  • This prior arrangement provides a coupler for two scaffold tubes which is intended to be placed against a girder for rigidity purposes for the fitting itself and is not designed for use as the main weight bearing device for constructing a drop scaffold tube used in the construction of a workmen's platform or cradle.
  • This prior fitting has a boss which is designed to take a latch securing bolt but is not intended to seat on the horizontal flange of a girder. If the bolt were to shear, the latch jaw would be released and the scaffold tube held therein could jump out. Furthermore, the small area of the boss which would drop onto the girder flange in the event of bolt failure would be insufficient to maintain the scaffold in place particularly if the scaffold tube had worked loose or fallen down as a result of failure of the bolt. The fitting is therefore totally unsuitable for use in constructing workmen's cradles or platforms.

Claims (5)

1. Raccord (10) destiné à être fixé à une section de tube (9) d'échaffaudage pour bloquer ledit tube (9) d'échaffaudage sur l'aile horizontale (13) d'une poutre; ledit raccord (10) comprenant un corps principal (1, 14), une pince (4, 16) montée de façon pivotante sur la partie inférieure du corps principal (1, 14) ladite pince et ledit corps ayant une form telle que ces deux pièces coopérent de manière à recevoir et à enserrer ladite section de tube (9) d'échaf- faudage, un moyen d'attache (6, 7; 18, 20) servant à fixer de façon amovible ladite pince (4, 16) au corps principal (1, 14); et une vis (12, 24) disposée de manière à venir s'appliquer contre la surface de ladite aile (13) de poutre de manière à bloquer le corps principal (1, 14) sur cette poutre; grâce à quoi en cours d'utilisation, le corps principal (1, 14) et la pince (4, 16) se trouvent assujettis au tube (9) d'échaffaudage et une position voisine du bord de l'aile (13) de la poutre, un partie (11, 22) du corps principal recouvre la face supérieure de l'aile horizontale (13) de la poutre et le corps principal (1, 14) est bloquée sur l'aile (13) de la poutre au moyen de la vis (12, 24) appliquée contre la surface de ladite aile, caractérisé par le fait que la majeure partie de la longueur du corps principal (1, 14) est orientée, en cours d'utilisation, verticalement, le moyen d'attache (6, 7; 18, 20) est disposé pratiquement suivant la direction horizontale lorsque l'on utilise le raccord (10), la partie (11, 22) du corps principal (1, 14) est disposée, en une position éloignée du raccord pivotant (3, 17) de l'aile (4, 16) suivant une direction pratiquement perpendiculaire à la majeure partie de la longueur du corps principal (1, 14) et ledit corps principal (1, 14), présente à son extrémité inférieure, une partie comportant une cavité courbe (2, 15) destinée à recevoir le tube (9) d'échaffaudage et à s'appliquer contre ce tube, de façon que la charge verticale exercée par le tube d'échaffaudage soit supportée en quasi-totalité par le corps principal (1, 14), le moyen d'attache (6, 7; 18, 20) n'étant soumis qu'à des charges horizontales du fait que le raccord est bloqué sur le tube (9) d'échaf- faudage.
2. Raccord selon la revendication 1, caractérisé par le fait la pince (4, 16) est montée de façon pivotante à une extrémité du corps principal (1, 14), par le fait que l'autre extrémité de la pince (4, 16) comporte une fente (5, 19) par le fait que le moyen d'attache amovible comprend un boulon (6, 18) monté de façon pivotante sur le corps principal (1, 14) et qui peut venir s'engager dans la fente (5, 19) de ladite pince (4, 16), par le fait que la tête du boulon (6, 18) est montée de façon pivotante dans le corps principal (1, 14) et que ledit boulon (6, 18) a une tige filetée et par le fait qu'un écrou (7, 20) est vissé sur ledit filetage et a pour rôle, lorsqu'on le tourne, d'entraîner ladite autre extrémité de la pince (4, 16) en direction du corps principal (1, 14).
3. Raccord selon la revendication 1 ou la revendication 2, caractérisé par le fait que ladite partie (11) du corps principal (1) orientée à peu près perpendiculairement à la majeur partie de la longueur dudit corps principal (1) comporte un alésage taraudé et par le fait que la vis (12) peut venir se visser dans le filetage dudit alésage.
4. Raccord selon la revendication 1 ou la revendication 2, caractérisé par le fait que le corps principal (14) est muni en un point situé entre ces extrémités, d'une patte (23) alignée avec ladite partie (22) du corps principal (14) à peu près perpendiculairement à la majeur partie de la longueur dudit corps principal (14) mais à une certaine distance de ladite partie (22).
5. Raccord selon la revendication 4, caractérisé par le fait que la patte (23) comporte un alésage taraudé et par le fait que la vis (24) peut se visser dans le taraudage dudit alésage.
