Description
Anwendungsgebiet der ErfindungField of application of the invention
The invention relates to a production process for lubricants by addition of an additive combination, which is particularly advantageous to use in gear and hydraulic oils.
Charakteristik des bekennten Standes der TechnikCharacteristic of the known state of the art
It is known to add for the lubrication of machinery and aggregates the lubricating oils used for sulfur or sulfur compounds, in order to achieve an associated increase in pressure capacity of the oil in order to reduce wear during operation. The sulfur forms a reaction layer on the metal surface, which counteracts the wear. The effectiveness of such sulfur compounds depends critically on the reactivity and the content of the sulfur.
Thus, it is known that organic polysulfides best meet these requirements, the efficacy increasing with increasing sulfur content. Sulfur compounds with 5 to 50% sulfur content are known. The preparation and use of such polysulfides is described in GB-PS 2016419 as well as in US-PS 4204969.
It is also known that by adding organic nitro compounds in combination with sulfur-containing EP additives, a synergistic effect in the load bearing capacity occurs. This synergistic effect is represented by MÜLLER (Schmierungstechnik 1986, H3, p.84) for friction-reducing lubricant additives. For example, synergistic effects are described for combinations of sulfanes (disulfides) and sulfones of the dicyclopentadiene trithiolane type with nitroaromatics. Other synergistic effects are reported for thioureas, organic halogen compounds, dithiophosphoric acid derivatives, and the like. specified. In contrast, occurs when combined with organic esters and acids as additional funkiionellen groups in the system nitro groups / sulfur compounds antagonism. For example, when testing 1% trithiolane dodecyl ester on the Almen-Wieland machine, MÜLLER found a reduction in the load carrying capacity by adding 0.5% dinitrotoluene from 12500N to 6500N.
' ,These contradictory phenomena are explained by the fact that ester and nitro groups exert the same electronegative charge function and thus interfere with the chemical film formation reactions on the metal surface as a result of mutual repulsion. This is basically based on an antagonism of the combination of additives from organic, sulfur-containing esters and nitroaromatics. ',
Ziel der ErfindungObject of the invention
The aim of the invention is the addition of lubricants with an EP-effective additive combination in low concentration.
Darlegung des Wesens der ErfindungExplanation of the essence of the invention
The invention has for its object to mix unalloyed or alloyed lubricants an EP-effective additive combination that gives the lubricants both excellent load-bearing capacity with very good formulation stability and excellent copper corrosion properties and, if necessary, beyond, the effective concentration of EP additives in the lubricant to reduce.
Optimale Wirkungs- und Anwendungseigenschaften zeigen solche Ester im Alkylkohlenstoifanzahlbereich von C6 bis C12.According to the invention, the process for the addition of lubricants with EP additives by mixing the unalloyed or alloyed lubricant with 0.1% to 10Ma .-% of an additive comitf nation of aromatic nitro compounds in mono- and / or disubstitution and organic sulfur compounds in M / isseverhältnis 1 : 2 to 1: 100 essentially characterized in that the sulfur-organic compounds used are thioglycolic acid esters having an alkyl carbon number of C 4 to C 18 in both normal and isostructure or mixtures thereof. Optimal efficacy and application properties show such esters in Alkylkohlenstoifanzahlbereich of C 6 to C 12th
Das Verhältnis Nitroaromat:Thioglykolsäureester beträgt 1:2 bis 1:100.As is known, both mono- and dinitro aromatic compounds are suitable as aromatic nitro compounds. The aromatics may be substituted by further radicals such as alkyl, halogen or ester groups. For example, nitrobinners, nitrotoluenes and dinitrotoluenes are particularly suitable. The ratio of nitroaromatic: thioglycolic ester is 1: 2 to 1: 100.
Both mineral oils and synthetic oils are suitable for the production of oil formulations. As mineral oils, those based on petroleum, tar oils, etc. can be used, as they are prepared by the known refining. Further, animal, vegetable and synthetic oils, such as olefin polymers, ester oils and polyalkylene glycols, are useful.
Furthermore, the use of other known additives in connection with the inventive use of the combination of nitroaromatics and Thioglykolsäure6stern is possible. Thus, as known, detergent additives, VP / improvers, oxidation inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors, etc. can be used.
Surprisingly, it has been found that when using a combination of esters of thioglycolic acid with aromatic nitro compounds in lubricants a very strong synergistic effect with respect to the load carrying capacity occurs. The antagonistic effect for combinations ester / nitroaromatics found by MÜLLER (Schmierungstechnik 1986, H 3, p. 84) does not apply to the esters of thioglycolic acid as an organic sulfuric ester component. Thus, in the load carrying capacity, measured in the VKA, very high values are obtained. The oil solutions remain stable and there is no copper corrosion. Thus, the concentration of the additive combination in the mineral oil can be lowered to achieve a high load carrying capacity or it can be achieved extremely high load bearing values.
