Man erhält egale, normgerechte Ausrüstungen.
B. Maleinsäureanhydrid oder Phthalsäureanhydrid in Be tracht.
Als Alkylreste kommen u. a.
Hierzu benützt man z.

<B> Use of stable preparations of reaction products from </B> epoxies, <B> fatty amines </B> <B> and </B> dicarboxylic acids, <B> for the finishing of textiles </B> From the USA patent no A method for finishing wool is known from 3,019,076, which uses mixtures of polyepoxides having at least 2 epoxy groups and polyamides composed of polyamides and polycarboxylic acids in order to achieve shrink-proof effects. After impregnation, the material is dried and cured at temperatures above 100 ° C.
The disadvantage of applying mixtures of several components is the different affinity of the components to the substrate. The different winding speeds lead to uneven equipment, partial hardening of the grip and fiber damage. The thermal aftertreatment means additional stress on the wool material and an unfavorable influence on the quality of the wool.
French patent specification No. 1531 900 describes moldable, thermosetting materials made from diepoxides, hardeners and, if appropriate, hardening accelerators. The diepoxides are epoxides of bis-cyclohexyl dicarbonimide or amide esters of bi-cyclohexyl dicarboxylic acid; the hardeners can be mixtures of acid anhydrides and polyamines.
The resins obtained have good mechanical properties, e.g. B. They are thermally stable, and are used as an insulating material in electrical construction parts and machines. The chemical structure of these resins and their properties are different from the reaction products used according to the invention. A use as a felt strength agent is not disclosed.
It has now been found that textile materials can be refined in a gentle manner, in particular made felt-proof, if stable preparations of epoxy-fatty amine-dicarboxylic acid reaction products are applied. You get level, standard-compliant equipment.
The invention therefore relates to the use of stable preparations of reaction products from epoxides, fatty amines and dicarboxylic acids for finishing textiles, characterized in that reaction products containing free carboxyl groups are used from a) an epoxide which contains at least two epoxide groups per molecule , b) a higher molecular weight fatty amine with 12 to 24 carbon atoms and c) an aliphatic,
saturated dicarboxylic acid with at least 7 carbon atoms, which are obtained in the presence of an organic solvent and then mixed with g) ammonia or a water-soluble organic base at room temperature or at elevated temperature and that it is then ensured that a sample of the reaction mixture is diluted with Water has a pH of 7.5 to 12.
It is also possible to use reaction products from the components mentioned, which are obtained by additional reaction with one or more of the components: c ') an anhydride of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid having at least 8 carbon atoms or an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid having at least 4 carbon atoms or acetic anhydride, d) an aminoplast containing alkyl ether groups - precondensate, e)
an aliphatic diol with 2 to 22 carbon atoms and f) a polyfunctional, preferably difunctional organic compound which, as functional groups or atoms, contains mobile halogen, vinyl or ester groups or at most one acid, nitrile, hydroxyl or epoxy group with at least one other functional group or an atom of the specified type.
The pH value is adjusted after the reaction by adding more ammonia or other water-soluble organic bases.
The epoxides a) from which component a) is obtained are preferably derived from polyhydric phenols or polyphenols, such as resorcinol, phenol-formaldehyde condensation products of the resol or novolak type.
In particular, bisphenols such as bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) methane and above all 2,2-bis (4'-hydroxyphenyl) propane are preferred as starting compounds for the preparation of the epoxides.
Epoxies of 2,2-bis- (4'-hydroxyphenyl) propane, which have an epoxy content of 1.8 to 5.8 epoxy group equivalents / kg, but preferably, may be mentioned here in particular
EMI0002.0004
correspondingly, in which z is an average number ranging from 0 to 0.65. Such epoxides are obtained by reacting epichlorohydrin with 2,2-bis- (4'-hydroxyphenyl) propane.
Particularly suitable components (b) have proven to be monofatty amines with 12 to 24 carbon atoms. As a rule, these are amines of the formula (2) H, C- (CH,), - NHx, where x is an integer from 11 to 23, preferably 17 to 21. The amines are z. B. to lauryl, palmityl, stearyl, arachidyl or behenyl amine. Mixtures of such amines, such as are available as technical products, are also suitable.
Particularly alkylenedicarboxylic acids with 7 to 14 carbon atoms have proven to be advantageous component (c). As a rule, these are dicarboxylic acids of the formula (3) HooC- (CHz) y COOH, where y is an integer from 5 to 12, preferably 6 to 10.
