B. Lumpen, Torf, alte Schuhe etc. verbrannt. Diesen Räucherkesseln hafteten jedoch verschiedene Nachteile an.

Smoking device for driving away insects.
It is unfortunate that draft animals are annoyed by horseflies and mosquitos in the hot season. For many years smoke has been used to ward off these insects, and so far for this purpose there have mainly been so-called incense kettles, which were attached to the drawbar of the wagon by means of brackets and in which all sorts of materials were found that were known to be burned strong smoke develops, e.g. B. rags, peat, old shoes, etc. burned. However, there were various disadvantages associated with these incense burners.
Since they were not insulated from heat, they became so hot during use that they could not be placed between the draft animals themselves, but only in front of or behind them. If these incense burners were attached to the front of the drawbar, the smoke from them rose in the eyes and noses of the draft animals and annoyed them and while driving the incense kettle hit the draft animals on the legs. If gusts of wind came from the side, the smoke was carried away without being able to be effective.
However, if the smoking kettles were attached to the rear of the drawbar, it often happened that the cargo on the wagon, such as B. Eeu or sheaves was ignited.
When driving, only the wagon, but not the draft animals, was smeared with smoke.
These bad perennials are to be remedied by the present invention. The same relates to a smoking device for driving away insects, which differs from known smoking devices in that the device has a detachably arranged in an envelope receiving member for the smoking material, which is insulated from heat. This design makes it possible to attach the smoking device between the draft animals themselves, so that the smoke wave is in the most suitable place, where it is also protected from lateral gusts of wind by the draft animals' bodies.
On the accompanying drawing, five exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown, namely:

15 shows a view with a partial section of the device attached to an only partially drawn drawbar according to the fifth exemplary embodiment,
Fig. 16 is a plan view thereof,
Fig. 17 shows schematically the attachment of the device to a drawbar BEZW. on a tiller arm.
The device according to the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1-5 has a receiving element formed from the U-shaped rails a (FIGS. 3-5) and the longitudinal rods b, which is used to receive the smoking material.
The longitudinal bars b are connected to one another at one end by the transverse web c. The handle cl is attached to the latter by means of letters not designated in more detail. Approximately in the longitudinal center of the U-shaped rails a, the helical rail f running in the direction of the longitudinal center line is fastened by means of rivets e. At its end facing away from the handle, the same has a flap g bent downwards at right angles and an extension A, the purpose of which is described later. The receiving organ is in the envelope i, the z.
B. can consist of sheet metal, housed, which is chosen from such a diameter that # when it is attached to the drawbar of a wagon, does not protrude laterally over the same. The envelope i is provided with holes k which allow the air to enter and the smoke to exit.
On the upper side of the covering i, one ends of the resilient arms ou bent in an S-shape are fastened by means of rivets l, the other ends of which are veiled with points directed towards aurez. o denotes a bow that is placed around the envelope and fastened to it by unspecified means, with the two ends of which the ends of the bands p are connected, by means of which the device z. B. on a drawbar D (from Fig. 1 of the drawing only partially visible) can be attached.
The envelope i is open at one end for the introduction of the receiving organ; at the other end it has a wall q, on the inside of which one end of the flat spring r is fastened, the other end of which protrudes from the wall q by a certain amount and is intended to act on the extension h. A bolt z is fastened to the transverse web c by means not designated in greater detail, which bolt z corresponds to an angular slot in the envelope i1S, which cannot be seen in the drawing.
The usage and operation of the described device is as follows:
Assume that the receiving element used to receive the smoking material has been removed from the urinal cover i and the cover is fastened to the drawbar D by tightening the two belt halves p so that the hooks rt engage the underside of the drawbar and thereby twist or shift the cover i prevent and you want to put the device in action, so you put the smoking material, z. B. a censer into the receiving organ.
If one wishes to use the smoking apparatus for a comparatively long time, both halves of the receiving organ are filled with incense material so that after the contents of one half have been burned, the contents of the other half burns and smoke develops.
