Abstract

Se describe un método de obtener una solución salina acuosa modificada reológicamente que incluye adicionar a ésta una arcilla no-hidratable según lo definido, y al menos un compuesto capaz de contribuir en solución con un catión metálico bivalente y un catión metálico trivalente; y entonces ajustar el pH hasta un rango específico. La composición seca comprende al menos un compuesto capaz de contribuir con los cationes designados y, opcionalmente, una arcilla no-hidratable. Esta invención es particularmente aplicable a fluidos de perforación y más particularmente a tales fluidos utilizados en sitios de perforación de áreas costeras y de ultramar, donde se conoce que la presencia de la salinidad reduce significativamente la efectividad de las arcillas como agentes espesantes
