Claims (17)

1. I en fremgangsmåde til C5- og C6-sukkergenvinding fra lignocellulosisk biomasse til fermentering til ætanol omfattende trinene forbehandling af biomassen med damp ved forhøjet temperatur og tryk, opsamling af C5-sukre fra hemicellulosenedbrydning, cellulosehydrolyse og opsamling af C6-sukre fra cellulosenedbrydning, hvor forbedringen omfatter konditionering af biomassen forud for forbehandlingen ved at: opvarme biomassen med damp for et tidsrum på mellem 5 minutter og 60 minutter for at opnå en dampbehandlet biomasse, der har en temperatur på omkring 80 til 100 °C, fjerne en væskestrøm indeholdende resiner, olier, fedtsyrer eller andre hæmmere af nedstrøms hydrolyse eller fermentering ved at presse den dampopvarmede biomasse i et 2- 1 til 6-1 kompressionsforhold, og, efter trinet til at presse den dampopvarmede biomasse og fjerne væskestrømmen, justere et fugtindhold af den dampbehandlede og pressede biomasse til omkring 60 % til 80 % ved at tilsætte vand eller vand og en brugerudvalgt katalysator ønsket til forbehandlingsprocessen, hvor katalysatoren er syre og varierer i koncentration fra mellem 0 og 5 volumenprocent.
2. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, hvor den dampopvarmede biomasse presses ved et 3- 1 til 4-1 kompressionsforhold, fortrinsvis ved et 4-1 kompressionsforhold.
3. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1 eller 2, hvor fugtindholdet justeres til omkring 65 % til 80 %, fortrinsvis omkring 70 % til 75 %.
4. Fremgangsmåde ifølge ethvert af kravene 1-3, hvor opvarmningstrinet udføres ved atmosfærisk tryk.
5. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 4, hvor tidsrummet er omkring 10 til 60 minutter, fortrinsvis omkring 10 til 30 minutter, mere fortrinsvis omkring 15 til 30 minutter, mest fortrinsvis omtrent 20 minutter.
6. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 4, hvor temperaturen af den dampopvarmede biomasse er mellem 95 °C og 99 °C.
7. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, hvor vandet og den kemiske katalysator tilføres for at opnå et katalysatorindhold og et 65 % til 75 % fugtindhold af den dampbehandlede biomasse.
8. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 7, hvor den kemiske katalysator er svovlsyre i en svovlsyrekoncentration på fra 0,2 vægtprocent til 2 vægtprocent af biomassen.
9. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 8, hvor svovlsyrekoncentrationen er på fra 0,5 vægtprocent til 2 vægtprocent af biomassen.
10. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 9, hvor svovlsyrekoncentrationen er på fra 0,8 vægtprocent til 1,0 vægtprocent af biomassen.
11. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, hvor biomassen har et fugtindhold på 30-55 % forud for dampopvarmningstrinet af konditioneringen.
12. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, hvor opvarmningen med damp udføres i 55 til 60 minutter for at opnå en biomassetemperatur på omkring 80 °C; i 40 til 60 minutter for at opnå en biomassetemperatur på omkring 85 °C; eller i 27 til 55 minutter for at opnå en biomassetemperatur på 90 °C.
13. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, hvor opvarmningen med damp udføres i 20 til 40 minutter for at opnå en biomassetemperatur på omkring 95 °C; i 15 til 30 minutter for at opnå en biomassetemperatur på omkring 99 °C; eller i 14 til 28 minutter for at opnå en biomassetemperatur på omkring 100 °C.
14. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, hvor den konditionerede biomasse indeholder 68-72 vægtprocent fugt forud for forbehandlingsprocessen.
15. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 3, hvor den konditionerede biomasse indeholder 68-72 % fugtighedsindhold og 0,7 vægtprocent til 0,09 vægtprocent svovlsyreindhold forud for forbehandlingsprocessen.
16. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, hvor den konditionerede biomasse er majskolber og indeholder 68-72 % fugtighedsindhold og 0.7 vægtprocent til 0,09 vægtprocent svovlsyreindhold forud for forbehandlingsprocessen.
17. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, hvor flygtige gasser frigives under konditione-ringsprocessen.
