Abstract
Un método y aparato para recuperar un metal y separar el arsénico de una solución que contiene arsénico. El método incluye poner en contacto la solución que contiene arsénico con un agente fijador que comprende un compuesto que contiene tierras raras para obtener una solución empobrecida en arsénico y un agente fijador enriquecido en arsénico. El agente fijador comprende un compuesto que contiene tierras raras que puede incluir cerio, lantano o praseodimio. El agente fijador se separa de la solución empobrecida en arsénico y se separa un metal recuperable de la solución que contiene arsénico o de la solución empobrecida en arsénico o de ambas. Los metales recuperables incluyen metales del Grupo IA, Grupo IIA, Grupo VIII y los metales de transición. Se puede formar la solución que contiene arsénico poniendo en contacto un material que contiene arsénico con un agente lixiviador. Se pueden también separar y recuperar los sólidos empobrecidos en arsénico formados durante la lixiviación. Un aparato de la invención puede incluir dos o más unidades fijadoras de arsénico configuradas para conducir el método de manera continua.
