Abstract
Se describe un proceso para la producción de crudo pesado de bajo contenido de azufre. El proceso comprende los siguientes pasos: la remoción de los contaminantes del crudo pesado, del bitumen o de la espuma bituminosa a los efectos de formar un crudo esencialmente deshidratado y desasfaltado y la posterior desulfurización del crudo esencialmente deshidratado y desasfaltado por desulfurización con sodio metálico a los finos de producir un crudo pesado de bajo contenido de azufre. El paso que consiste en remover los contaminantes es llevado a cabo por extracción con un solvente parafínico