After the smoking material has been filled in and ignited, the receptacle element is pushed back into the envelope i, to the extent that the extension h comes to rest against the free end of the flat spring r and the bolt s into the closed end of the drawing not visible angled slot comes to lie, in which the receiving member is secured against falling out due to the action of the flat spring r. The smoke that develops then exits the envelope i through the holes Ic and keeps the insects, such as horseflies and mosquitoes, etc.
far from the draft animals. Since there is an air-insulation space between the container used to hold the smoking material and the cover i, the cover is insulated from heat, so that the device z. B. can be attached in the middle of the drawbar between the draft animals themselves without the draft animals being able to burn.
The embodiment according to FIGS. 6 and 7 differs from the one described above essentially in that the organ used to receive the smoking material consists of a rod s' which has a helically extending rib t on its circumference. The receiving member described serves mainly to receive long-fiber incense material, which is then wound onto the rod s'. In this way it is possible to accommodate a relatively large amount of smoking material in the container.
The envelope i is selected to be of such a diameter that there is an air-insulation space between it and the receiving member for the cleaning material.
The device according to the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 8 and 9 has a receiving member M with a U-shaped cross section.
The two longitudinal walls of the receiving element have a number of transverse walls arranged at a distance from one another and running parallel to one another, which are alternately attached to one of the two side walls of the container and which do not quite extend to the other side wall. These transverse walls w form chambers for receiving the tube material, which chambers are connected to one another.
This training of the receiving organ enables the use of short-fiber incense material. As the transverse walls form actual chicanes when the incense material is burned, the incense material burns relatively slowly. In this embodiment, too, there is an air-insulation space between the envelope i and the receiving member for the smoking material.
In the embodiment according to FIGS.
10-14 has both the envelope i and the receiving member x round cross-sectional shape. The receiving element x is provided with a circumferential ring z at the front and rear, which is selected to be of a slightly larger diameter than the receiving element itself, so that the latter is kept at a certain distance from the envelope, creating an air isolation space between the receiving element and the envelope is formed. The receiving member x is provided with a number of perforations y which allow the air to enter and the smoke to exit.
One end of the spring z 'is attached to the envelope i by means of unspecified means, the other end of which is connected to the spring plate a'ver, which is intended to act on the end of the receiving member x facing away from the handle d, when the same is in the position shown in FIGS. 10 and 13. In this position the pin s is pressed against the closed end of the angular seat s ″ (FIG. 12) so that the receiving member cannot fall out of the envelope i.
In the embodiment according to FIGS.
15 and 16, one end of the flash spring is fastened near one end of the receiving member x, the other end of which is bent upwards with a bolt, the one near the free end of the spring a disk and the other At the end, a certain distance away from the mentioned disk, a button p # wear # gt. The cover i is provided with a longitudinal slot q #, which is selected to be of such a width that the part of the bolt o # located between the washer p # and the button p # is guided in it.
The longitudinal slot q 'is widened at one end to form a recess, the diameter of which corresponds to the diameter of the disk p #. If one wants to introduce the receiving member x @ into the cover i, then one presses the button p "so far downwards until the part of the bolt o" located between the button and the disk p'being between the button and the disk p'being with the provided in the cover L # ngsschlitz q # corresponds.
If the disk p # is below the recess r #, then the button p # is released, whereupon the disk p # is pressed into the recess r # under the influence of the spring o 'and thereby that Secures the receiving organ against accidental falling out. As in the exemplary embodiments described above, there is an air-insulation space between the cover and the receiving element.
The inside of the envelope as well as the outside wall of the receiving organ are also covered with an asbestos layer, which increases the thermal insulation.
The device according to the exemplary embodiments described can, as can be seen from FIG. 17, be attached either below the drawbar D or the drawbar arms A.
The device according to the exemplary embodiments described could also be designed differently than shown, without the essence of the invention being impaired.