As component (c) therefore z. B. dicarboxylic acids such as pimelic, cork, azelaic or sebacic acid, nona, decanoic, undecanoic or dodecanedicarboxylic acid are suitable.
Component (c) can be used alone or together with component (c '). As component (c '), preference is given to using an anhydride of a mono- or bicyclic aromatic dicarboxylic acid having 8 to 12 carbon atoms or of an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid having 4 to 10 carbon atoms. Anhydrides of a monocyclic aromatic dicarboxylic acid with 8 to 10 have proven particularly advantageous
Carbon atoms proved. Phthalic anhydride which is optionally substituted by methyl is of particular interest.
As component (c ') therefore come anhydrides such. B. maleic anhydride or phthalic anhydride in Be tracht.
If component (d) is also used to produce the reaction products, its proportion, based on the total of components (a), (b), (c) and (d), is 10 to 50, in particular 20 to 25 percent by weight.
The aminoplast precondensates used as component (d) are completely or, in particular, partially etherified methylol compounds of nitrogen-containing aminoplast formers such as urea, urea derivatives, e.g. B. ethylene urea, propylene urea or glyoxal monoureain.
However, etherified Methyloiamino- triazines are preferred, such as. B. alkyl ethers of highly methylated melamine, the alkyl radicals of which contain 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
As alkyl radicals u. a. Methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, isopropyl, n-butyl and also n-hexyl radicals in Be have at least 5 epoxy group equivalents / kg and which have the formula. In addition to such alkyl radicals, other radicals, e.g. B. polyglycol residues may be present in the molecule.
In addition, n-butyl ethers of a highly methylolated melamine, which contain 2 to 3 n-butyl groups in the molecule, are preferred. Highly methylolated melamines here are to be understood as meaning those with an average of at least 5, suitably about 5.5, methyl groups.
If component (e) is also used to prepare the reaction products, these diols are preferably aliphatic diols having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, the carbon chains of which are optionally interrupted by oxygen atoms.
Of particular interest here are alkylene diols with 2 to 6 carbon atoms or di- or triethylene glycol. Among the alkylenediols with 2 to 6 carbon atoms which are used with particular advantage, B. ethylene glycol, 1,4-butanediol or especially 1,6-hexanediol mentioned.
The optional, polyfunctional, preferably difunctional component (f) contains halogen atoms, vinyl or carboxylic acid ester groups or at most one epoxy, carboxylic acid or hydroxyl group together with another functional group or, as functional groups or atoms, preferably bonded to an alkyl radical another atom of the kind specified.
In particular, these are bifunctional organic compounds which contain chlorine or bromine atoms, vinyl or carboxylic acid alkyl ester groups or at most one epoxy or carboxylic acid group together with another functional group or another atom, bonded to an alkyl radical as functional groups or atoms of the specified type.
Particularly suitable difunctional organic compounds are aliphatic. It is z. B. Epihalohydrin such as epibromohydrin or especially epichlorohydrin.
Other possible difunctional compounds are e.g. B. glycerol dichlorohydrin, acrylic acid, methylolacrylamide, acrylonitrile.
Component (g) is suitably an aliphatic tertiary monoamine, ammonia or an amine containing at least two amino groups and exclusively basic nitrogen atoms, in which the amino groups have at least one hydrogen atom bonded to nitrogen.
Preferred tertiary amines are trialkylamines having 3 to 12 carbon atoms, e.g. B. triethylamine, tri-n-propylamine or tri-n-butylamine.
The diamines to be used as component (g) can be aliphatic or cycloaliphatic and preferably have at least one primary amino group and a second amino group in which at least one hydrogen atom is bonded to nitrogen. Furthermore, ammonia can also simply be used as component (g). However, diprimary aliphatic or cycloaliphatic amines are preferably used as component (g).
Suitable aliphatic amines here are above all poly amines such as diethylenetriamine, triethylenetetramine or tetraethylene pentamine, that is to say amines of the formula (4) HZN- (CH, -CH, -NH) n-CH, -CH, -NH2 where n is 1 , Is 2 or 3.
In the case of amine mixtures, one can also assume a non-integer average value, e.g. B. between 1 and 2.
