Abstract

La presente invención se basa en el sorprendente resultado de que los materiales de empaque que comprenden al menos un agente modulador de la humedad pueden reducir significativamente la pérdida 5 de humedad, el daño físico y/o la desintegración microbiana del producto. La inclusión de tales agentes moduladores de la humedad puede proveer al menos una de las siguientes ventajas: (1) menos desarrollo de la enfermedad en comparación con el material de empaque tradicional; (2) productos más frescos y firmes con menos 10 pudriciones o defectos (por ejemplo, agrietarse o partirse); (3) mejor transparencia en comparación con el material de empaque tradicional; (4) impedir que la humedad dentro de la bolsa se convierta en grandes gotas o incluso en agua acumulada (es decir, menos acumulación de agua o condensación de humedad dentro del empaque); y (5) proveer 15 suficiente transmisión de gas de oxígeno (O2)/dióxido de carbono (CO2) y/o un agente de gestión de calidad, por ejemplo etileno o 1-MCP, para un mejor control de calidad durante el almacenamiento a temperatura ambiente (vida media).
