Abstract

Hydroprocessing facilities can operate for extended periods of time before the detection of mercury in the inlet facilities, as mercury adsorbs on the metal pipes (100) used to transport hydrocarbon fluids, for example, gas , produced water, from the wells to the processing facilities ("flow lines"). Once the pipes (100) are "saturated" with mercury, the mercury will appear and be detected at the inlet facilities. Mercury management / control scheme where a chemical or thermal treatment stage is used to clean the pipe, administering the accumulation of mercury in the pipe for a reduced concentration of mercury in the fluid that flows out of the flow lines. during the heat treatment stage it is performed using any of a laser treatment, a combustion device or a coil of Induction During the chemical treatment stage, an aqueous solution of sulfide is used comprising at least 0.1% by weight of a sulfide, a polysulfide or a combination thereof.
