Definitions

  • the invention relates to an electrical heating device for heating a plate using a flat PTC resistor.
  • Such heating devices have become known, for example, for the heating of exterior mirrors of motor vehicles, cf. the published documents of German utility models DE-GM 79 19 839 and DE-GM 7929 548.
  • a PTC resistor as a self-regulating heating element with a connecting electrode on one Heat distribution plate soldered on.
  • the heat distribution plate there is connected to an electrical line via a soldering point, which is connected, for example, to the body (earth) of the motor vehicle.
  • the other connection electrode is also connected by soldering to an electrical line that leads to the switch that connects the heating circuit to the current supply of the motor vehicle connects.
  • the assembly of this PTC resistor and its connections is very complex due to the solder connections. The connections must be made carefully to achieve the lowest possible electrical and thermal contact resistance. In addition, long-term thermal stress cracks can occur in the solder joints.
  • the invention has for its object to provide an electrical heating device of the type mentioned, the PTC resistor can be installed quickly and safely - that is, without large electrical and thermal resistances.
  • the invention solves this problem in that the PTC resistor is designed as a flat cylindrical ring, the outer ring surfaces of which form the connection electrodes, that a continuous opening is arranged in the plate to be heated, and that the PTC resistor has its first connection electrode around the opening at the Plate rests and that a fastening member is pushed through the opening of the PTC resistor and through the opening of the plate, which presses the PTC resistor onto the plate.
  • the second connection electrode can be contacted in that the fastening member presses an annular, electrical contact part onto the second connection electrode of the PTC resistor.
  • An improved heat distribution at the PTC resistor is achieved in that the fastening member presses a perforated heat distribution plate onto the second connection electrode.
  • the contact part can either be designed as a heat distribution plate itself or the contact part is arranged between the PTC resistor and the heat distribution plate.
  • the fastening part can be formed in several parts and, for example, consist of a T-shaped spring part with a pin and a self-locking, slotted spring washer, the spring washer with the interposition of the plate, the PTC resistor and possibly the heat distribution plate and / or the contact part the pin is pushed on and the pushed-on parts are pressed against each other.
  • an elastic corrugated ring can be arranged between the pushed-on parts on the one hand and the spring washer on the other hand.
  • the invention requires neither solder connections for connecting the electrical lines to the electrodes of the PTC resistor nor for thermal contacting between the PTC resistor and the plate to be heated.
  • the assembly can largely be done mechanically. Larger tolerances in the dimensions, for example in the thicknesses, of the components involved can also be easily compensated for, so that there is always a sufficient contact force between the PTC resistor and the plate to be heated or the electrical connecting members.
  • Figure 1 shows the individual parts of a heating device as they are arranged before assembly between a lower and an upper punch of an assembly press.
  • Figure 2 shows the fully assembled heater according to Figure 1 .:
  • the plate 1 to be heated can be a thin aluminum sheet and can be used, for example, to heat a motor vehicle exterior mirror in a known manner.
  • the plate 1 has a round through hole 2 and a plug tongue 3 for connection to the power supply.
  • Thermal compound 5 is applied to the ring surface 4 around the hole 2.
  • the PTC resistor 6 lies with a ring shaped connecting electrode 9 on the thermal paste 5.
  • An annular contact part 11 in the form of a brass disk with a plug tongue 12 is placed on the other annular connecting electrode 10.
  • the contact part 11 can be flat - as shown - or as a hood overlapping the PTC resistor, see indicated by the dot-dash line 11 in FIG. 2.
  • a corrugated ring 13 is provided to ensure sufficient spring forces.
  • the actual fastening device is composed of a spring part 14 with a T-shaped cross section and a slotted spring washer 15 which interacts with it and is known as a "quick fastener".
  • the spring member 14 is made of a heat-resistant plastic, e.g. glass fiber reinforced polycarbonate. It comprises a flat annular pressure part 14a and a hollow pin 14b.
  • the hollow pin 14b is stepped and formed with a conical transition 14c and a front projection 14d.
  • the slotted spring washer 15 is made from spring steel in a plate shape and has a central through opening 15a and a plurality of locking fingers 15b, which extend at an acute angle to the disk plane and are distributed on the inner circumference.
  • the assembly takes place in that the spring part 14 is placed with its pressing part 14a on a lower punch 16 or another solid base. Parts 1, 5, 6, 11 and 13 are now attached to the pin 14b. Then the spring washer 15 is placed on the chamfer 14d of the pin 14b; because the central opening 15a the spring washer 15 is formed in the area between the locking fingers 15b slightly smaller than the diameter of the pin 14b. Then the spring washer 15 is pushed onto the pin 14b with the aid of the upper punch 17. The locking fingers 15b bend and the corrugated ring 13 is compressed. After the desired contact pressure has been achieved, the upper punch 17 is moved back. The locking fingers 15b now hook into the pin 14b, so that the parts 1, 5, 6, 11 and 13 are kept pressed together. The consequence of this is good thermal and electrical contacting of these parts, see FIG. 2.