Particularly suitable cycloaliphatic amines are di-primary, cycloaliphatic diamines which, apart from the two amine nitrogen atoms, contain only carbon and hydrogen, a saturated 5- to 6-membered carbocych ring, a H2N group bonded to a ring carbon atom and a have H2N-CH2 group bonded to another ring carbon atom.
Examples of such amines are 3,5,5-trimethyl-1-amino-3-aminomethyl-cyclohexane or 1-amino-2-aminomethyl-cyclopentane.
The reaction products can be prepared by methods known per se, it being possible for the components to be reacted with one another in various sequences. Components (a) and (b) or (a), (b) and (c) are expediently reacted with one another first. The reaction of component (c) with the already converted components (a) and (b) can also take place simultaneously with component (e). Components (d) and (f) are usually only used at the end, i.e. H. before being set with component (g).
On the one hand, it is therefore possible to first react components (a), (b) and (c) and optionally (c ') with one another at the same time and then optionally react with components (d), (e) and (f) . In this variant of the process, components (a), (b) and (c) are expediently reacted with one another at temperatures of 80 to 12 ° C., preferably 100 ° C., the proportions advantageously being chosen so that one epoxy group equivalent of 1, the equivalent ratio of hydrogen bonded to amine nitrogen to carboxylic acid groups is 0.1: 1 to 1: 0.55.
On the other hand, components a) and b) can be reacted with one another first and then reacted with component (c) and optionally in a third stage with component (d), (e) or (f). The preparation of the reaction products from (a) and (b) according to this 2nd variant is also expediently carried out at temperatures of 80 to 120 ° C., preferably at about 100 ° C.
The reaction in the second stage with component (c) is expediently carried out at 80 to 110.degree. C., preferably about 100.degree. C., the proportions advantageously being chosen so that with an epoxy group equivalent of 1 , the equivalent ratio of hydrogen bonded to amine nitrogen to carboxylic acid groups is 0.1: 1 to 1: 0.55.
The ratio of epoxy (a) to fatty amine (b) and acid (c) or anhydride (c ') is selected according to the invention so that a deficit of epoxy is used, so that the sum of the amino and acid groups is less than an epoxy group comes. The reaction products thus contain carboxyl end groups.
If amino group equivalents are used in the following, this is always the number of hydrogen atoms bound to amine nitrogen per molecule.
The reaction product containing carboxylic acid groups generally has an acid number of 20 to 80, preferably 35 to 60. The reaction with component (d) usually takes place at temperatures of 60 to 105 ° C., preferably about 100 ° C. This reaction usually takes place in the presence of small amounts of organic solvents such as. B. n-butanol instead.
As already mentioned, the reaction with component (e) takes place simultaneously with component (c).
The reaction with component (f) takes place before the addition of component (g) at temperatures of about 60 to 120 C.
The addition of component (g) can take place at room temperature or at elevated temperature, so that either only neutralization with salt formation or, if tertiary amines are not used, correct conversion takes place. In both cases, however, polyadducts which are soluble or dispersible in water are formed by ensuring, at the latest after the end of the reaction, if necessary by adding a base, that a sample of the reaction mixture diluted with water has a pH of 7.5 to 12, preferably from 8 to 10. For this purpose one uses z. B. inorganic or organic bases, before some volatile bases such as ammonia.
It is also advantageous, in a reaction with (g) at temperatures of at most 80 ° C., e.g. B. at 60 to 70 C to work. When using ammonia or a tertiary amine as component (g), it is expedient to react at room temperature. The solutions or dispersions thus obtained, optionally mixed with base and expediently adjusted to a content of 10 to 40% conversion product with an organic solvent or with water, are distinguished by high stability.
The organic solvents in the presence of which the reaction products are prepared are primarily water-soluble organic solvents, specifically advantageously those which can be mixed with water as desired. Examples include dioxane, isopropanol, ethanol and methanol, ethylene glycol n-butyl ether (= n-butyl glycol), diethylene glycol monobutyl ether.
In addition, it is also possible to carry out the reaction in the presence of water-insoluble organic solvents, for. B. in hydrocarbons such as gasoline, benzene, toluene, xylene; halogenated hydrocarbons such as methylene chloride, methylene bromide, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, ethylene chloride, ethylene bromide, s-tetrachloroethane and, above all, trichlorethylene.
