Description
Verfahren zur Darstellung eines schwefelhaltigen Derivates eines aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffes. Durch das Ilauptpatent ist ein Verfahren gemäss dem man zu einem wert vollen<B>01</B> dadurch gelangt, dass man Toluol mit Schwefel und Aluminiumehlorid erhitzt. Es wurde nun gefunden, dass man bei der Darstellung dieses Produktes nicht fertig ,##ebildetes Aluminiumehlorid zu benutzen braucht, sondern an dessen Stelle, in an sich bekannter Weise, metallisches, zweckmässig fein zerkleinertes Aluminium verwenden und in das Reaktionsgemisch Salzsäure einleiten kann.
Diese Arbeitsweise bedeutet eine we sentliche, technische Verbesserung, deren Ge lingen im vorliegenden Fall in keiner Weise vorauszusehen war.
<I>Beispiel:</I> <B>6000</B> Gewichtsteile Toluol, <B>1500</B> Ge- wicht-.steile Sehwefel, <B>50</B> Gewichtsteile Alu minium in Blättehenform werden unter Ein- leiten von Salzsäure allmählig zum Sieden erhitzt und bei dieser Temperatur bis zur Beendigung der Schwefelwasserstoffentwich#- Irung gehalten. Die Mischung wird durch Ein giessen in Wasser von Alumiiii-Liinehlorid und Salzsäure befreit und das aIgeschiedene ÜI nach dem Entwässern im Vakuum fraktio niert.
Process for the preparation of a sulfur-containing derivative of an aromatic hydrocarbon. The main patent provides a method according to which a valuable <B> 01 </B> is obtained by heating toluene with sulfur and aluminum chloride. It has now been found that in the preparation of this product it is not necessary to use completely formed aluminum chloride, but instead, in a manner known per se, use metallic, suitably finely comminuted aluminum and introduce hydrochloric acid into the reaction mixture.
This way of working means a substantial technical improvement, the success of which could not be foreseen in the present case.
<I> Example: </I> <B> 6000 </B> parts by weight of toluene, <B> 1500 </B> parts by weight of sulfur, <B> 50 </B> parts by weight of aluminum in sheet form Gradually heated to the boil while passing in hydrochloric acid and held at this temperature until the evolution of hydrogen sulfide ceased. The mixture is freed of aluminum chloride and hydrochloric acid by pouring it into water and the separated oil is fractionated in vacuo after dehydration.
