Abstract

The container is designed with an inner tubular casing 12 of essentially circular cross section and an outer casing 14 of polygonal cross section, the inner and outer casings 12, 14 being made of multi-layer corrugated paper and each being designed to receive and support part of the stacked load from a similar strong container. The inner casing 12 is supported by a base plate 98 with its upper edge extending outwards from the upper edge of the outer casing 14, and the base plate 98 can be deformed to allow the inner casing 12 to move into the outer casing 14 so that both the upper edges are situated in the same horizontal plane after application of a predetermined pressure to the inner casing 12. <IMAGE>
