Description
The invention relates to a method for the production of water glass from calcium silicate slag, as obtained in the production of phosphorus by the thermoelectric method · water glass is widely used in industry, for example as a raw material for silicas, silica gels, molecular sieves, detergent raw materials and binders in the foundry technology.
Water glass is generally prepared by a melt digestion of silica sand with soda at 1350 0 C. The resulting Pestglas is dissolved in a pressure digestion with addition of steam in V / asser.
It is also known that calcium silicate slag from the thermoelectric method for phosphorus extraction can be digested with various mineral acids (DD-PS 51027, DD-PS 83977) and the silica residue obtained can be dissolved in sodium hydroxide to water glass (DD-PS 83977) · It arise while the corresponding calcium salt solutions of mineral acids and silica ..
According to the composition of the calcium silicate slag, these products are more or less contaminated, so that a high-quality use is limited or not at all possible.
Besonders störend auf die Qualität der Kieselsäure machen sich Phosphate, Kalzium, Strontium, Aluminium und Anteile Seltener Erden bemerkbar.Particularly disturbing on the quality of the silicic acid are phosphates, calcium, strontium, aluminum and shares of rare earths noticeable.
The pulping process given in DD-PS 83977, in particular with the use of hydrochloric acids of higher concentrations, does not allow a complete removal of these products from the resulting silica · As : particularly disturbing makes the dissolution kinetics in the also incurred concentrated calcium chloride solution, the one counteracts complete digestion.
Since the silica acts as a filtration aid, all non-soluble and partially dissolved components remain in the solid-liquid separation in the silica, which is for the described method for producing pure concentrated calcium chloride solutions of advantage, but the resulting silica is highly contaminated and their usability considerably limits.
' Another disadvantage of the digestion process described for a technical Hutzung is a strong gas evolution. In addition to the burden of the process by highly toxic gases occurs by the gas evolution in combination with the high heat of reaction, such a strong foaming that the technical feasibility in the considerable Dimensions are obstructed and very costly separation processes are required ·. '
It is also known (DD-PS 83977) that can be reacted with aqueous sodium hydroxide solution to water glasses of various concentrations and molar ratios derived from the salt-acid phosphorus slag digestion silica. In this reaction, the impurities contained in the silica make particularly disturbing, as they form very slimy precipitates due to their alkali insolubility and consistency, which persistently resist filtration even with the addition of the usual filtration aids, such as pumice, and the Decanting the waterglass solution only after extremely long settling times', creating a water glass, which is subject to considerable restrictions in its use value ·
The same applies aucb for the silica, which comes from the nitric acid digestion (DD-PS 51027) of the phosphor slag. In this method, especially the high nitric acid concentration is disturbing, which is necessary on the one hand to unlock the phosphates and fluorides contained in the slag, bring the rare earths in solution and to obtain a calcium nitrate solution that can be used in the fertilizer process, but due to the lack of liquid to a concentrated suspension (digestion solution, silica), which impedes the solid-liquid separation and leads to a silica whose inner surface is substantially blocked by residues of calcium and aluminum. This silica may be used for bleaching and for adsorption purposes To choose the appropriate digestion conditions be useful, but only to a minor extent for the production of high quality water glass, since the impurities in the alkaline digestion form a fine pulp that can not be removed by decanting and a filtration exceptorde This water glass is likewise contaminated by soluble aluminosilicates. For example, such water glass is useless for the molecular sieve synthesis. The described processes for processing the phosphorus slag have actually not found their way into practice ·
Das Ziel der Erfindung besteht darin, qualitativ hochwertiges Wasserglas billig in einem technisch durchführbaren Verfahren aus Kalziumsilikatschlacke herzustellen·The object of the invention is to produce high-quality water glass cheaply in a technically feasible process from calcium silicate slag.
Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, die Nachteile bei der Herstellung von Wasserglas aus Kalziumsilikatschlacke zu überwinden·The invention has for its object to overcome the disadvantages in the production of water glass of calcium silicate slag ·
Es wurde gefunden, daß die durch Abschrecken mit Wasser erhältliche Kalziumsilikatschlacke, wie sie bei der Herstellung von Phosphor nach dem thermoelektrischen Verfahren anfällt, überraschenderweise mit Entfallsalzsäuren chemischer GroßprozesseIt has been found that the calcium silicate slag obtainable by quenching with water, as obtained in the production of phosphorus by the thermoelectric method, surprisingly with decalcified acids of large chemical processes
' .is reacted in a certain grain size using an oxidizing agent and use of the heat of reaction to silica, which is separated from the suspension, washed with water and dissolved in aqueous sodium hydroxide so that the associated heat of reaction is used for the dissolution process * The grain size of the slag used should be less than 6 mm, with more than 50 % of the calcium silicate slag used being between 1 and 3 mm and less than 10% smaller than 0.5 mm ·. '.

The digestion acid is used in a weight ratio of 1: 3: 3 to 4.5, based on calcium silicate slag, the concentration of oxidizing agent being 0.2 to 1% by weight of the calcium silicate slag.

The granularity of the calcium silicate slag proves to have a particularly surprising effect on the quality of the silica. Usually, the finer the starting material, the greater the activity of the silica obtained from the digestion. However, this is not the case; If the particle size of the slag is reduced when digested, the rate of reaction of the resulting silica with sodium hydroxide solution is not greater, as is to be expected. Obviously, in the case of a very fine-grained product, the inner surface is partially blocked by absorbed calcium or aluminum Coarsely grained slag not only has a positive effect on the separation of the silica from the digestion solution, but obviously also on the dissolution kinetics with sodium hydroxide solution.
Die Kieselsäure wird mit Wasser neutral gewaschen und von löslichen Anteilen befreit·Surprisingly, a silica is obtained which is not subject to an aging process immediately and can therefore be easily dissolved with sodium hydroxide · The reaction time of the digestion should be 0.75 to 1.5 hours, preferably 1 hour, the residence time at a temperature greater than 100 0 C. 0.5 to 1 hour · From the suspension obtained, the silica can be easily separated by sedimentation or filtration. The silica is washed neutral with water and freed from soluble fractions.
The still moist form of the silica with a water content of 40 to 70 % is introduced with stirring under normal pressure slowly in 70 to 80 0 C hot caustic soda. The addition should be such that the reaction temperature of 60 to 80 0 C is maintained by the heat of dilution and solution of the wet silica · The reaction time should be at least 0.75 hours and depends on the particular desired concentration and Molverh / age. This can be from 1 mol of Na 2 O to 1 to 4 mol of SiO 2 . The desired concentration of the silicate solution can be varied by the concentration of the sodium hydroxide solution. The water glass obtained by this process can be easily decanted or filtered for high quality application according to the "Precot principle".
