary shaft 22. This is controlled by the hollow shaft 7 </ B > to the assembly of wheels to chain 23 and a chain 24. To reverse the direction of travel of the trailing shaft 15, < / B> the sleeve 16 is brought into the drawn position, that is to say in the position in which the toothing 20 is not engaged with any of the teeth 19 </ B> and 19a.
The pinion 21 is then moved on the shaft 22 by means of a lever with fork not shown, or any other operating member, until this that it meshes with a corresponding toothing 25 which is cut on a crown '_ 26 formed on the sleeve 16. The trailing shaft 15 thus receives a rotational movement opposite to that of the hollow shaft 7.
Any suitable type of freewheel clutch can be used; but it is preferable to use that described in the patent cited above, comprising an internal element and an external element, the latter being able. oscillate under the action of the control mechanism described above. Its oscillation movement is transmitted, in the form of continuous rotary movement, to the internal element, by means of rollers arranged between the two elements and subjected to to the action of springs; only a part of these rollers engage with semicircular recesses formed on the periphery of the inner element , and this at each active stroke of the external element.
The recesses of the internal element are greater in number than that of the rollers carried by the external element, so that when one or more of the rollers is engaged to </ B > bottom in one of the recesses, the other rollers are in various positions ranging from engagement almost to bottom to full release, which ensures immediate engagement without shocks . You can vary the stroke of the 6 excen trics in any way.
The positive device shown in the drawing is that which is described in the patent cited above; it consists of an oblong groove 27 formed on each of the eccentric plates and thanks to which the latter can run smooth on parts 28, correspondingly profiled on the intermediate shaft 2. This groove is arranged such that each plate, at, one of the ends of its stroke on the part 28, </ B> is centered on tree 2; therefore in this position, no movement is transmitted to the corresponding collar.
The device for gradually varying the eccentricity com takes a screw 29 which is pinned at each of its ends 30 to the plate of ex centric, and a nut 31 the periphery of which is toothed and engaged with a grooved rod 32 which extends through through the 'shaft 2 and which can be actuated axially independently, by a suitable device not shown.
The movement of the rod 32 determines the simultaneous rotation of all the nuts 31 and gives an axial movement to the screws 29, which slides the eccentric plates on the profiled parts of the shaft, 2, and gradually varies the eccentricity of the plates, from its minimum to its maximum or vice versa. This results in a progressive variation of the amplitude of the pulses given to the clutches, and consequently a progressive variation of the speed of the hollow shaft 7.
When employing the transmission mechanism described in a case where the trailing shaft there would be liable to acquire a speed of rotation greater than that of the 'ar ber motor 1, as, for example, in motor vehicles, it is advisable to use a device preventing this excess speed. The one shown in FIG. 1 of the des sin consists of a freewheel clutch comprising two elements 33 and 34 which can be brought into engagement with each other thanks to, members 35, when they are driven by a rotational movement in the same direction, and capable of walking independently of one another when this movement is in the opposite direction.
In the application of this clutch to the mechanism described the element 33 is cla, vot6 on the tree 1 and the element 34 on the adjacent end of the hollow shaft 7. As long as the speed of the shaft 1 exceeds that of the shaft 7, these two shafts turn independently each other, but when the speed of the shaft 7 begins to exceed that of the shaft 1, the components 35 them solidify, this which has the result of slowing down the mechanism on the shaft 1.
It is obvious that the transmissions to chains could be replaced by others of any type and that the number of eccentrics can also be chosen at -will. On the other hand, the amplitude of the movement of the eccentric collars can be increased, by the choice of the position of the point 13, to the extent desired.