Reaction products of particular interest are obtained by adding a reaction product containing carboxylic acid groups from at least (a) one epoxide which contains at least two epoxide groups per molecule, (b) a higher molecular weight fatty amine, (c) an aliphatic, saturated dicarboxylic acid with at least 7 carbon atoms and optionally (d) an aminoplast precondensate containing alkyl ether groups, the proportion of component (d)
based on all components in the reaction product is at most 50 percent by weight, with (g) an amine containing at least two amino groups and exclusively basic nitrogen atoms, in which the amino groups each have at least one hydrogen atom bonded to nitrogen, or ammonia, in the presence of one organic solvent, the equivalent ratio of acid groups to hydrogen bonded to amine nitrogen or to ammonia 1: 1 to 1:
10 and at the latest after the end of the reaction it is ensured, if necessary by adding a base, that a sample of the reaction mixture has a pH of 7.5 to 12 after dilution with water. Particularly advantageous products of this type are also obtained with the previously specified preferred components (a) to (d) and diamines.
The reaction products can be used for various purposes, especially for finishing textiles. In particular, they are suitable for making wool feltproof, the wool being impregnated with an aqueous liquor to which the preparation and, if desired, further additives such as wetting agents and dispersants have been added, and then dried and treated at elevated temperature subject.
However, the method for dyeing and felting wool proves to be particularly advantageous, in which the wool is dyed one after the other in any order according to the extraction method and on the other hand at temperatures of 20 to 100 C and a pH of 7 to 2 the inventive preparations treated. Dyeing and felting can thus be combined in a simple way and carried out in the same apparatus without the wool being removed from the apparatus between the two processes. Dyeing can be done in the usual, known manner with any suitable dyes for wool, eg.
B. acidic wool dyes, 1: 1 or 1: 2 metal complex dyes or reactive dyes. The additives commonly used in the dyeing of wool can also be used, such as sulfuric acid, acetic acid, sodium sulphate, ammonium sulphate and leveling agents, polyglycol compounds of higher aliphatic amines being particularly suitable as leveling agents.
which can optionally also be quaternized and / or esterified on the hydroxyl groups with polybasic acids.
The liquor used for making felt contains, in addition to the preparation of the polyaddition product, the amount of acid required for setting the acidic medium, e.g. B. sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, oxalic acid or especially acetic acid. However, other salts such as sodium sulfite or sodium thiosulfate can also be used. However, the liquors can also contain other customary additives such as fabric softeners or bleaches, e.g. B. hydrogen peroxide contain.
The amount of the reaction product according to the invention (not including solvent and water), based on the weight of the wool, is advantageously 0.5 to 5%, preferably 1.2 to 4%. As mentioned, one works at temperatures of 20 to 100 ° C., preferably 35 to 110 ° C., and requires mostly between 5 and 60 minutes for an extensive to practically complete fixation of the polyadduct.
The two processes can be in any order; in general, it is more advantageous to dye them first and then to make them felt-proof.
The combined process for dyeing and making wool felt is particularly suitable in the actual apparatus dyeing, where the dyed material is stationary and the liquor is moved.
If necessary, the permanence of the felt-resistant finishes can be improved if the wool is pretreated with a dilute aqueous solution of dichloroisocyanuric acid or its alkali metal salt prior to treatment with a preparation which contains a reaction product.
When using treatment baths with a high content of organic, especially water-insoluble Lö solutions, or even anhydrous, only organic Lö solvent-containing baths, it is useful to work in closed apparatus, eg. B. those used in dry chemical cleaning. The preparations can also be used as sizing agents for paper.
Furthermore, with the aid of preparations which contain the present reaction products, dyes, in particular reactive dyes, are well fixed on textiles, in particular wool, which is expressed, inter alia, in improved perspiration fastness.
Furthermore, equipment with the present reaction products also improve the mechanical properties, e.g. B. tensile strength, elongation at break, abrasion resistance, tendency to pilling of the treated textile material.
Furthermore, it is sometimes also possible to use the reaction products in an organic solvent, i. H. either as a solution or as a dispersion in an organic solvent. Solvents that can be used are the same as those described for the preparation.
If the reaction products are insoluble in water-insoluble organic solvents, they can be dispersed in the water-insoluble solvent in the presence of an organosoluble surface-active agent. For this purpose, the reaction product, the solvent and the surface-active agent can go together with stirring or else, preferably, the reaction product can be made into a paste with the surface-active agent and then introduced into the solvent with stirring. A stable dispersion is obtained.
These dispersions are applied in the same way as described for the aqueous preparations.
